    transgender health west virginia 20264

The current incumbent, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, has not said whether or not he will seek reelection and doesn’t plan to make an announcement until the end of the year. Should he run again, he faces an uphill battle, running in a presidential year in a state that Donald Trump won by 39 points in 2020.

The Club supported Mooney, a member of the ultraconservative House Freedom Caucus, in his 2022 run against GOP Rep. David McKinley for the seat he currently holds. But the group’s president, David McIntosh, had expressed support for both Mooney and Morrisey and the Club held off on an endorsement while both considered a Senate bid.

“Rep. Mooney has proven in his time in Congress that he is a conservative champion who will fight for lower taxes, safer streets, school freedom, and parental rights for the people of West Virginia,” McIntosh said in a statement. “Mooney will be a great US Senator and we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure he’s elected.”

The Club’s involvement could create a messy primary in a key state for Republicans, who are looking to reclaim the Senate majority.

Justice enjoys high approval ratings and massive personal wealth. He has met with NRSC Chair Steve Daines, who encouraged him to enter the race, according to a person familiar with the committee’s plans. The Mitch McConnell-aligned Senate Leadership Fund also released a poll showing Justice as the only candidate who can beat Manchin.

McIntosh told reporters earlier this year that his group did not align with Justice, a former Democrat, but that it was interested in getting involved in the race.

“He would be in what we would call the moderate camp,” McIntosh said of Justice in February. “So we wouldn’t support him in the primary.”

  • India moves one step closer to its own reusable rocket or ‘space shuttle’

India moves one step closer to its own reusable rocket or ‘space shuttle’

    [ad_1]

Chennai: India on Sunday moved a step ahead in getting its own reusable launch vehicle or reusable rocket (simply put similar to space shuttle) with the country’s space agency successfully completing the Reusable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission (RLV LEX).

The test was conducted at the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR), Chitradurga, Karnataka in the early hours on April 2, 2023.

The Indian space agency said the adaptation of contemporary technologies developed for RLV LEX makes other operational rockets more cost-effective.

    MS Education Academy

In a first in the world, a winged body has been carried to an altitude of 4.5 km by a helicopter and released for carrying out an autonomous landing on a runway.

According to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the RLV took off at 7:10 a.m. IST by a Chinook Helicopter of the Indian Air Force as an underslung load and flew to a height of 4.5 km (above the mean seal level-MSL).

Once the predetermined pillbox parameters were attained, based on the RLV’s Mission Management Computer command, the RLV was released in mid-air, at a down range of 4.6 km.

The Indian space agency said the release conditions included 10 parameters covering position, velocity, altitude and body rates and others.

The release of RLV was autonomous. RLV then performed approach and landing maneuvers using the integrated navigation, guidance & control system and completed an autonomous landing on the ATR air strip at 7:40 a.m. IST. With that, ISRO successfully achieved the autonomous landing of a space vehicle.

The autonomous landing was carried out under the exact conditions of a Space Re-entry vehicle’s landing – high speed, unmanned, precise landing from the same return path – as if the vehicle arrives from space. Landing parameters such as ground relative velocity, the sink rate of landing gears, and precise body rates, as might be experienced by an orbital re-entry space vehicle in its return path, were achieved, ISRO said.

The RLV LEX demanded several state-of-the-art technologies including accurate navigation hardware and software, pseudolite system, Ka-band Radar Altimeter, NavIC receiver, indigenous landing gear, aerofoil honey-comb fins and brake parachute system.

RLV is essentially a space plane with a low lift to drag ratio requiring an approach at high glide angles that necessitated a landing at high velocities of 350 kmph.

According to ISRO, the LEX had used several indigenous systems like the navigation systems based on pseudolite systems, instrumentation, and sensor systems and others developed by it.

Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of the landing site with a Ka-band Radar Altimeter provided accurate altitude information.

Extensive wind tunnel tests and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations enabled aerodynamic characterisation of RLV prior to the flight.

ISRO had demonstrated the re-entry of its winged vehicle RLV-TD in the HEX mission in May 2016. The re-entry of a hypersonic sub-orbital vehicle marked a major accomplishment in developing reusable rockets.

In HEX, the vehicle landed on a hypothetical runway over the Bay of Bengal. Precise landing on a runway was an aspect not included in the HEX mission.

On Sunday, the LEX mission achieved the final approach phase that coincided with the re-entry return flight path exhibiting an autonomous, high speed (350 kmph) landing. The LEX began with an Integrated Navigation test in 2019 and followed multiple Engineering Model Trials and Captive Phase tests in subsequent years.

