    SRINAGAR: A man allegedly killed his brother after a scuffle broke between the two over some argument in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.

    Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported that an argument ensued between two brothers over some dispute at Kuzweera Budgam, which soon after turned ugly and one of the party attacked the other leaving him grievously injured.

    Before the injured could be rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed.

    The deceased has been injured as  Kaisar Yousaf Zargar son of Mohammad Yousuf Zargar.

    A senior police officer confirming the incident said that a team has been dispatched to the scene to verify the facts.

    Man beaten to death in south Delhi on Holi

    New Delhi: A 32-year-old man was beaten to death following a fight in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Wednesday, police said.

    After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and found Brajesh Kumar, a native of Khagriya in Bihar, dead. The deceased had injury marks on his head, a senior police officer said.

    Probe revealed that a person named Siddharth, who was known to Brijesh, had gone to buy shampoo at a nearby shop and had some altercation with a person there, police said.

    When Siddarth returned, the person whom he had a fight with, also followed him with some of his associates and engaged in a fight with Brijesh, Siddarth and another person named Shubham. During the fight, the assailants hit Brijesh on his head with an iron rod, the officer said.

    He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Legal action is being taken and all accused have been apprehended, police added.

    Thane: A man and his fiancee from Maharashtra’s Thane district have been booked after he allegedly pronounced instant “triple talaq” to his wife, an official said on Wednesday.

    On August 1, 2019, Parliament approved a bill that proposed making “instant “triple talaq” a criminal offence.

    According to the wife’s complaint, her husband and his fiancee abused her on the night of February 26 when she asked him to live with her.

    The man, a Bhiwandi resident, then shouted “talaq-talaq-talaq” and said he had dissolved their marriage, his wife told the police.

    The station house officer of Bhiwandi town police station said a case has been registered against the husband and his fiancee under the Indian Penal Code and the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.

    No one has been arrested yet, said the official.

    Hyderabad: Unable to pay the traffic challans a Laboure reportedly ended life by consuming pesticide under Saidabad police station limits. However, the police claim that the laborer committed suicide due to personal reasons.

    The 52 year old A Yellaiah and his wife Mallamma were staying at Neelam Rajsekhar Reddy in Chintal Basti area. Yellaiah was earning his livelihood by working as a laborer on daily wages while his wife is working as a helper at Sai Baba Temple in the same area.

    The labourer had a bike on which there were several traffic challans pending against his vehicle. Few days ago, the cops of Traffic police station Mirchowk seized his vehicle and asked to pay ten thousand rupees for releasing the bike. Since confiscating of his vehicle the poor man was depressed and was helpless in getting back his motorcycle.

    “Unable to bear the burden of heavy traffic challans, he ended his life, he also wrote a suicide note pleading Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao to take a look at the plight of the poor public who are being burdened by the Traffic Challans” said Mallamma the deceased wife.

    When contacted the Saidabad police denied the reason of traffic challans behind Yellaih’s suicide and said there was a family dispute due to which he ended life.

    The police have registered a case under suspicious death and have taken up investigation. The alleged suicide has also been seized from the spot.

    Ramban, Mar 07: A man was killed and six others were injured when two massive landslides struck Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Seri area of Ramban district on Tuesday, officials said.

    An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two landslides hit the highway at Siri area of Ramban within an hour, resulting in the death of a crane driver working at the site, while six members of a family, travelling in a private car, were injured when their vehicle plunged into a gorge after being hit by a rolling boulder.

    He said the highway was completely blocked from both sides after the landslides, adding that a rescue operation is underway to make the road traffic worthy. He said two vehicles, an earthmover and a private car were also damaged in the incident.

    “Deputy commissioner Ramban Mussrat-ul-Islam and senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mohita Sharma also visited the spot and supervised the rescue operation”, he said.

    Official identified the deceased as Surjeet Singh son of Sher Singh, a resident of Sumber, while as injured were identified as Mohd Taj son of Mohd Ishaq of Kalakote Rajouri, Hamid son of Suba, Rubeena Begum wife of Mohd Shafiq, Sakeena Begum wife of Reyaz Ahmed; Salma Banii daughter of Reyaz Ahmed and Amir son of Mohd Shafeeq all residents of Munglu Rajouri.

