Sule praises Gadkari, says he is only minister who works

    [ad_1]

Aurangabad: Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday said Nitin Gadkari was the only member of the Union cabinet who works.

Sule was speaking at an NCP meeting in central Maharashtra’s Parbhani district.

“The only minister who works in the current government is Nitin Gadkari, and I admit it on record,” she said.

Unlike others, Gadkari does not think of party affiliations while doing his job, Sule noted.

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, especially those in Maharashtra lie so blatantly that they should be given awards, the Baramati MP added.

“Which religious book teaches them this, I do not know. They will have to answer for this some day,” she added.

UP minister celebrates Valentine’s Day as cow love day’

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Dharmpal Singh on Tuesday celebrated Valentine’s Day as “cow love day” by offering jaggery and rotis to cows and said that they should be treated as mothers.

He said there is no animal like a cow in the world whose “mal-mutra” (stool and urine) is “pious”.

“Today, Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the world. There are many relations like mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, and one’s love should be expressed,” Singh told reporters.

“We have three mothers — our mother, who gives us birth, ‘gau mata’ (cow) and Bharat Mata. First love should be for our mother, then ‘gau mata’ (cow) and then Bharat Mata ‘ko pranaam karna chahiye’ (should be saluted),” the minister said.

Singh offered gud’ (jaggery) and rotis to cows in the Bakshi ka Talab area here to mark the day.

He urged people to celebrate “cow love day” on Valentine’s Day.

“They (people) should go to a ‘gaushala’ (cow shelter home), feed roti to a cow and pray to her,” Singh said.

“Even a simple visit to ‘Gaushala’ can keep tension away as there is an emotional connect to it. By entering ‘Gaushala’ the door to development opens. There are no such animals (like cows) in the world whose ‘mal-mutra’ (stool-urine) is pious. Its dung and urine are also pious. In cow’s dung lives Lakshmi,” the minister added.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) had on last Monday appealed to the people to celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hug Day’. The directive was later withdrawn on the directions of the government after the move became the subject of memes on social media.

Singh had on Saturday appealed to people to celebrate February 12 by expressing love and faith towards cows by offering them gud and rotis.

Besides, people should seek blessings of cows by touching their head and neck, the minister had said.

“Gavo Vishwasya Matarah in vedas means the cow is the mother of the world. Therefore, on this day, one should resolve to serve the mother cow regularly,” he had said.

Singh also said cow dung should be used on the occasion of ‘Holika Dahan’ as it is environment-friendly and reduces air pollution.

He said, “Andhra Pradesh is the fastest-growing state in the country with a GSDP of 11.43% in 2021-22, which is 2.73% higher than the national growth rate. Even in covid times, when the Centre’s growth rate was declining at -6.6%, Andhra Pradesh recorded a positive growth rate of 0.08%. Another remarkable statistic is that Andhra Pradesh’s per capita income is 38.5% higher than the rest of the nation.”

  • Former Pak Finance Minister to be arrested for derailing IMF deal

Former Pak Finance Minister to be arrested for derailing IMF deal

    [ad_1]

Islamabad: The Pak Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sought permission from the Interior Ministry to arrest former Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in a case pertaining to his alleged role in the derailment of the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a media outlet reported.

The FIA completed a preliminary inquiry into Tarin’s audio leaks and saw his leaked conversations as an ‘attempt to disrupt’ the IMF loan programme and funds, thereby ‘causing harm’ to the national interest, Dawn reported.

The probe agency sought approval of the Interior Ministry to initiate legal proceedings against Tarin, leading to his arrest, the media outlet reported, citing sources.

Two audio leaks had surfaced in August 2022 in which a man purportedly former minister Tarin can be heard guiding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab finance ministers, belonging to the PTI, to tell the PDM coalition government in the Centre and the IMF that they would not be able to commit to a provincial budget surplus in light of the monsoon floods that wrought havoc across Pakistan.

In a notice issued to Tarin in September 2022, the FIA said that an inquiry had been initiated against his alleged role on the basis of the audio leak. “In it, you are provoking him (Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra, Finance Minister of KP) to write a letter to the federal government on behalf of the KP government that it will not return extra money of the fiscal budget so that interruption may be created between IMF and the Government of Pakistan.”

The Minister was replying to a question by Congress member Gaurav Gogoi.

“It is important to prevent delays caused due to COVID-19 and hence I have informed the students’ delegation about why the exam will not be rescheduled,” he said, adding that earlier examinations were delayed by seven to eight months and later by four months. If I keep on delaying, such a situation will come…. It is very necessary to fix it and to conduct the entrance test on time”.

“To ensure that no one is left out, the ministry has extended the cut-off date for all those MBBS students who are yet to complete their internship. • Syrian health sector suffers from US sanctions: Minister

Syrian health sector suffers from US sanctions: Minister

    [ad_1]

Damascus: Syria’s Health Minister has said that the Syrian health sector is reeling under pressure from the US sanctions.

Speaking at a press conference, Hassan al-Ghabbash on Thursday stressed that the suffering of the Syrian medical sector is not a result of the recent massive earthquake that hit the country on Monday but rather the Western sanctions imposed on Syria for 12 years.

He also stated that the death toll from the earthquake rose to 1,347 and the injuries to 2,295, Xinhua news agency reported.

Al-Ghabbash stressed that from the first moments of the earthquake, the Syrian Health Ministry’s emergency room was mobilised to coordinate the response and send ambulances, mobile clinics, and supply trucks to the most affected provinces.

The hospitals and health centres are working at their maximum capacity to provide medical services, he said, adding that one of the most important priorities and challenges is to continue to provide health services in shelters and prepare for any emergency.

“We are determined to provide services to Syrian citizens despite all the circumstances and challenges, and the Syrian state has largely succeeded,” he said.

Al-Ghabbash added that the shortfall caused by Western sanctions would be made up through the concerted efforts of private sector institutions, trade unions, non-governmental organisations and civil society.

The Minister called on the UN, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organisations to provide assistance to Syria to deal with the disaster.

  • Maha: Shinde minister challenges Sanjay Raut to resign from RS and get re-elected

Maha: Shinde minister challenges Sanjay Raut to resign from RS and get re-elected

    [ad_1]

Thane: Thane Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai on Wednesday challenged Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut to resign from Rajya Sabha and get re-elected, claiming that the legislators of the undivided Sena had voted for him then.

Desai was talking to the media here after attending a district planning committee meeting here.

His comments come amid a bitter exchange between the Sena’s two factions after ex-minister Aadtiya Thackeray dared Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to contest against him from Worli in Mumbai.

Desai said all Sena MLAs had followed party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s diktat to back Raut, now a fierce critic of the Shinde faction.

“He had given us specific instructions on the voting for the MP elections which we meticulously followed. Let him (Raut) resign now and win the elections to the Rajya Sabha,” said Desai.

The Sena split after a rebellion by Shinde, who joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the CM. He now leads the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS), while Uddhav Thackeray is the head of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

The BSS on Tuesday termed as “childish” Aaditya Thackeray’s comments challenging Shinde to contest from the Worli assembly seat.

On the tussle between the groups over the Sena’s name and symbol (bow and arrow), Desai, who belongs to BSS, said they will abide by the Election Commission’s decision.

Desai said he will meet the CM and try to get more funds for the Thane district. They have sought Rs 850 crore for the district in fiscal 2023-24, he said.

Model schools, which are a success in Sangli and Satara districts, will be replicated in Thane as well, he said.

Modular operation theatres will be set up in 10 government hospitals in the district, said the guardian minister.
