    According to National Center for Seismology, the epicenter was in Baramulla district and the quake took place at a depth of 10 km.

    It said the earthquake occurred at 02:28 pm Indian standard time.

    Experts have warned of a major earthquake in the region as J&K falls in the seismic Zone IV and V.

    Jakarta: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 jolted 96 km north of Tuban, Indonesia at on Friday, the US Geological Survey said.

    The epicenter of the quake that hit the region at 09:55:45 GMT, was initially determined to be at 6.0255 degrees south latitude and 112.0332 degrees east longitude, Xinhua News Agency reported.

    Its depth was 594.028 km.

    Andaman and Nicobar: An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Ritcher scale occurred 140 km ENE of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar island on Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

    The earthquake occurred at around 10.47 pm.

    “Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.6, Occurred on March 4, 2023, 22:47:49 IST, Lat: 9.12 and Long: 94.22, Depth: 60 Km, Location: 237 km N of Campbell Bay, Andaman and Nicobar island,” tweeted NCS.

    On April 1, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Ritcher scale occurred 140km ENE of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar Island at 11:56 pm according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

    “Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on March 31, 2023, at 23:56:44 IST, Lat: 12.20 and Long: 93.88, Depth: 28 Km, Location: 140 km ENE of Portblair, Andaman and Nicobar island,” tweeted NCS.

    Kabul: An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck 85 kilometres East of Kabul in Afghanistan on Wednesday, according to National Center (NCS) for Seismology.

    Taking to its official Twitter handle, the NCS stated that the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres.

    National Center (NCS) for Seismology tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 29-03-2023, 05:49:06 IST, Lat: 34.45 & Long: 70.13, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 85km E of Kabul, Afghanistan.”

    Further details are awaited.

    Earlier on Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale struck 25 kilometres South of the Farkhar district of Takhar province in Afghanistan, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

    According to the USGS, the quake occurred at 04:53:29 (UTC+05:30) at a depth of 124.1 Km. The epicentre was detected at 36.345°N and 69.912°E respectively.

    A powerful earthquake of 6.8-magnitude had jolted the city on Tuesday night and its epicentre was in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, while its depth was 156 kilometres.

    Islamabad:An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude shook parts of Pakistan on Tuesday, killing nine people and injuring over 160 others, local media reported.

    The epicentre of the earthquake was Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, while its depth was 180 kilometres, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

    Earthquake tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, and other areas of the country.

    Strong tremors were also felt in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Kot Momin, Madh Ranjha, Chakwal, Kohat and in Gilgit-Baltistan areas, local media reported.

    Television footage showed panic-stricken citizens out on the streets.

    The earthquake killed nine people, including two women, and injured over 160 others as well as causing many buildings to collapse, authorities said, according to a Geo News report.

    At the time of the earthquake, a stampede was reported in the markets of Rawalpindi, The Express Tribune newspaper reported.

    Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asked disaster management officials to remain vigilant to handle any situation, according to state-run Associated Press of Pakistan.

    An emergency was declared in the hospitals of the federal capital on the instructions of Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel, The Express Tribune reported.

    According to the international seismological centre, apart from Pakistan, tremors were also felt in India, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China and Kyrgyzstan.

    Earthquakes are common in Pakistan.

    A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Islamabad in January this year.

    The deadliest quake hit the country in 2005, which killed more than 74,000 people.

    JAMMU, Mar 5: An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 struck Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

    The NCS in a tweet said that the 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck north of J&K capital Srinagar at 6:57 am. There were no immediate reports of damage from J&K.

    The J&K earthquake was reported by the NCS shortly after two earthquakes were reported in Afghanistan-Tajikistan region. The NCS in another tweet shared that a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck the region of Tajikistan bordering Afghanistan at 6:10 am.

    The NCS said, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3 occurred on 05-03-2023, 06:10:37 IST, Lat: 37.72 & Long: 73.48, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 267km ENE of Fayzabad.”

    A second earthquake also struck Afghanistan just before the J&K earthquake, according to United States Geological Survey (USGS).

    The USGS earthquake tracker shows a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan bordering Tajikistan at 6:56 am IST — just a minute before the J&K earthquake reported by NCS.

    Late on Saturday night, another earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was struck the same region, according to NCS.
