Strict action to be taken against double-meaning Bhojpuri songs: Bihar minister

    [ad_1]

Patna: Strict action will be taken against double-meaning Bhojpuri songs and obscene music videos, Bihar minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said on Wednesday.

Speaking in the assembly, Yadav, the minister of planning and development, said police have also been told to take action against Bhojpuri songs with provocative caste overtones that often lead to social unrest and violence.

“Police are bound to initiate action if a complaint is filed in this regard. The Special Branch of Bihar Police has already issued instructions to district police units over this,” said Yadav, in reply to a calling attention motion.

Strict action will be taken against those who indulge in making such songs and videos, he said.

Moving the motion, Congress MLA Pratima Kumari said vulgarity and provocative caste overtones in Bhojpuri songs are a matter of serious concern.

“We are not against the promotion of art and culture but these double-meaning songs often lead to social unrest. The government must take strict action against those who produce such songs,” she said.

It has also been noticed that local police don’t take action against people who indulge in producing such songs, she said.

CPI(M) MLA Ajay Kumar said that despite instructions from the headquarters, local police don’t take action against obscenity and double entendres in Bhojpuri songs.

“Punitive action should be taken against such singers and musicians,” he said.

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Punjab NRIs Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday demanded to include both the Amritsar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Mohali for direct flights to Canada and the US.

He said the commencement of the direct flights would ensure great facility to a large number of travellers for both sides.

Calling on Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia here, Dhaliwal apprised him that large number of Punjabis and Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holders had been living in Canada and the US since long, and that during the NRI sammelan organised by the Punjab government in December last, these NRIs sought commencement of these flights.

The state minister said there has been a persistent demand for providing direct air connectivity between Amritsar and Canada. Citing that it is of utmost significant to make direct flights operational from Amritsar to Canadian cities, the minister said presently travellers both from Amritsar and Canadian cities are hugely inconvenienced, as they have to travel to or from New Delhi or other cities in India to reach their destinations.

After the march against ‘plan B’, and that JOsé Ramón Cossío was one of the main speakers at the demonstration in the Zócalo, AMLO attacked the former minister, assuring that he supported Felipe Calderón when they were presidents from the Judiciary.

“José Ramón Cossío, a fake, lawyer, Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice in full narco-state, supported by Calderón, never said anything and he voted against a resolution to punish those responsible for the fire at the ABC nursery in Hermosillo where babies and children died and he is like the moral authority of the movement, the champion of legality,” said the federal president.

He not only attacked Cossíobut against several of the opponents who participated in the demonstration on February 26, whom he exhibited from the National Palace.

“I would even like that I sent you from the networks, a gallery of leaders of these marches and those who participate because people also do not know it because the media cover them up, so they have to be shown, they have to be covered up, because as soon as they see them, people know what they are about,” López Obrador said.

“Most of them have participated in previous governments, they have been, as I said, defenders of electoral fraud, they have been part of the corruption in Mexico, they have belonged to the narco-state that, as has been made clear with García Luna, prevailed for two six-year terms. , that of Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón”.

So, Andres Manuel He reiterated that the bottom of the demonstration is to protect the corruption regime that prevailed before his arrival to the presidency of Mexico, in order to maintain his privileges with the authorities.

  • Telangana minister demands Naidu apologise for rice remark

Telangana minister demands Naidu apologise for rice remark

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Monday demanded that TDP chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu apologise for his remarks that people of Telangana started eating rice only after the TDP introduced subsidised rice scheme in 1980s.

Niranjan Reddy said Naidu should know the history before saying something.

Naidu, president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), had said on Sunday that the people of Telangana shifted to eating rice from porridges made from pulses and millets only after his TDP came to power.

He claimed that people of Telangana started eating rice only after then Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao rolled out the Rs 2/kg rice scheme.

Naidu was speaking at the launching of the Intintiki TDP (TDP for every household) programme in Hyderabad.

His remarks evoked strong reaction from leaders of Telangana’s ruling party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), who demanded that he apologise to people of Telangana.

Niranjan Reddy said as far back as the 11th century farmers in Telangana used to cultivate paddy, wheat, sorghum, ginger, turmeric, onion and sugarcane under the chain of ponds built by Kakatiya rulers.

He pointed out that Hyderabad has been famous for its Dum Biryani since the 15th century.

The minister said that Naidu’s remark that Telangana people started to eat rice only after TDP introduced Rs 2/kg rice is a proof of his lack of understanding and height of arrogance.

Biryani, Sherwani and Qubani were mentioned many times by Chief Minister KCR during the Telangana movement, he said.

Niranjan Reddy also said that the Telangana movement started because of malice, insult, hatred, discrimination and injustice towards the people of Telangana.

The merger of Telangana with Andhra in 1956 was the seed of destruction of Telangana as ponds were destroyed and existing projects were neglected, he claimed.

  • Gujarat Assembly yet to get Rs 9,136 cr as GST compensation, says minister

Gujarat Assembly yet to get Rs 9,136 cr as GST compensation, says minister

    [ad_1]

Gandhinagar: Gujarat is yet to get Rs 9,136.26 crore as Goods and Services Tax compensation from the Union government, the state Assembly was informed on Monday.

