    Mother-Son Arrested For Selling Contraband Substances At Their Home in Budgam: Police

    Srinagar, March 21: Police on tuesday said that it arrested mother- son duo for selling contraband substance at their residential house in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

    In a handout to GNS, the police said that continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested mother- son duo and recovered contraband substance from their house.

    The police spokesman further stated that Police Post Mochwa received an information that contraband substance has been concealed/stored by one namely Mohammad Yaqoob Khan S/o Sirajudin and his mother in the residential house of Siraj ud Din Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Gopalpora Chadoora. Accordingly, police team from police post Mochwa led by Insp. Mudasir Shafi along with executive magistrate Ist class B. K Pora raided the house and conducted search. During search police party was able to recover 31 Sticks of charas like substance weighing 1 KG & 122 Grams from the said house. Both mother/son have been arrested on spot.

    Case FIR number 46/2023 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation taken up, reads the statement.(GNS)

    SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that the supply network of drugs like charas in Bandipora town has received a big jolt as they have arrested mother-son duo and recovered charas like substance and cash from them in the district.

    The Police in a tweet, said that it recovered charas like substance packed in sachets along with some cash  from the mother-son duo identified as Posha Begum and her son Aqib Waza, whose father Khurshid Waza (MANDELA) has already been booked.

    The police also said that a case under relevant sections of laws has been registered and further investigation is going on.

    In another tweet, Bandipora Police said that it has recovered charas like substance along with cash seizure of 71,845 and arrested one lady Babli Begum who is a repeat offender, presently out on bail in an earlier NDPS Case. “Cognizance taken under the relevant sections of NDPS Act in PS Bandipora,” it added.

    Senior Superintendent of Bandipora Police, Lakshay Vinod Sharma said that the entire family has been involved in selling charas in the town and their arrest is likely to end the supply network of drugs like charas in Bandipora town.

    He further said that the police are also going to apply for bail cancellation in the previous cases. (KNO)

    Mother-son duo charred alive as fire guts house in Surankote Poonch

    A woman and her 3-year-old son were charred alive as their house was burnt in a massive fire amplified by the domestic gas cylinder blast in Surankote area of the Poonch district, officials said on Thursday.

    They said the owner of the house, Shokat Hussain, was also injured while his three other children succeeded in escaping unhurt in the fire incident which took place at Chandimarh B Ward No.04, Baffliaz Surankote during the wee hours.

    Soon after the fire, locals and police rushed to spot and by the time fire was brought under control, 35-year-old Hamida Begum wife of Shokat Hussain and Aqib Hussain (3) were found charred alive and their bodies recovered. House owner Showkat Hussain was injured and has been hospitalized, they added.

    Police post Incharge Bheramgalla PSI Naresh Kaith, who led the police party in rescuing other family members and bringing the fire under control, confirmed to GNS that mother-son duo was killed in the unfortunate incident. He said a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.

    Sarpanch Buffliaz B Tahira Tabassum while expressing anguish over the incident demanded immediate relief to the affected family.
