‘CM doesn’t trust his MLAs…’: PM Modi’s dig at Gehlot post meet in Rajasthan

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Congress government in Rajasthan of following a policy of “appeasement” and taking a soft stand against terrorists, as he blamed the acquittal of the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts accused on this.

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Abu Road, he took a dig at the Congress infighting and said, “The chief minister does not trust his MLAs, they don’t trust him.”

Referring to the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, the prime minister alleged that the Congress government in the state did not fight the case strongly, leading to the acquittals.

    MS Education Academy

He also alleged that there was a complete breakdown of law and order in Rajasthan under Congress’ rule.

“Congress govt in Rajasthan is afraid to take action against criminals because of vote bank politics,” PM Modi alleged.

This comes right after the PM met and shared the stage with the Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot at a gathering in Rajsamand district’s Nathdwara town where Prime Minister Modi launched various projects costing over Rs 5500 crore.

At the gathering addressing the public Gehlot stated that the opposition should be respected in a democracy and hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will work towards it.

“If this is done, the ruling party and the opposition will be able to serve the country more vigorously,” the senior Congress leader said, with Modi on stage, stressing that for democracy the fight is over ideology.

It is significant to note that Gehlot also drew the PM’s attention towards pending projects in the state including Dungarpur-Ratlam via Banswara rail line, Karauli-Sarmathura rail line and the national project status to Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project.

Following Gehlot’s remarks, in a veiled attack on opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said some people are so full of negativity that they don’t want to see anything good happen in the country and only like to create controversy.

Modi said those who measure everything with votes are unable to devise plans keeping the country in mind.

“Because of this thinking, priority was not given to infrastructure development in the country,” he said without naming anyone.

He said those filled with negativity neither have a vision nor the capability to think beyond their selfish political motive.

PM Modi’s visit, BJP’s grassroots work lift party prospects in north Karnataka

    [ad_1]

Hubbali: Prime Minister Narendra Modi camping in Karnataka and addressing a gathering in Haveri has uplifted the spirits of the party cadres in north Karnataka. Coupled with this the organisational machinery of the BJP is functioning tirelessly and has almost completed four rounds of door-to-door campaigning.

In Hubbali, BJP candidate Mahesh Tenginkai, the party state general secretary and the blue-eyed boy of senior leader B.L. Santhosh, has been working hard to defeat the Congress candidate Jagadish Shettar whose exit from the BJP has become national news.

While Shettar has the support of the local people and their goodwill, being a six-term MLA and a former chief minister, the Hubbali seat is a stronghold of the BJP and the RSS. The arrival of the Prime Minister in the adjacent district of Haveri where he dwelt on the development measures undertaken by his government and a ‘double engine’ government in the state seems to have struck a chord with the voters.

    MS Education Academy

M.R. Krishan Tulangi, a farmer in Hubbali while speaking to IANS said, “The Prime Minister has said that the government of India is purchasing urea at a cost of Rs 50 per kg and distributing it to farmers at Rs 5 per kg. This is a very important gesture on the part of the BJP government towards the farmers. This time I will vote for the BJP even though Jagadish Shettar is a good person and a winnable candidate.”

In Gadag also there is support for the BJP candidates and most of those whom this correspondent spoke to said that even though the Karnataka BJP is not up to the mark and corruption allegations are there, the Prime Minister was doing good work for the country. To support him they have to vote for the BJP.

Basavaraj Pujar, a driver in Gadag told IANS, “The Prime Minister in his speech at Haveri said that our country is presently the fifth largest economy in the world and will soon become the third largest economy. This filled me with pride and I have decided to vote for the BJP.”

In Belagavi, however, the presence of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi (MES) which stands for the merger of the border districts of Karnataka with Maharashtra, is likely to play spoilsport to the prospects of the BJP in four seats.

In addition to the Prime Minister’s roadshow and public programmes, the presence of grassroot RSS cadres is helping the BJP conduct door to door surveys, which the Congress is lacking.

Another factor is the presence of a large number of youths for campaigning for the BJP while the Congress has middle aged people in its campaign team.

With only two days left for the elections and with the campaigning ended today, the BJP and the Congress are in an all out mode to garner the maximum votes.

‘Grand tamasha’ Congress describes PM Modi’s Bengaluru roadshow

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “master of distortion” and accused him of caring only for his “grand tamasha” and not the inconvenience caused by his 26-km roadshow in Bengaluru.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged ambulances were stuck on roads due to the chaos caused by the roadshow and said that Modi should cancel the second part of the roadshow slated for Sunday.