During discussion on the issue in the House, senior Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia said Gujarat was losing an average Rs 15,000 crore every year after the GST Act came into force and sought information of pending GST compensation.

Responding to the question, state Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai informed the House Rs 9,136.26 crore was pending by way of GST compensation.

“For the year 2021-22 and 2022-23, Gujarat has claimed Rs 30,400 crore as GST compensation. The Centre has so far paid Rs 21,264 crore while payment of Rs 9,136 crore is still pending. Of those Rs 21,264 crore, the Centre has paid Rs 4,200 crore in cash and Rs 17,045 crore as loan. The Centre will pay the interest on that loan through cess fund,” Desai told the Assembly.

This cess is collected from various products, such as tobacco, coal and soft drinks, for the purpose of paying compensation to states, said Desai.

He said the Centre paid Rs 17,045 crore as loan to Gujarat because the Centre’s cess collection was lower during 2020-21 and 2021-22 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to a slump in business activity because of the pandemic, the income from cess was not enough. Thus, the Centre took a loan from RBI and gave us a loan. The Centre will pay interest on it through the Cess fund,” he said.

When asked by the opposition about when Gujarat expects to receive the remaining Rs 9,136 crore, Desai said the GST Council, in its recent meeting, has approved payment of Rs 864 crore.

Criticising the BJP government on the issue, Modhwadia said “Due to this GST Act, Gujarat is losing Rs 15,000 crore every year. Gujarat is at the receiving end because we are a manufacturing state. This is the reason why even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had vehemently opposed GST when he was Gujarat chief minister.”

Desai countered the Congress leader saying all the sources of income in the country should be equally distributed for the development of the country.

He defended the GST Act saying the Centre has paid compensation to Gujarat in the past and there is no due left for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.

  • Sisodia must be only education minister involved in liquor scam: BJP

Sisodia must be only education minister involved in liquor scam: BJP

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia or other AAP leaders never answered questions related to suspected corruption in the liquor policy, the BJP said on Sunday, asserting that it believes there is merit in the case against the arrested leader.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Sunday evening in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped excise policy for 2021-22.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that Sisodia must be the only education minister in the world who is involved in liquor scam, and added the entire episode is an eye-opener and shocking.

He said Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, has been rejected bail as there is merit in the case against him despite the AAP’s claim of his innocence.

Similarly, the BJP believes that there is merit in the case against Sisodia, he said.

Patra called Sisodia “liquor minister” and accused him of several irregularities, including a hike in commission for wholesalers to make money for his party through the back door.

Patra also rejected the allegation that politics was behind the arrest, saying probe agencies and parties are two separate entities.

Probe agencies, the BJP leader said, do not work on emotion but look into technicalities and the AAP never answered technical questions about the excise policy its government had brought in the national capital.

He alleged that 45 mobile phones and other evidence were destroyed by the accused in the case.

He asserted that the BJP has zero tolerance for corruption and its fight against corruption will always be on.

Sisodia was arrested after nearly eight hours of questioning as his answers were not satisfactory, officials said.

The AAP leader arrived at the CBI headquarters around 11.12 am for the second round of questioning.

The AAP leader, the accused number one in the CBI FIR, was first questioned on October 17.

Vizag will be the next global IT destination, says AP minister

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Industries and IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath stated that AP is heading towards becoming “the best destination for investment in the country.”

Amarnath was speaking at a roadshow in Hyderabad on Friday ahead of the Global Investment Summit (GIS) 2023 which will be held in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4.

“Our focus is on building Visakhapatnam as the next global IT destination. Andhra Pradesh is the only state with three industrial corridors i.e Visakhapatnam-Chennai, Chennai-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Bengaluru where we have 48,000 acres of land for industrial allocation,” said the minister.

The aim of the road shows is to give businesses and investors a taste of what’s to come at the summit, said a press note on Friday.

” With a new policy coming up for 2023-2028 in next few days, we are aiming to create an inclusive and balanced regional development, promote startup culture and ensure skill development,” Amarnath added.

AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath said that all the major corporations have set shop in the last few years in the state.

“Andhra Pradesh is a gateway for Asian countries for all exports and imports. In the automotive sector, corporates such as Ashok Leyland, Kia, Hero, Isuzu, Apollo, Yokohama, Bharat Forge are operating from AP. In electronics sector, we have prominent names like Bluestar, Foxconn, Daikin, Panasonic and WinTech working from here,” he said.

“It is not just Hyderabad which is a base for pharmaceuticals. Apart from host of names, we have Mylan, Biocon, Lueben, Hetero, Laures Labs, Divis Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma, GSK, Dr Reddy’s and Apollo functioning from the state,” he added.

AP finance minister also said, “This shows that we have a perfect ecosystem for business expansion. All this reiterates AP’s Number 1 position in Ease of Doing Business for three consecutive years.”

Similar roadshows were conducted by the AP government in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai, earlier this month.
