    A video of an elderly Pakistani shepherd wandering around the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah in a simple yet eye-catching attire, goes viral on social media platforms.

    In a viral video clip, 82-year-old Abdul Qadir Baksh can be seen walking in the courtyard of Prophet’s Mosque barefoot and frail, with a long muslin cloth draped over his turban.

    What caught the photographer’s eye was his innocence and unworldly attitude. Many compared his appearance exectly that of Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA)— closest companion and advisor of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

    Abdul Qadir Baksh from Hub Balochistan, has just returned back to the country after offering Umrah.

    He had been saving money for 15 years to make the pilgrimage and does not even own a mobile phone.

    “I feel like all my worries have vanished. My heart is content. I am not even short of sustenance, I am happy. My wish to visit the shrine of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Makkah have been granted,” Bakhsh told Arab News.

    Baksh also expressed his desire to go on Hajbthis time, praying to ALLAH to grant him success.

    The video gained a lot of traction and even high-profile figures such as adviser to Saudi Crown Prince Turki Al-Sheikh tweeted about finding Baksh.

    Chairman of the Entertainment Authority, Turki Al Sheikh, wrote on Twitter, in response to the video clip of Abdul Qadir, and said good news, who will guide me to it?

    Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has offered Haj sponsorship to Abdul Qadir Baksh after watching his video.

    “Wonderful & will be glad if he accepts our offer to sponsor him for his Hajj Travels,” he tweeted.

    Abu Dhabi: United Arab Emirates (UAE) astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, who is currently on a six-month space mission to the International Space Station (ISS) shared an incredible view of Saudi Arabia’s Makkah and Madinah.

    Al Neyadi tweeted a video of the Kingdom’s holy sites on the 27th night of Ramzan, calling the footage “a gift for Salman’s children on these blessed nights”.

    “A dedication to the country of the Two Holy Mosques, the landing site of revelation and the land of the message, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he added.

    The video shows Makkah and Madinah completely lit up, and stunning images of the Grand Mosque.

    Al Neyadi pans the camera over Madinah and says, “This is Madinah, the city to which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) immigrated with his beloved people.”

    Then he moves the camera to show Jeddah.

    “This is the city of Jeddah, often referred to as the Bride of the Red Sea,” Al Neyadi says.

    Then move the camera to show Makkah and says, “The holy city of Makkah, where the message of Islam was rooted with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.”

    Al Neyadi then points to the light from the Grand Mosque in the city centre, which can be seen shining brightly in the video, even from space.

    Al Neyadi’s special gift came as crowds of worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers on Monday at the Grand Mosque to glorify the 27th night of Ramzan, while also celebrating the last ten days of Ramzan, which many Muslims consider the most blessed.

    Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi made history on March 2 by becoming the first Arab to join a long-term space mission that will last six months as part of SpaceX’s crew.

    The mission is a historic landmark for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

    The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavor, aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, carried the Emirati astronaut along with two NASA astronauts, Mission Commander Stephen Bowen, Pilot Warren Hoburg, and Roscosmos Cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

    Sultan Al Neyadi will be the first Arab to walk in space when he exits the International Space Station on April 28.

    Riyadh: As part of the Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s preservation of urban heritage the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) will renovate the 100-year-olf Al-Qalaa mosque in the town of Hanakiya, about 102 kms northeast of Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    The historic Madinah-style mosque renovation will increase its area from 181.75 square meters to 263.55 square meters with a capacity to accommodate 171 worshippers.

    The project will use natural materials of mud and local woods to rebuild the mosque in its old form and maintain the construction techniques that distinguish it in its ability to adapt to the local environment and the hot desert climate.

    Al-Qalaa Mosque is one of 30 mosques that Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s project will work to restore in its second phase in all thirteen regions of the Kingdom, including six mosques in Riyadh, five mosques in Makkah, four mosques in Madinah, three in Asir, two in each of the Eastern Region, Al-Jouf, and Jazan, and one mosque in each of the Northern Borders Region, Tabuk, Al-Baha, Najran, Hail, and Al-Qassim.

    As the holy month, Ramzan 1444 AH is around the corner, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has announced the requirements for providing iftar services for those fasting in the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    This came in a statement issued by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet’s Mosque, which it published on its Twitter account.

    Here are the requirements

    • Licenses and commercial records must be valid of the catering contractors for Haj and Umrah
    • The space and area of ​​the facility in the affiliated facilities shall not be less than 600 square metres
    • Each facility must have a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
    • License for minimum of 3 refrigerated food transport vans, equipped with 4 stainless steel trolleys per vehicle
    • Experience in this field without obtaining relevant comments affecting product and service quality
    • Specialized cooling centers with an area of ​​not less than 45 square meters for storage before and after packaging
    • Providing dedicated and equipped sites for packaging, the area of ​​which is not less than 65 square meters.

    The agency also confirmed that iftar service providers in the Prophet’s Mosque are allowed to distribute meals themselves or through catering companies.

    It also pointed out that the distribution of breakfast meals through catering companies will only be for people who will receive a license from them according to the conditions listed in the license and in compliance with the general specifications approved by the Food and Drug Organization.

    It is necessary for Iftar service providers to update their information through the agency website after receiving SMS update request messages. They must also abide by the dates, places, and amounts specified for them in the permit.

    Riyadh: The medical team saved the life of a pilgrim whose heart stopped beating for more than ten minutes in the courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

    The rapid intervention of the rescue team in the Madinah health sector received an urgent notification that a 70-year-old Pakistani pilgrim named Mu’tamir had become unconscious following breathing issues.

    Ambulance services were provided immediately.

    The medical team instantly started CPR with electric shocks for more than 10 minutes until the heart started beating. He was transferred to Al-Safiah Healthcare Center.

    It is noteworthy that the Al-Safiah Center has received seven cases of heart failure, 48 cases of critical respiratory illness, and eight cases of heart attacks at the courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque since the beginning of this year.

    Jeddah: Eight persons including six Umrah pilgrims from India died and 20 others were injured on Tuesday night when a bus transporting them to Madinah rammed into a trailer ahead. The tragic incident occurred nearly 150 KM away from Madinah.

    All six who died hailed from Gulbarga region of Karnataka and were travelling to Madinah from Makkah.

    The deceased were identified as Shafid Hussain Sullad, Bebejan Sullad, Siraj Begum Sullaid, Shifa Sullaid all were from Raichur district. Mohammed Zainuddin and Rehana Begum were from Gulbarga district.

    All the injured were shifted to hospitals in Madinah city by Saudi Crescent, Civil defense and Emergency medical ambulance teams. Indian Consulate officials are also in touch with the bereaved families.

    Gulbarga Welfare Society, a prominent Karnataka NRI organisations in Saudi Arabia, and volunteers reached Madinah city to assist pilgrims and also to complete legal formalities for their burial, said Naser Qurshid of Gulbarga Welfare Society.

    Other two deceased were driver and the other was a catering employee of a tour group, according to primary information.

    On February 8, the Saudi Ministry of Haj announced the launch of Nusuk online platform, to facilitate the registration of Muslim pilgrims from Europe, America and Australia for those who wish to perform Haj this year.

    The Haj pilgrimage to Makkah is a mandatory religious duty that must be performed by those Muslims who are physically and financially able to perform it at least once in a lifetime.
