Maha: Shinde’s Sena grabbing ‘shakhas’, says Uddhav faction LS MP Vichare

    [ad_1]

Thane: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Thane Lok Sabha MP Rajan Vichare on Monday said functionaries of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena had usurped a ‘shakha’ (local office) that had been for running here for several years when the party was undivided.

Despite an undertaking in the Supreme Court and public statements by Chief Minister Shinde that he or his supporters are not keen to lay claim on Sena properties, ‘shakhas’ were being grabbed, Vichare alleged at a press conference.

The Lokmanya Nagar ‘shakha’ has been taken over by Shinde’s supporters by force, he alleged.

The Election Commission, earlier this month, recognised the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena and allotted it the bow and arrow symbol.

Since then, there has been speculation over the ownership of the undivided party’s properties, including ‘shakhas’, which are local offices where the cadre assemble through the day.

Several of these are rented properties or those given for use by party workers.

  • BJP-NDA will win LS, Maha Assembly polls in 2024, says Gadkari

BJP-NDA will win LS, Maha Assembly polls in 2024, says Gadkari

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday exuded confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance would retain power at the Centre and in Maharashtra in polls next year on the basis of development work done since 2014.

Speaking at the ABP Network’s Ideas of India Summit here, Gadkari, who is the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, also said the NDA government had instilled a sense of confidence in the people through its development work and good governance.

” We will win and once again the BJP and NDA will form the government in both Maharashtra and at the Centre. The good work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will yield good results,” Gadkari said.

The performance audit is more important than the financial audit, he said, adding the (five-year) performance (of elected representatives) is reviewed by the public at the time of polls.

“Our performance is our strength and this is what people expect from us as well. We have instilled confidence in people through our good work, which we will take to them,” Gadkari said.

Asserting his party keeps a very “positive attitude” and that whatever work it has done on the basis of opportunities provided to it, the Union minister said “the performance rating card of our party, our leadership and our ministers is definitely very important”.

“I can say with confidence the work that has been done in the last (more than) eight years under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is far more when compared with 60 years of Congress rule,” Gadkari said.

On the growth of green transport, the minister said, “Hydrogen is our future fuel and India’s future vehicles will run on hydrogen and green fuels.”

Though his ministry never spoke about electric vehicle (EV) targets for the year 2030, Gadkari said, in the coming years, India will certainly shift to electric vehicles.

“We import Rs 16 lakh crore worth of fossil fuel every year but pretty soon our farmers will produce green fuel and green hydrogen,” he said, adding that Lithium ion batteries will lead the shift from petrol and diesel driven cars.

Reiterating that Lithium ion battery costs will come down in the next year or so, the minister said India will soon become a net exporter of Lithium and become a major global player.

Expressing satisfaction at the development of highways in the country, Gadkari said, “In the coming years, public transport will be revolutionised in the country and the new highways will bring down travel time between key cities drastically.

He, however, said his ministry and the government had failed to curb the accident rate on Indian roads.

“We wanted to reduce road accidents by 50 per cent by 2024 but we are not going to achieve it,” he said.

For this, he said, human behaviour has to change as people were still not following rules of red lights, car seat belts or two wheeler helmets.

Gadkari sought the introduction of road safety education at the primary level to make Indians aware about this at a young age.

Maha: Saffron clad men burst crackers outside Vishalgadh Dargah

    [ad_1]

A week ago, a Hindutva mob in Kolhapur Maharashtra’ Vishalgadh village, launched crackers near the Hazrat Malik Rehan Dargah.

Saffron clad men in several videos launched crackers, all while shouting “Jai Shri Ram” to supposedly celebrate Mahashivratri.

In a video gone viral, a man clad in a saffron cap and scarf, can be seen placing the rocket between two rocks. The head of the rocket faces the Dargah and as it bursts, loud chants of Jai Shree Ram emanate from the crowd behind the camera.

A second later, the video pans to showcase a sea of men, cheering loudly with phones in their hands (presumably to record a video of the cracker bursting).

As the men continue to dance, the camera tilts upward showing the Hindutva flag. The last few seconds of the video also shows men dressed in police uniforms right outside the dargah.

In another video, Hindutva pop music plays as the crowd bursts a cracker right in front of the same Dargah.

A famous Dargah named after Hazrat Sayed Malik Rehan Meera Saheb, which is frequented by tourists, is located at the Vishalgadh fort.