Manish Tewari moves adjournment notice against Rahul’s disqualification

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari on Monday moved an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification.

The notice states, “That this House do suspend Zero Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the disqualification of Shri Rahul Gandhi.

“The disqualification of Shri Rahul Gandhi from the membership of the House was a hasty and erroneous decision and not in consonance with the provisions of the Constitution of India.

“Article 102 (1) (e) of the Constitution provides that a person shall be disqualified for being chosen as, and for being, a member of either House of Parliament if he is so disqualified by or under any law made by Parliament.”

The notice says, “Article 103(1) provides that the decision as to the disqualification of members lies with the President of India. Further, Article 103(2) lays down that a decision on disqualification by the President must be preceded by mandatory consultation with the Election Commission of India.”

The notice further states, “Section 8(3) of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951 which triggered the disqualification mandates conviction and sentencing as two conjunctive prerequisites for disqualification which were not fulfilled since Shri Rahul Gandhi’s sentence has been suspended for 30 days.”

Tewari said the action is in violation of the basic principles of natural justice, contrary to the provisions of the Constitution, and beyond the legal competence of the Secretariat of Parliament.

“Under these circumstances, the House must adjourn to discuss this matter concerning the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi,” the notice said.

  • Mohammed Faizal moves SC against non-withdrawal of notification disqualifying him as MP

Mohammed Faizal moves SC against non-withdrawal of notification disqualifying him as MP

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Disqualified Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal has moved the Supreme Court against the Lok Sabha Secretariat for not withdrawing a notification disqualifying him as a Member of Parliament upon his conviction and 10-year sentence, which was later stayed by the Kerala High Court.

Faizal stood disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha from January 11, the date of his conviction in an attempt to murder case by a sessions court in Kavaratti, according to a notification issued on January 13 by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

In his petition filed in the apex court through advocate K R Sasiprabhu, Faizal said the L S Secretariat failed to withdraw the notification despite the fact that his conviction was stayed by the high court on January 25.

“The petitioner is constrained to invoke the extraordinary jurisdiction of this court under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, against the unlawful inaction on the part of the respondent, Secretary General of the Lok Sabha Secretariat in not withdrawing the notification dated January 13, 2023, whereby the petitioner was disqualified from his membership of Parliament from the Lakshadweep parliamentary constituency,” the plea said.

It further claimed that the respondent’s inaction is in the “teeth of the settled law” that disqualification incurred by a Member of Parliament (MP) under section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, ceases to operate if the conviction is stayed by the appellate court under section 389 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

“It is pertinent to note that the Election Commission, by taking note of the correct legal position, recalled the by-election press note dated January 18, 2023,” it said.

The plea said the Lok Sabha Secretariat has not revoked the disqualification notification despite various representations and Faizal was denied participation in the Budget Session of the Parliament as well as the ongoing session.

The trial court had on January 11 convicted and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment in the case.

Later, the high court stayed the conviction and the sentence imposed upon Faizal, who filed an appeal against the trial court verdict.

In January, the Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep moved the apex court challenging the January 25 order of the high court which had suspended his conviction and sentence till the disposal of the appeal before it.

On February 20, the top court had issued notice to Faizal and others on the plea filed by Lakshadweep.

Mehrauli murder: Shraddha Walkar’s father moves court seeking audio-video evidence

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Shraddha Walkar’s father Vikas Walkar has moved a plea in Delhi’s Saket court in connection with the murder of his daughter by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala, who allegedly strangled her to death and then chopped her body into 35 pieces.

Vikas Walkar has sought direction for a supply of audio-video evidence filed along with the charge sheet and hearing of the case in a time-bound manner.

He has also sought permission to attend the court hearing through video conferencing as he is a resident of Mumbai.

The court then directed the state to file a reply on the application and listed the matter for next hearing on March 31.

Shraddha Walkar’s father Vikas Walkar has moved a plea in Delhi’s Saket court in connection with the murder of his daughter by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala,

Appearing for the police, Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad had said that the chain of events leads to an irrefutable conclusion about the guilt of the accused.

Advocate Javed Hussain, the legal aid counsel for Poonawala, had sought time to respond to the arguments.

Prasad had earlier submitted that the accused is a trained chef from Taj Hotel and is aware of preserving flesh.

Poonawala had also ordered dry ice, incense after killing Shraddha Walker, the police had said.

After committing the crime, he got into a fresh relationship and gave a ring to his new girlfriend.

The court had on February 7 taken cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police against the accused which ran over 6,000 pages.

Poonawala has been accused of killing Shraddha Walkar and then chopping her body and storing the pieces in a refrigerator before disposing them of in the Chhatarpur forest area over a period of three months.