    All the six injured were shifted to the district hospital Ramban. Five of them were later referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu for specialized treatment, officials added—(KNO)

    New Delhi: A case has been registered against a passenger on an Air India Kolkata-Delhi flight for allegedly smoking inside the lavatory of the plane, official sources said on Monday.

    The incident was reported on March 4 and the passenger was identified as Anil Meena.

    According to sources, the Air India official handed over the passanger to Delhi Police after he was caught smoking inside the flight’s lavatory.

    “He was smoking inside lavatory when the alarm started ringing which alerted the flight crew,” said an official privy to investigation.

    “The Delhi ATC was informed about the incident and the passenger was handed over to Delhi Police as soon as the flight landed at IGI Airport.

    “On interrogation, the man disclosed that he was a chain smoker,” said the official.

    On Sunday, the Delhi police has lodged a case against a student for allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger on a New York-Delhi American Airlines Flight.

    The student was said to be drunk at the time of the incident.

    The incident allegedly took place on flight number AA292, which took off from New York on Friday and landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi at 10.12 p.m. on Saturday.

    Hyderabad: A person who allegedly sexually assaulted a minor boy and made his video viral on social media was booked under POCSO act and arrested by the Bhavani Nagar police.

    Though the crime took place on January 26, this year the police took cognizance of this heinous act after the purported video went viral on social media. Mohammed Ismail Ali a police constable working with the Bhavani Nagar police has filed a complaint with police alleging while performing patrolling duties at Talabkatta main road, he noticed a viral video on social media in which one person is offering alcohol to one minor boy to drink and also committing sexual assault on that boy in a room.

    The police constable also alleged that the accused is identified as Abdul Irfan a resident of star colony at Talabkatta.

    Taking cognizance of the video the Bhavani Nagar police have filed a case under IPC section 342 (wrongful confinement),Sec 7 r/w 8 POCSO Act and 67 of IT Act against Abdul Irfan. The investigation of the case was taken up by Mohammed Amjad Ali, Inspector of Police Bhavani Nagar police station.

    Hyderabad: Ten persons have been arrested for allegedly hacking a Dalit man to death in Petbasheerabad on March 1. The deceased had eloped with a woman of another caste.

    The couple – 28-year-old Devarakonda Harish, a DJ sound system operator, and 25-year-old Manisha – had eloped to get married.

    Manisha’s brother Deendayal, 30, was arrested along with his friends – Naresh, Venkatesh Goud, Rohit Singh, Band Venkat, Gaddam Akshay Kumar, Parwary Aniketh, Koyalkar Manish, Bure Sainath, and Mathangi Rajendra Kumar.

    While Harish was a resident of Sooraram, Manisha lived in Ziyaguda area of the city. They would constantly talk on the phone. Harish was repeatedly warned by Manisha’s family members to stay away from her but the couple did not pay heed.

    On February 22, the couple eloped and rented an apartment in Petbasheerabad. They were soon planning to get married.

    However, on the night March 1, Harish and Manisha were attacked by her brother and his friends near Anjaneya Swamy temple in Dulapally, the police said. Harish was stabbed to death and Manisha was taken away.

    Correction

    Siasat.com had earlier reported about the same incident and mentioned the woman belonging to a Muslim community. However, according to the Petbasheerabad police, the woman belongs to a backward community. It is not an inter-faith honour killing.

    Sopore, Mar 5 (GNS): A 50-year-old Sopore resident who had sustained injuries in a mysterious blast last month has succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura, officials said.

    They told GNS that Mohammad Jamal Dar (50), a resident of Warpora was undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura after he received critical injuries from some mysterious blast while digging earth at his kitchen garden in morning hours on February 23, 2023.

    After remaining at the hospital for all these days, he eventually breathed his last this afternoon, they said.

    The police had already registered a case even as investigations going on into the incident. (GNS)