Maha: Name change of Aurangabad and Osmanabad cities gets Centre’s nod

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Union government has approved the renaming of Maharashtra’s Aurangabad city as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’ and the Osmanabad city as Dharashiv’.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared the news on Twitter.

Aurangabad derives its name from Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, while Osmanabad was named for a 20th century ruler of the princely state of Hyderabad.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji, the eldest son of warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was the second ruler of the Maratha state founded by his father. Sambhaji Maharaj was executed on Aurangzeb’s orders in 1689.

Dharashiv, the name of a cave complex near Osmanabad, dates back to the 8th century as per some scholars.

Hindu right-wing organisations had been demanding renaming of the two cities for long.

Fadnavis tweeted two letters from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the deputy secretary of the state General Administration Department dated February 24.

The letters stated that the Centre had no objection to the change in the names of these two central Maharashtra cities.

Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the decision.

The state government headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ”did what was promised ”, he said.

Notably, to rename Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv was the last cabinet decision of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government which collapsed last June following Shinde’s rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray.

The new government headed by Shinde scrapped the cabinet decision and took a fresh decision.

Maha ex-CM Ashok Chavan claims being ‘watched’, Shinde orders police probe

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said that he has directed state Director General of Police to probe complaints submitted by former CM Ashok Chavan that he is under the “surveillance” of some elements in Mumbai and Nanded.

“I have spoken with Chavan and also with the DGP. I have given instructions to carry out a detailed investigation into the issues raised by Chavan,” Shinde said.

Chavan made a shocking claim that he was allegedly shadowed and under the “watch” of some persons and how someone had forged his letterhead as the PWD Minister of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

He said that the letter, dated May 5, 2022 was written to the then CM Uddhav Thackeray with the intent to create an impression that he was working against the Maratha community.

“I am under the watch of a few people who are following me everywherea where I go, whom I meet and are warning that I should meet the same fate as the late Vinayak Mete,” Chavan told media persons in Nanded and Pune in the past two days.

The reference was to the Maratha leader and Shiv Sangram chief Mete, who was killed in a road accident on August 14, 2022 on the Mumbai Pune Expressway. After his family raised suspicions over his death, three days later, Shinde ordered a CID probe into the tragedy.

Chavan said that he has filed a complaint on the forged letter with Nanded’s Additional Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar pointing out how the text of an earlier letter was replaced without touching the letterhead and signature to convey a misleading narrative.

Rushing to Chavan’s support, state Congress President Nana Patole demanded to know whether the state government is conspiring to eliminate Opposition party leaders.

“Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut has given a complaint of a contract to kill him. Now a former CM Chavan is under surveillance and has spoken of plans to finish him. Why is an ex-CM of the state being trailed and what is the motive,” demanded Patole.

Besides, he pointed out the instance of the attacks on Sena-UBT leader Aditya Thackeray’s vehicle in Aurangabad, the assault on Congress MLA Dr. Pragya R. Satav, and other similar cases involving opposition parties leaders in the past 7 months, and the recent threats issued to Nationalist Congress Party leader Dr. Jitendra Awhad and his family.

Patole said that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated and if the people in power are working to eliminate the Opposition, then it is a disgrace for democracy.

He urged the state government to immediately look into all these cases and take appropriate action against the culprits.

Maha police swoop in Hyderabad, nab 2 Maoists on the run for 17 years

    [ad_1]

Gadchiroli: In a swoop in Hyderabad, the Maharashtra Police has arrested two dreaded Maoists – a husband-wife couple – who were absconding from the law for the past 17 years, an official said here on Monday.

They are Madhukar Chinanna Kodape, alias Thuge, 42, and his wife Jamani Mangalu Punam, alias Shamala, 35, said Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal.

Hailing from Aheri here, Thuge had joined the Sironcha dalam in 2002, and later was the commander in Jimalgata and Sironcha Local Organisation Squads (LOS).

With 25 serious cases like 9 murders, 8 encounters, 4 arsons, 2 dacoities, attempt to murder and others, Thuge went absconding around 2006 and Maharashtra government had announced a reward of Rs 8 lakh for his capture.

Belonging to Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, Shamala worked for the Aheri LOS as a member and had 9 serious offences of 1 murder, 5 encounters, arson, dacoity, etc. and carried a prize of Rs 2 lakh on her head.

As per the Maharashtra Police investigations, the fugitive Thuge-Shamala couple had reportedly quit the Maoist movement and had been moving from place to place in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to avoid detection.

The Gadchiroli police was tracking them for over a year and finally found Thuge working as a watchman and Shamala serving in a car showroom’s housekeeping, under fake identities.