Israel moves forward with new settlements amid tensions

    [ad_1]

Jerusalem: The Israeli Land Authority has published tenders for more than 1,000 housing units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, Israel’s anti-settlement watchdog Peace Now said in a statement.

According to the statement released on Friday, the tenders are for 940 houses in the West Bank and nearly 90 in East Jerusalem. They were made public earlier this week, Xinhua news agency reported.

“Despite Israel’s commitments to its allies around the world, it appears to continue promoting construction that harms the chances for a political agreement and increases tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in both the short and long term,” read the statement released by the organisation, which regularly monitors the construction of Israeli settlements.

The publication of the tenders came amid rising tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank since January.

Earlier this week, the Israeli parliament repealed a 2005 act that led to the evacuation of four Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, a move that could pave the way for Israeli settlers to return to the abandoned settlements, possibly stoking more tensions.

In the 1967 Middle East war, Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are claimed by the Palestinians. Since then, Israel has populated the area with more than half a million Jewish residents. The international community considers the establishment of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories illegal.

The Palestinians have been seeking to establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

US Consulate in Hyderabad moves to own facility built at cost of $340 million

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The US Consulate General in Hyderabad on Monday opened operations at its new facility at Nanakramguda.

Fifteen years after commencing the operations from historic Paigah Palace in Begumpet, the Consulate has moved to its own building in the Financial District, Nanakramguda, an information technology cluster in western part of the city.

“Today marks a milestone in the US-India Strategic Partnership,” US Consul General, Hyderabad, Jennifer Larson, said.

“At a cost of $340 million, our new consulate facility in Hyderabad is an investment in the US relationship with India. We look forward to increasing our staff – including visa officers – in order to continue expanding US-India ties in the months and years to come,”” she said.

Established in 2008 at the historic Paigah Palace, the US Consulate General in Hyderabad is the first US diplomatic office to open in India since India’s independence. Groundbreaking at the new location in Nanakramguda took place in 2017.

Located on a 12-acre site, the new consulate embodies the US State Department’s mission to provide safe, secure, functional, and resilient facilities for U.S. diplomacy. The $340 million construction project included $70 million in local investment and employed a combined workforce of over 1,000 American, Indian, and third-country nationals.

The US Consulate General represents the US in the Indian states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. The US-India relationship in the region spans a wide range of key issues, including higher education and cultural programs, military cooperation, health and environmental issues, and commercial ties, the US Consulate said in a statement.

The US Consulate General Hyderabad issued more than 18,000 student visas during 2022, while US companies have invested billions of dollars in the region’s tech, defense, aerospace, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, the Consulate works with local partners to preserve historic monuments, while Consulate staff work with local journalists to combat disinformation and expand coverage of climate change. US and Indian militaries also teamed up for joint exercises based out of Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam, it said.

Visa applicants who have scheduled interviews should now go to the US Consulate’s new facility in Nanakramguda for their interviews.

All other visa services – including biometrics appointments, “dropbox” appointments (interview waiver), and passport pickup – will continue to take place at the Visa Application Center (VAC), located at the Lower Concourse, HITEC City Metro Station, Madhapur, Hyderabad.

Penguin moves Delhi HC against trial court injunction on Rana Kapoor book

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice to former Yes Bank Managing Director Rana Kapoor on an appeal by publishing house Penguin Random House India against a trial court order asking them to refrain from publishing and distributing a book on him.

A single-judge bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri directed Kapoor to file his reply and listed the matter for the next hearing on July 24.

The case stems from a Rs 466 crore Yes Bank scam.

Journalist Furquan Moharkan published a book titled “The Banker Who Crushed His Diamonds: The Yes Bank Story” in February 2021.

Kapoor has, however, opposed it sayimg that the book makes false allegations against him which are extremely prejudicial to the ongoing investigation.

The trial court passed the ex-parte ad interim injunction order against Moharkan’s publication and distribution of the book on December 22, 2021, and the same was confirmed on January 28, 2023.

Book publisher Penguin, in its appeal before the High Court, contended that the trial court failed to appreciate the fact that Kapoor approached the court 11 months after the publication of the book.

The argument further claimed that Kapoor was aware of the book’s planned release as early as June 2020, when the author approached his daughter to get their version of the story and she answered through her lawyer, warning him not to publish.

It further added that by not providing a discussion on merits or assigning proper reasons, especially on why the entire book is being injuncted, the trial court went beyond the Supreme Court’s judgements and it amounts to a blanket censorship, and a violation of free speech rights.
