Bengaluru: The Congress on Monday launched a ‘CryPM’ campaign ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls and put out a QR code showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi wiping his tears.

Along with the ‘CryPM’ QR code, the party also put out a ‘PayCM’ QR code poster too, with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s image in the middle.

The unique campaign was launched a day after Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took potshots at Modi saying that he was the only Prime Minister she had seen who cried over insults aimed at him, instead of listening to the sufferings of the people.

“He (Modi) is the first prime minister I have seen who comes before you and cries that he is being abused. Instead of listening to your grief, he is coming here and telling you his (problems),” Vadra said.

The Indian Youth Congress in Karnataka tweeted the two posters of ‘CryPM’ and ‘PayCM’ side by side with a message, “The PM’s speeches these days remind me of my Facebook feed full of complaints and no substantial content. Time for a status update? #CryPMPayCM”

The Congress is also targeting the Chief Minister accusing his government of collecting 40 per cent commission on public works.

The state will go to the polls for the 224 seats in the general Assembly on May 10.

‘What did you do to stop corruption in Karnataka’, Rahul asks PM Modi

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Continuing his attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the poll-bound state of Karnataka, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain all the action he took to stop corruption in the state.

Addressing a huge public rally in Hassan, Rahul Gandhi said: “The BJP first stole your government and then, through the government, it stole money from you. Now, the PM gives speeches here. But the truth is that he knew about all the corruption that took place in Karnataka in the last three years.

“If even a six-year-old child in Karnataka knows it, the PM must also be aware of it. So, I ask him — what action have you taken to stop corruption in Karnataka in the last three years? And, against how many people did you take action?” Rahul Gandhi questioned.

    MS Education Academy

“Ask any kid of Karnataka — what is the name of the government? He will tell you ’40 per cent Sarkar’. Everyone knows this. The Contractors’ Association wrote to the PM telling him about the 40 per cent commission; he may have read the letter but didn’t give any reply. Dingaleshwar Swami ji says that 30 per cent commission was taken from his mutt, and he was given a 10 per cent discount,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi further said: “In the Mysore Sandal soap scandal, a BJP MLA’s son was caught with cash. There were scams in recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors, Asst. Professors, Asst. Engineers. There was a Cooperative Bank scam.

“Modi ji, please talk about these issues in your speeches. You come here and say that ‘Congress attacked me’. Please also tell what you did for Karnataka in the last 3 years. Here, the question is not about the PM. It is about Karnataka’s youth, farmers and women,” he said.

Posing another question to PM Modi, the former Congress president said: “Modi ji, what action did you take when violence took place at Karnataka-Maharashtra border? How did you help Karnataka in the matter of the water dispute between Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka?

“When we give speeches, we take the names of our leaders. Like I showed respect to Congress leaders before starting my speech. We talked about Siddaramaiah ji, Shivakumar ji, Kharge ji, Parameshwar ji. You (addressing the PM) come to Karnataka but don’t talk about your leaders. You don’t even take the name of Yeddyurappa ji or Bommai ji. Take the names of BJP leaders also in your speeches, they will feel good. Respect them as well,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress has laid out a roadmap for Karnataka for the next five years.

“We have brought out these schemes after talking to the public. Congress is going to give 5 revolutionary schemes to the people. We are going to put the money, looted from them by the BJP, back in their pockets,” he said.

“BJP leaders love the number 40. They took a 40 per cent commission in every work. Make them remember this ’40’ number. For 3 years, they made you remember the ’40’ number. Give them 40 seats in elections and Congress has to be given at least 150 seats because if we get less than 150 seats, the BJP will again try to ‘steal’ the government. Teach a lesson to the BJP,” Rahul Gandhi told the people.

People will teach a lesson to those who termed Modi ‘useless’: Bommai

    [ad_1]

Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said that the Congress leaders are indulging in cheap talk due to the fear of losing the assembly election.

He said Congress MLA Priyank Kharge termed Modi as ‘useless’. Bommai appealed to the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party to teach a lesson to the Congress.

Speaking at a poll rally in favour of Krishnaraja BJP candidate Srivatsa here on Monday, he said Mysuru is a historic, heritage, and world-famous city and the BJP has been strong in the last three decades.

    MS Education Academy

“The people have voted for the MLAs and MPs. The turnout of the people clearly indicates that Srivatsa will get elected by a big margin. We are trying to get positive votes through the programs of the double-engine government. But the opposition parties, out of frustration, are making cheap remarks and doing negative campaigning. People will vote only for those who have worked for them,” he said.

The CM said both the state and Union governments have implemented several schemes such as the Kisan Samman for farmers, Ayushman Bharat for public healthcare, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in both the urban and rural areas to build houses and the Vidyanidhi scheme for the children of farmers and agricultural labourers.

Mysuru has been developed under the Smart City project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi loves Mysuru and its citizens. The PM selected Mysuru for celebrating Yoga Day. Those who love Modi must vote for Srivatsa, he said.