Zeroing on their location in Hyderabad, a Gadchiroli police team swooped on them early this morning and arrested them.

With this latest success, the Gadchiroli police said it has succeeded in arresting 64 hardcore Maoists from different parts in the past 13 months since January 2022, even as SP Neelotpal appealed to the rebels to give up arms and return to the social mainstream.

Maha: No love jihadi shall remain alive, says Raja Singh at public rally

    [ad_1]

Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and former Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh made a call for ‘Undivided Hindu Rashtra’ on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanthi in Maharashtra.

Addressing a huge public rally in Latur district on Sunday, Raja spoke about Love Jihad, Hindu Rashtra, and his recent arrest by the Telangana police.

He also mentioned Afzal Khan, a general who served the Adil Shahi dynasty of Bijapur Sultanate during the 1600s, was killed by Chhatrapati Shivaji.

With Afzal as a reference, Singh made a provocative statement that said, “Jitne Afzal ke naajayaz awlaade hai, un sabko nahi chodna. Shivaji Maharaj ne Afzal ka seena phaadkar bagwaa rang lehraya tha. Aaj har gali mein, har vidhaan sabha mein ek Afzal hai. Tho socho hamein kitne Chhatrapati Maharaj ka roop lena hoga (Today, Afzal Khan’s descendants are found in every lane, every Vidhan Sabha. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj murdered Afzal Khan and raised the Hindu flag. Just think, how many of us have to become a Shivaji to murder an Afzal).”

He then spoke about love jihad provoking the crowd to murder every Muslim man who is in a relationship with a Hindu woman.  “Hamare Maharashtra ke dharthi per koi bhi love jihadi zinda na bache. Aaj hamari bahu-beti ko behla-phuslakar Love Jihad ke naam per fasaya jaa raha hai. Bacha paida karne ki machine banaya jaa raha hai. Rape and unke tukde kiya jaa raha hai. (No love jihadi will survive on the soil of Maharashtra. They trap Hindu women and make them slaves by producing more and more children. They rape them and cut them into pieces),” Raja said.

Hamare secular bhaiyon aur beheno ko batana chahatha hoon ki hum kabhi bhai-behen nahi ho sakthe. (I just want to convey to my secular brothers and sisters that we can never be brothers),” Raja spoke among energizing cheering among the crowd.

Singh went on to raise slogans such as ‘humse jo takrayega mitti mein mil jayega’ as the crowd cheered on.

Raja Singh also mentioned his recent bail and the restrictions imposed on him by the Telangana High Court and police.

Mujhe police ka notice diya gaya ki aapko kuch bhi nahi bolna hai. Maine kahan bilkul, hum kuch nahi bolenge. Lekin ithihaas kabhi jhuk nahi saktha aur Raja Singh kabhi rukh nahi saktha. Hamare dharam ke liye humne hamari kursi ko bhi laath maar di hai. Mera ek hee sankalp hai, jab tak jeeyoon, Chhatrapati Maharaj ke marg darshan per jeeyon. (I was told by the police not to say a word. I said ok. But history cannot be erased and Raja Singh cannot be tied down. I gave up my MLA position for my religion. I just want to live under the guidance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj till my end.),” he said.

On August 23 last year, T Raja Singh was booked by the Telangana police under the PD Act (Preventive Detention Act) for making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed in a video posted by him.

His comments lead to scores of people protesting on the streets demanding his arrest. The Telangana unit of the BJP also disassociated itself from his statements.

He was granted bail in February by the Telangana High Court after spending 76 days in prison.

Case against Sanjay Raut on charge of making derogatory remarks against Maha CM Shinde

    [ad_1]

Nashik: Nashik Police have registered a case against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, an official said on Monday.

Shinde faction officer-bearer Yogesh Beldar lodged a complaint at Panchavati police station here late Sunday night, alleging that during an interaction with a TV channel, Raut used derogatory words against CM Shinde and maligned his image, he said.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Raut under Indian Penal Code Section 500 (defamation), the official said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Pune on Saturday, said those who chose to “lick the soles” of people with opposite ideologies have found which side truth was on after the Election Commission declared the faction headed by CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena and gave it the ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

When asked about Shah’s remark, Rajya Sabha member Raut on Sunday said, “What is the present chief minister licking? Maharashtra doesn’t give importance to what Shah says.”

Raut in a tweet on Sunday also claimed that a “deal of Rs 2000 crore” has taken place so far to “purchase” the Shiv Sena party name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol, a charge dismissed by the Shinde faction and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
