Hyderabad: Massive fire breaks out at plywood godown in Uppal

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Massive fire broke out at a plywood godown located at Ramanthapur under Uppal police limits in the wee hours of Saturday. Officials suspect a short circuit as the reason behind the incident.

The godown – Easy Plywood – was reduced to ashes. No loss of lives was reported, however, the monetary damage is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, locals noticed flames early Saturday morning. Police and firefighters reached the spot and doused the fire but the whole godown was gutted by then.

This is the third incident of fire in the city after the four-floor Deccan Knitwear Sports Accessories went up in flames at Nallagutta on Minister Road. On February 3, the newly-constructed Secretariat reported a minor fire incident.

Adani Green to be renamed to Adani Red after massive share price fall

    [ad_1]

Adani Enterprises has decided not to proceed with its fully subscribed Follow-on Public Offer (FPO), the conglomerate said in a statement late on Wednesday, hours after the shares of the firm nosedived 28.45% to close at 2,128.70 on the BSE. Adani Greens too witnessed over 30% price fall in its share price.

Sources suggest that in order to be transparent with its shareholder, Adani Group has decided to rename Adani Greens to Adani Red. “This will be morally incorrect to keep the name Adani Greens when it is all red. Once we are back in green we will rename it back to Adani Greens” said the CEO of Adani Greens (now Adani Red), Vineet Jain.

Finance Expert, Yogendra Yadav has suggested Gautam Adani to start fund raising activity with him and the collection can be shared equally as Yogendra Yadav can help him raising funds. Yogendra Yadav isn’t the first one to offer help to Gautam Adani, Saket Gokhale too has offered financial tips to Gautam Adani. Reportedly, Saket Gokhale has suggested Future and Options to Gautam Adani in Adani Group companies.

  • New York’s massive budget surplus gives Hochul money to spend

New York’s massive budget surplus gives Hochul money to spend

    [ad_1]

“This is a pivotal moment for our state,” Hochul said. “We can’t just sit on the sidelines and wish things were different. If we want to make real progress for our people, we can.”

She described the nuts and bolts of a series of proposals aimed at achieving the New York Dream that were broadly outlined in her State of the State address last month. And she’s benefiting from an $8.7 billion surplus thanks to higher-than-expected tax revenue to fund projects and programs to appease a wide variety of constituencies.

Hochul wants record increases in education and Medicaid spending — to $34.4 billion and $27.8 billion respectively. Hochul’s plan would set aside more than $1 billion to help New York City pay some costs of providing social services to new asylum seekers.

She proposed new funding streams for the beleaguered Metropolitan Transportation Authority, including raising payroll taxes on downstate businesses, using revenue from planned casinos and setting aside $300 million in one-time aid. She also rejected any income tax increases.

She laid out various provisions of her plan for 800,000 new homes over the next decade, which would require municipalities around the state to meet housing production targets or make zoning changes.

And she announced a four-year extension for completing projects covered by the expired 421-a tax break, but did not suggest a specific replacement for the incentive program that builders say will be necessary for the kind of housing growth she is seeking.

Many of Hochul’s ideas carry broad conceptual support among Democrats looking to expand opportunities for communities that have historically been passed over, and Hochul will spend the next two months attempting to build consensus among members of the state Legislature for the fiscal year that starts April 1.

But she begins that process on rocky terms, at least in the Senate, where she’s threatened legal action after a Senate panel rejected her pick for chief judge last month. Leaders are downplaying any potential stalemates amid the acrimony. Hochul made a point to greet just two people — both Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie — before taking the podium Wednesday.

She also cracked open the door to some historically contentious debates in the Legislature, including permitting more charter schools across the state by lifting a regional cap in state law and expanding the amount of discretion that judges would have to set bail for more serious offenses.

She characterized both bail and charter school expansion as measures to provide clarity in otherwise odd implementations of the current status quo, rather than the political grenades they’ve become. Much of her election battle last year centered on rising crime and criticism of the state’s bail laws.

“Let’s just simply provide clarity,” she said of her bail law proposal. “Let’s ensure judges consider factors for serious offenders. And let’s leave the law where it is for low level offense and move forward to focus on two other public safety challenges.”

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, during an availability with reporters following Hochul’s address, said he was briefed the previous evening but was still, “wrapping his arms around” Hochul’s proposals.

He did note that charter school expansion has typically been “tough” for his conference; the powerful teachers unions oppose an expansion. And he’s skeptical of any suggestion that the state’s bail laws are the solution to increases in crime, instead suggesting that the Legislature should take a more holistic approach.