“As the CM, I have given grants of over Rs 250 crore for the celebration of Dasara along with an additional Rs 5 crore and implemented the Mysuru Tourism Circuit. Mysuru has been an international tourism destination.

“Work is in progress and next year the number of tourists visiting the city will double. Rs 80 crore has been given to rebuild a hospital and impetus given to women’s programs,” he said.

Out of frustration, the Congress is giving the guarantee of 10 kilograms of free rice but it was given during the regime of former BJP CM Yediyurappa. The Congress government reduced the quantity to five kg. The Congress leaders are deceiving the voters just for the sake of votes, Bommai stated.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank calls Modi ‘nalayak’

    [ad_1]

Kalaburagi: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and party leader Priyank Kharge on Monday dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘nalayak’ drawing the ire of BJP brass while the grand old party asserted that such a remark was never made by him.

Priyank, seeking reelection from Chittapur in Kalaburagi district said Modi claiming to be a son of the Banjara community and promising to take care of them was “inept” because he and his party had created confusion about reservations for the SC community.

His remark comes days after Mallikarjun Kharge’s “venomous snake” barb aimed at PM Modi.

    MS Education Academy

BJP president J P Nadda said opposition leaders have been using such language against the Prime Minister to “please” their masters, a reference to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said: “In a state of despair of losing the election, he (Priyank) has forgotten his limits. A few days ago, his father withdrew his words. Now, it’s his turn. People will teach them a lesson.”

Mallikarjun Kharge stoutly defended his son and said he never made such comments. The Congress president said: “No. No. It is very wrong. He never said it. Don’t put these words into his mouth. He attacked the parliament member (not Modi) who abused him. So, don’t put these words into his mouth (saying it was meant) for Modi. I am sorry, everywhere this is going on (misquoting) purposely. Morning he (Priyank) condemned it but still you people are asking.”

Priyank, addressing a poll gathering quoted from Modi’s speech and said: “When you (PM Modi) came to Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) what did you tell the people of Banjara community? “Aap sab log dariye mat. Banjara ka ek beta Dilli mein Baitha hai (You do not be afraid. A son of Banjara is sitting in Delhi).”

“Aisa nalayak beta baitha to kaise hota bhai? Ghar kaise chalega?” (If an inept son is sitting in Delhi, how can you run the family?), he asked.

Priyank further said though Modi claimed to be the son of the Banjara community, confusion was created on reservation by the BJP regime in Karnataka.

“Didn’t injustice happen to the Banjara community? Why were stones thrown at Yediyurappa’s house in Shikaripura (in Shivamogga district)? Why Bandh was observed in Kalaburagi and Jewargi? Today there is confusion in the reservation,” the Congress leader claimed.

Priyank, who had been a minister in the Siddaramaiah government said, “The Prime Minister during his earlier visit said he was a son of the Koli community and the Kabbaliga and Kuruba communities. Today he calls himself a son of the Banjara community.”

At the fag end of its term, the BJP government passed a bill to increase the reservation for the Scheduled Castes from 15 per cent to 17 per cent and provide for internal quota for SC communities. It led to a furore among sections of people like Banjaras who feared that their share in the quota pie would get reduced due to internal reservation. The BJP has said time and again that the quota has only been increased and blamed the Congress for misinformation campaign.

Speaking to reporters, Nadda said the Congress is going through “mental bankruptcy” and its leaders have been following the Gandhi family in using derogatory language against the Prime Minister. “They are doing so to please their senior leaders.”

The BJP president claimed the Congress has already lost the election in the southern state and that is why “venom” is coming out from its’ leaders who are in “frustration”.

People do not approve of such language and their love for the Prime Minister has been growing, he said.

BJP IT department head Amit Malviya took a swipe at Priyank Kharge, asking what would he be doing if he was not the son of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president?

“It is anybody’s guess! It is quite rich for someone who is feeding off his father’s name, to call a democratically elected PM ‘nalayak’. It is fine to disagree with the PM, criticise him, but calling him names shows a depraved mind. Junior Kharge should focus on defending his seat and not punch above his weight,” he tweeted.

  • There’s no politics in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, abusing PM Modi part of Cong DNA: Sitharaman

There’s no politics in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, abusing PM Modi part of Cong DNA: Sitharaman

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke like a “pradhan sevak” during the 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and there is no politics in the radio broadcast, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday, countering the Congress’ criticism of the programme.

Now if the Congress is “obsessed” with talking about the agenda set by its first family, it’s up to the party, she said.

Earlier in the day, the Congress took a swipe at Modi over his 100th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, saying there was much fanfare in the run-up to the episode but it was “maun ki baat (silence)” on critical issues such as the border dispute with China, stock manipulation allegations against the Adani Group, “increasing” economic inequalities and the wrestlers’ protest.

    MS Education Academy

Hitting back, Sitharaman said, “He (Modi) talks about everything. Now if the Congress is obsessed with talking about the agenda that the first family of the party sets, it’s up to the party.”

“There is no politics in Mann Ki Baat… There is positivity in the spirit of Mann ki Baat,” the finance minister told reporters after listening to the radio broadcast with BJP leaders and others in Preet Vihar here.

