  • FCIK Congratulates JK Bank For Making All-Time High Profit

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) congratulated JK Bank for making an all-time high net profit of 1197 Crores in the last financial year besides improving significantly upon all other banking parameters.

In a statement FCIK while attributing the remarkable achievement of the bank to its dedicated and hardworking management and staff, the apex industrial body said that the bank has improved its outlook towards accelerated regrowth of the J&K economy and high-end sustainability.

FCIK equally attributed the success and achievement of J&K Bank to its loyal depositors from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh whose deposits accounted for 88.20% of total deposits of Rs.122038 Crores with 6% growth from the last year. FCIK observed that this deposit profile has played an important role in maintaining the margins of the bank as the cost of these deposits stood at one of the lowest rates amoung the Indian scheduled commercial banks, implying lower than peers’ deposit costs @ 3.67%.

“Such a gesture depicted and displayed an emotional bonding of the people of UTJKL with the bank since its inception in 1938 which needed to be respected, maintained and enhanced further.

“The achievement is also attributed to the borrowers of the bank  who have obtained loans from the bank and returned the same with one of the highest interest rates among the Indian scheduled commercial banks” observed FCIK adding that the bank might have been within its right to cover prevalent risk factors while overcharging their borrowers during turbulent times when all other banks had backed out from flowing credit to various economic sectors including MSMEs.

“Although the improvement upon Credit-Deposit ratio to 67.43% by the bank was fair yet it was much below the national average of 75%” observed FCIK adding that J&K Bank needed to fully concentrate on the increased credit flow to all economic sectors in UTJKL as it was observed that out of total advances of Rs.82285 a significant portion has been advanced to large corporate and other enterprises outside the Union Territory.

“The recoveries made from the NPA account holders after the launch of OTS-2022, Karz Mukti Scheme etc. have also aided in the increased profit earning of the bank”, observed FCIK adding that the profit could have increased further had the bank authorities conceded to the demand of FCIK and other business chambers for modification of the OTS schemes.

FCIK said that it was gratifying that the net NPA of J&K Bank stood just at 1.62% to net advances probably one of the lowest in the banking industry and that all borrowers of UTJKL were anxious to repay every penny of their loans borrowed from the bank on launch of a uniform, non-discriminatory OTS with trouble-free provisions and repayment schedule in consultation with the UT government and stakeholders. FCIK hoped that J&K Bank now initiated necessary steps towards launching such a policy which, among other things, could surely enable them to increase the current year’s profits to an all-time high by surpassing the profit figures of the previous year.

Microsoft to stop making its mice, keyboards, webcams

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Microsoft has said that it will no longer manufacture mice, keyboards, and webcams under the Microsoft brand, instead, it will develop Surface-branded PC accessories, which include mice, keyboards, pens, and more, the media reported.

According to The Verge, the move ends the legacy of Microsoft-branded PC hardware launched in 1983 with Word and Notepad bundled together.

“Going forward, we are focusing on our Windows PC accessories portfolio under the Surface brand,” says Dan Laycock, senior communications manager at Microsoft, was quoted as saying.

    MS Education Academy

“We will continue to offer a range of Surface-branded PC Accessories — including mice, keyboards, pens, docks, adaptive accessories, and more. Existing Microsoft branded PC accessories like mice, keyboards, and webcams will continue to be sold in existing markets at existing sell-in prices while supplies last,” it added.

Moreover, the report stated that the Surface family of accessories will include several great keyboards and mice, but they will be more expensive than Microsoft-branded alternatives.

However, it is unclear whether Microsoft will introduce more budget-friendly Surface accessories or shift entirely to more premium accessories.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has reported $52.9 billion in sales, up 7 per cent with net income at $18.3 billion, which increased 9 per cent (year-on-year) in its quarter that ended March 31.

Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT has become a rage worldwide, which has the capabilities to transform many industries.

Microsoft Cloud reported revenue of $28.5 billion, up 22 per cent year-over-year, said the company.

However, sales in the ‘More Personal Computing’ segment were $13.3 billion and decreased 9 per cent and Windows OEM revenue decreased 28 per cent.

  • My mother’s grief is making our relationship toxic | Ask Annalisa Barbieri

My mother’s grief is making our relationship toxic | Ask Annalisa Barbieri

    [ad_1]

I am a woman in my late 30s, married with two small children with a rewarding and demanding career. I live some hours’ drive away from where I grew up and where my mum lives. I really love my life but I need some advice regarding my relationship with my mum.

My lovely dad died last year. He was much loved and I miss him a great deal, but he gave me so much over his lifetime that I am doing OK without him. My family has probably had more loss than most. One sister died before I was born, and another older sister in her early 30s.