With just four days to go for the Karnataka assembly polls, Modi held a massive roadshow from Someshwar Bhavan RBI Ground in Bengaluru South to Malleshwaram’s Sankey Tank.

The prime minister will hold another roadshow on Sunday morning.

“The Master Of Distortion and Incitement (‘Abuse’ No. 92??) is arriving in Bengaluru today. We already know what he’ll say to inflame prejudice and bigotry,” Ramesh said on Twitter ahead of Modi’s roadshow.

He said the prime minister will stay absolutely silent on the real issues of Karnataka like “40 per cent commission sarkar, intolerable price rise, rising unemployment, and a forever under-construction and dug-up Bengaluru”.

“This time the despair is so high that his #40km40percent roadshow over 2 days is locking up an entire city, creating chaos & uncertainty for students writing crucial exams, and felling a number of trees,” the Congress leader said.

“Have you ever seen a PM this desperate,” he asked.

After the roadshow, Ramesh said Modi should cancel its second part scheduled for Sunday.

    “Ambulances stuck, chaos on road!

“If the PM has any shame left or even an iota of concern for the people of Bengaluru, he would immediately cancel part 2 of the #40km40percent roadshow tomorrow. But we all know that all he cares for is his Grand Tamasha,” Ramesh tweeted.

He also shared a video of a traffic jam.

In another tweet, he said, “Jawans have been martyred, Wrestlers are protesting, Manipur is burning And all the Prime Minister can think of is rallying to save the BJP from a humiliating defeat in Karnataka. Pathetic priorities!”

Modi’s three-hour roadshow traversed through parts of south and central Bengaluru, touching about a dozen assembly segments. He waved at large crowds that gathered on both sides of the route.

Later, he addressed a rally in Badami and said the overwhelming response he received in Bengaluru during the roadshow made him believe that it is the people who are contesting the Karnataka elections on behalf of the BJP.

He said that the love and affection he received in Bengaluru was “unparalleled”.

To counter Modi’s Jai Bajrangbali, Uddhav comes up with ‘Jai Shivaji’ in Karnataka

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Countering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to Karnataka voters to utter the name of “Jai Bajrangbali”, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday urged the Marathi voters to invoke “Jai Bhavani” and “Jai Shivaji” while casting their votes.

Reacting to Modi’s statements, the Shiv Sena-UBT President said that when his father and Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray had sought votes in the name of Hindutva in 1987, his voting rights were taken away for six years in 1999 with effect from 1995 by the Election Commission.

“If the country’s PM is promoting Hinduism, then the voting rules may have been changed now… The Marathi-speaking people of Karnataka should say ‘Jai Bhavani’, aJai Shivaji’ and then vote for the candidates of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES),” Thackeray said.

    MS Education Academy

He also frowned at the Congress for raising the issue of Bajrangbali in the elections and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong reactions to it ahead of the May 10 Karnataka Assembly polls.

The Sena-UBT chief said the need of the hour is unity among the people who believe that there should not be a dictatorship in the country.

“Its not about defeating an individual but vanquishing the attitude. Everyone should come forth unitedly to defeat the dictatorial attitude,” declared Thackeray.

‘Maun ki Baat’: Cong dig at PM Modi’s 100th radio episodes

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Congress took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday over his “Mann ki Baat” radio broadcast, saying the occasion of its 100th episode was heralded with great fanfare but it was “maun ki baat (silence)” on critical issues such as China, Adani, increasing economic inequalities and the wrestlers’ protest.

Modi’s monthly “Mann ki Baat” programme completed its 100th episode on Sunday.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Union ministers, listened to the prime minister’s address at different places across the country as the ruling party went all out to make the 100th episode a mega exercise in public connect.

    MS Education Academy

Just ahead of the airing of the programme, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Today is FekuMaster Special. The 100th day of Mann ki Baat is heralded with great fanfare. But it is Maun ki Baat on crucial issues like China, Adani, increasing economic inequalities, price rise of essential commodities, terror attacks in J&K, insults to women wrestlers, non-fulfilment of promises made to farmer organisations, corruption in so-called double-engine state governments like Karnataka, conmen with close links to BJP, etc.”

“IIM Rohtak does some doctored study on Mann ki Baat’s impacts while its Director’s academic credentials have been questioned by the Ministry of Education itself,” Ramesh said.

The Congress, from its official Twitter handle, also took a dig at Modi, alleging that he has been silent on issues such as Chinese aggression, unemployment, price rise, charges against industrialist Gautam Adani’s business conglomerate and women’s security.