“We’ve got to get off that focus on those four letters [B.A.I.L] and start looking at the entire totality of public safety,” he said.

The state is on sound financial footing this year, and officials project the $8.7 billion surplus can be used to help the state build its reserves to 15 percent of state operating funds by 2025.

Progressive groups analyzing Hochul’s proposal were quick to point out what they saw as missed opportunities when the state has the cash to take aggressive action, including affordable housing advocates who say tenants rights should take precedence in trying to make New York more affordable.

“Governor Hochul’s plan prioritizes deregulation and luxury housing production. It is for real estate moguls, not working families,” tenants rights activist Cea Weaver said in a response from the Housing Justice for All coalition she represents.

Hochul said that political dynamics surrounding her election and legislative relationships did not play into how she chose to craft the budget proposal when asked about a proposed expansion of an MTA payroll tax that would affect suburban counties. She did not largely do well in the suburbs last November.

“Nothing I do in the budget is driven by politics, elections, outcomes,” she said. “I’m guided by what is best for New Yorkers.”

  • AAP to launch foray into Rajasthan with massive membership drive

AAP to launch foray into Rajasthan with massive membership drive

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The AAP is set to roll out a massive membership drive in Congress-ruled Rajasthan on Friday as part of its preparations for the assembly polls, likely to be held later this year.

The membership drive will be launched in Jaipur by AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak.

Vinay Mishra, the AAP’s election in-charge for Rajasthan, will also be present.

“The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak and Rajasthan Election In-charge Vinay Mishra will launch a massive membership drive in Rajasthan on January 27,” a senior AAP leader told PTI.

The membership drive will be rolled out at Biyani Group of College in Jaipur, the AAP leader said.

“All the leaders and workers of the AAP’s Rajasthan unit will be present on the occasion,” the leader added.

The move comes within a month of AAP poll strategist Pathak, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, holding a crucial meeting with the party’s Rajasthan unit leaders and volunteers in the national capital. During the meeting, he asked them to pull up their socks to make the party’s foray into the Congress-ruled state a success.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party set its eyes on Rajasthan soon after it stormed to power in Punjab, crushing the ruling Congress in the assembly polls last March.

The party, which could not open its account in its maiden foray into Rajasthan in the 2018 assembly polls, has decided to field candidates in all 200 seats this time.

The AAP contested from 142 assembly seats in the 2018 Rajasthan polls but failed to win a single one.

Buoyed by its electoral success in the assembly polls in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat last year that paved the way for it to earn national party status, the AAP is hoping to gain some toehold in Rajasthan this time.

While the Kejriwal-led party recorded a stupendous victory in the Punjab polls, it managed to breach the BJP’s Gujarat bastion, winning five seats and securing 13 per cent of the vote share in the assembly elections held in two phases in December.

Earlier last year, it won two seats in the Goa assembly polls.

  • After A Missile Strike On A Road In Ukraine, A Massive Explosion Recorded On Camera

After A Missile Strike On A Road In Ukraine, A Massive Explosion Recorded On Camera

    [ad_1]

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published terrifying visuals of a missile hit on a road in Dnipro from the perspective of a vehicle on Thursday. This occurs on the same day as a Ukrainian surface-to-air missile above Kyiv successfully shot down a Russian Kalibr cruise missile.

The sound of the missile hit cuts through the music being played inside the car in dashcam video of a car travelling down a road. The automobile and those nearby start racing to escape the wall of flames and smoke that the missile strike has left behind

“The city of Dnipro. Ukraine. Today. XXI century. Terrorists are still not being punished. We will carry out justice. We will protect the international order,” Ukraine’s Defence Ministry captioned the video.

Russian forces attacked Dnipro today, injuring 14 people, including a 15-year-old girl, according to Ukraine’s first deputy foreign minister Emine Dzheppar, who also released the footage.

“A fragment of Russian missile stuck in the body of women in Dnipro, following Russia’s attack this morning. Doctors make everything possible to save her life. In total, in Dnipro 14 people were injured, including 15 years old girl,” she wrote.

Today, new Russian strikes were reported around Ukraine, the most recent in a string of assaults that have devastated the nation’s energy infrastructure as winter sets in and the temperatures plummet.

The regional administration of Kyiv said that two cruise missiles were shot down over the city today, though details on any injuries or property damage are still sketchy.
