  • MeT Predicts Dry Weather Till March 12 In JK

    SRINAGAR: While predicting mainly dry weather to continue, the meteorological department here on Thursday said that minimum temperature recorded a fall in Kashmir Valley and rise in Jammu except Banihal.

    Quoting an official of the meteorological department , news agency GNS  reported that Srinagar recorded a low of 2.9°C against 3.5°C on the previous night and it was 0.4°C below normal for the summer capital.

    Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 1.8°C against 2.4°C on the previous night and it was 0.4°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

    Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 1.9°C against minus 1.7°C on the previous night and it was 0.5°C below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Kokernag recorded a low of 4.1°C, the same as on the previous night and it was 2.2°C above normal for the place, the officials said.

    Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.4°C against minus 1.6°C on the previous night and it was 2.1°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

    In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 0.2°C, the same as on the previous night and it was 1.6°C below normal for the north Kashmir area.

    Jammu recorded a low of 15.5°C against 14.6°C on the previous night. It was 1.5°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

    Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 3.3°C (below normal by 0.8°C), Batote 7.6°C (above normal by 1.7°C), Katra 14.0°C (2.5°C above normal) and Bhadarwah 5.3°C (2.2°C above normal).

    Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil, he said, recorded a low of minus 6.2°C and minus 5.6°C respectively.

    The MeT department has forecast dry weather to continue till March 12.

    An official of the MeT department said that mainly dry weather was expected till March 12.

    Regarding the minimum temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 3.3°C against 3.5°C on the previous night and it was normal for the summer capital.

    SRINAGAR: Amid forecast for “partly to generally cloudy” weather in next 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded a fall in Kashmir Valley and increase in Jammu on Saturday, officials said.

    A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 6.4°C against 6.6°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 4.2°C for the summer capital.

    Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 4.2°C against 5.6°C on the previous night and it was 3.3°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

    Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 1.2°C against 1.7°C on the previous night and it was 3.5°C above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Kokernag recorded a low of 4.7°C against 4.8°C on the previous night and it was 3.8°C above normal for the place, the officials said.

    Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.0°C against minus 0.6°C on the previous night and it was 4.2°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

    In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 4.2°C, the same as on the previous night and it was 3.2°C above normal for the north Kashmir area.

    Jammu recorded a low of 13.2°C against 12.7°C on the previous night. It was 0.9°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

    Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 6.4°C (above normal by 0.9°C), Batote 9.2°C (above normal by 3.4°C), Katra 13.6°C (3.1°C above normal) and Bhadarwah 7.0°C (4.9°C above normal).

    Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 2.8°C and minus 4.6°C respectively, the official added.

    Regarding weather, he said it is likely to be “partly to generally cloudy” during next 24 hours with appreciable rise expected in day temperature. Clear weather is expected from March 5-12, the officials added.

    A meteorological department official here told GNS that in last 24 hours till 0830 hours, Srinagar received 5.7mm of rain, Qazigund 12.3mm, Pahalgam 18.1mm, Kupwara 8.7mm, Kokernag 8.8, Gulmarg 14.4mm, Jammu traces, Banihal 17.6mm, Batote 26.2mm and Bhaderwah 25.4mm.

    Regarding temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 6.6°C against 7.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 4.3°C for the summer capital.

    Gandhi stated, according to a report from India today, “I spoke to my people and expressed my desire to carry on walking. We kept going when an unidentified man came up to me. He said he wanted to speak with me.”

    Rahul Gandhi went on to say that the man questioned him as to whether or not the Congress leaders had actually travelled to the Union Territory to hear about the problems of the populace.

    Later, the man pointed to certain bystanders and claimed they were all militants, according to Rahul Gandhi.

    “I believed I was in danger because militants would likely kill me in such circumstance. Yet, they did nothing as a result of the power of listening “Gandhi added.

    Rahul Gandhi landed in the UK on Tuesday to begin his seven-day tour with a speech at Cambridge University. Along with that, he spoke with local Indian diaspora groups.