My mum has called the loss of my dad the hardest of all – she says it compounds all the other losses (she was dealing fairly well with them all before his death). I love her very much but I feel responsible for her and guilty that I live so far away. She’s upset that we don’t live closer. She is in her mid-70s, in good health but always tired. She has an excellent friendship network, including great neighbours.

She wants to be thought of as helpful to me with the kids (but she isn’t really). I feel I have to tiptoe around her, validate her and let her critical comments go over my head. I often dread seeing her, but know I shouldn’t given I am all she has left. I feel very guilty about our relationship, but also powerless.

I feel I need to try harder, be kinder and more patient, but I really am trying my hardest and I do suspect that actually she is a bit angry with me and is pretty mean to me from time to time. I can’t win.

What a huge amount of loss you and your mother have suffered. I am so sorry. You are treading a very tight line and one a lot of readers will recognise, the one between retaining some sanity for yourself but being a “good enough” daughter. All while grieving.

Your mother probably has a lot of “caring” to give that is now fully focused in your direction; and I would guess she is actually quite scared to fully let herself care for you for fear of another loss, hence also being mean (this is not an excuse however). But you are not responsible for your mother. You have your own losses to deal with and you have young children and they are your priority. If you deplete yourself you won’t have very much left for yourself/your children.

I consulted clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist Poul Rohleder. He noted immediately the loss of a child born before you. “Maybe even as a baby you picked up an emotional atmosphere, that there was a grief you had to make better.” Babies are masters at picking up moods and non-verbal cues.

We wondered what growing up was like and if you felt the burden of making your mum happy, and if being with your mother [now] is possibly a reminder of the pain you want to get away from yourself?

Rohleder wondered how much your losses had been spoken of and how much your own grief “has been worked through. Sometimes it’s helpful to move away from pain but sometimes we have to face into it, and work through it.”

Have you and your mum (separately – Rohleder thought it was important for you to untangle your grief from your mum’s) looked into bereavement counselling? Perhaps if your mum had somewhere to “bring” her grief that would be one less thing for you to worry about.

I also wondered what you were looking for with your mum? Can you accept that some visits/conversations won’t be ideal? Do you feel that she will die if you don’t stay in touch? That’s a very “young” feeling – that if you abandon her or ignore her, she will suffer – and one you may have picked up as a child.

A few practical solutions: is there an adopt a granny scheme where you live? Could your mum get a pet – it sounds trite but can work wonders. I’d also like you to listen to this podcast I did on dealing with a difficult older parent which may help.

Lucknow: The father and brother-in-law of a newly-married woman have been arrested for strangling her and making her drink toilet cleaner.

The woman was found naked in the bushes on the Lucknow-Delhi highway on Wednesday.

SSP (Bareilly) Prabhakar Chowdhary said the woman, Munni Devi, a resident of Dhadha village under Shahi police station limits of Bareilly district, was found lying in an injured state under Fatehganj West police station./

The woman, was spotted by some passers-by who informed the police. She was rushed to a hospital where she is battling for life.

“Tota Ram, the father, and her elder sister’s husband, Dinesh, have been arrested for making her forcibly drink acid and throttling her. The accused committed the crime due to ‘social humiliation’ caused by the woman’s illicit relationship with another man,” the police official said.

The woman was unable to speak due to her burn injuries and confirmed her identity by writing her name on paper, after which the entire story behind the incident came to fore, said the officer.

Circle officer (Meerganj) informed media persons that Munni Devi was in a relationship with one Ajay Kumar for many years, but her family members did not approve of it.

Her father said she had eloped with Ajay Kumar twice in the past, added the CO.

He said the woman’s family forcibly got the woman married to one Devendra of Badaun on April 22 and she was shifted from Bareilly.

But she remained in touch with Ajay Kumar. The woman’s father stated she was even found talking to Ajay Kumar on phone when they reached there and was adamant on living with her lover despite getting married to another person, said the CO.

The CO said the woman’s father and brother-in-law took her along when Devendra expressed desire not to live with her.

Invoking the Amul-Nandini row, Priyanka said, “Nandini Milk earlier used to produce 90 lakh litres of milk and milk products, but today only 70 lakh litres of milk is being produced.” “The government deliberately reduced the production of milk so that Amul milk could be brought to Karnataka,” she alleged.

She said it is time for a change in Karnataka as BJP has not done any constructive work in the state. “They (BJP) have not done any constructive work for Karnataka. So it is time for a change.

In the last three years, everything has been on downhill in the state, be it facilities or infrastructure. People know from their ownexperiences about the governance of the BJP,” she added.