In the 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Sitharaman said, Modi spoke to the people like a ‘pradhan sevak’ and not a prime minister, and the common people also spoke confidently about the core issues.

“So, I am very much impacted, inspired and feeling humbled,” she said.

“Such a pradhan sevak is leading our country despite problems that arose due to the spread of COVID-19 in 2020 and the Russia-Ukraine (conflict) later. All of us are safe under his leadership and India is the fastest growing economy today,” the minister added.

On Congress leaders calling Modi names, Sitharaman said “abusing” the prime minister is “part of the Congress DNA”.

“But they never seem to realise that every time they abuse Prime Minister Modi, people recognise him much more for his positive and constructive work in building India. It doesn’t benefit them in any way or win them any brownie points but they still want to do it because they are full of hate,” she said.

“Despite Rahul Gandhi going around setting up ‘mohabbat ka dukan’, his own party’s president is spewing venom. He is talking about a poisonous snake. So, you understand where Rahul is going and where his party is. Rahul is talking about something that his party doesn’t believe in,” she added.

It is the “nature” of the Congress to abuse those it cannot defeat but people’s support is with Prime Minister Modi.

“The more they accuse the prime minister, the more people will bless him,” she added.

Through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Sitharaman said, the prime minister has brought out the good in Indian citizens.

PM Modi slams Congress, JD-S over ‘family politics’

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Criticising the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) over “family politics”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday termed JD-S a “private limited party” and a “B-team” of the Congress.

PM Modi addressed two massive rallies at Channapatna in Ramnagar district and Belur in Hassan district — both considered strongholds of the JD-S.

Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda hails from Hassan district. His son and former Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is contesting the May 10 Assembly elections from Channapatna.

    MS Education Academy

Addressing the people, PM Modi dubbed the JD-S a “private limited party”. “The JD-S of Karnataka exists only for a family. It is a party of family politics,” he said.

Also slamming the Congress, PM Modi said “one family based in Delhi decides on the allotment of tickets, and everything else”.

“One who is loyal to the family will be made the CM. Congress party leaders are indulged in worshipping one family. But the BJP considers each party worker as its family. During Covid, it has given free vaccination for everyone. It is giving free rice for the poor. The party has built crores of houses for the people,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister further said that in the Congress-ruled states, “the bitter war for power is on”.

“In 2018, both Congress and JD-S were up against each other. But after the results, they joined hands. Every vote cast for the JD-S will go to Congress. The development is never possible through the JD-S and Congress

“This time, the voters of Karnataka have taken a decision. The Congress and JD-S would be taught a lesson. JD-S is Congress’ B-team,” he said, adding: “JD-S agrees with everything that Congress says. Hence, the double-engine government should come to power in Karnataka.”

PM Modi also said that the Congress has ruined the traditional puppet industry.

“I spoke about the famous Channapatna puppets and gave a call to purchase them in Mann Ki Baat. Today, they are exported and there is a huge revenue,” he said.

‘Received thousands of letters from..’, Modi on 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has become a unique festival of goodness and positivity for the countrymen.

Addressing the 100th episode of his monthly radio broadcast, the Prime Minister said, “Friends, October 3, 2014 (the day when the first episode was aired) was the festival of Vijaya Dashami and all of us together started the journey of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on that day. Vijaya Dashami is the festival of victory of good over evil. Mann Ki Baat has also become a unique festival of goodness and positivity of the countrymen,” he said during the 100th episode of his monthly radio broadcast.

“Today is the hundredth episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. I have received thousands of letters from all of you, lakhs of messages and I have tried to read as many letters as possible, have a look at them and try to understand the messages a bit,” Modi added.

The prime minister went on to add that whether it is about education or culture, whether it is about its preservation or promotion, this has been an ancient tradition of India.

“The work that the country is doing in this direction today is really commendable. Be it the National Education Policy or the option of studying in a regional language, or technology integration in education, you will notice many such efforts. Years ago, programmes like ‘Gunotsav and Shala Praveshotsav’ had become a wonderful example of public participation in Gujarat to providing better education and reducing dropout rates,” he said.

Modi won’t be able to stop Kejriwal’s work in Delhi: Sisodia

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A court here on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, till May 8 in connection with the excise policy case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Addressing the media outside the courtroom, Sisodia said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to stop Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s work in the national capital.

“Modi ji may try as much as he wants, but he won’t be able to stop the work of Kejriwal ji in Delhi. Modi ji may conspire as much as he wants,” Sisodia said.

On Friday, Special Judge M.K. Nagpal of the Rouse Avenue Court had denied bail to Sisodia, holding that the evidence, prima facie, “speaks volumes” of his involvement in the commission of the offence.

Additionally, he said that it is impossible to rule out the potential of Sisodia influencing key witnesses in the case.

On Thursday, the same court had extended Sisodia’s judicial custody till May 12, in the case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The ED had earlier submitted before the judge that Sisodia had planted fabricated emails to show that there was public approval for the 2021-22 excise policy.
