Saharanpur: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has said that it will challenge in court the Karnataka government’s decision to remove Muslims from the 2B category of ‘Other Backward Classes’ (OBCs), which gave them 4 per cent reservation.

Maulana Mahmood Madani, president of the organisation, termed the move a “grave injustice meted out to Muslims”.

Madani told reporters in Deoband that: “The decision does not go hand-in-hand with Prime Minister Modi’s Pasmanda Muslim upliftment. The Prime Minister, on one hand, is promoting development policy for the marginalised section of Muslims, and on the other hand, his party’s government in Karnataka is snatching away the reservation from them and distributing it among other classes.”

The 4 per cent OBC Muslim quota has been divided between the Vokkaligas and Lingayats. Muslims eligible for quota have been categorised under economically weaker sections (EWS) now.

He argued that various official statistics and reports confirm the fact that the Muslims of India are economically and educationally at the lowest rung of development.

“Hence, no community deserves reservation more than the Muslims,” Madani said.

Calling the move as “the worst example of electoral opportunism and appeasement”, Madani said, “This move only aims to create discord between the two communities. We will approach the court against it.”

We all had 1 common ancestor’: Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind chief Arshad Madani

Saharanpur: While addressing a Holi function on Monday organised by BJP leader Colonel Rajiv Rawat in Bhaila village of Deoband, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani said that we all had one ancestor and people should live in unity.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Arshad said “We all had one ancestor. The Holi festival gives the message of brotherhood. People should live in unity.”

Earlier on February 12, Arshad Madani sparked controversy when he “asked the Dharma Gurus that when there was no one, neither Shri Ram nor Brahma nor Shiva, then whom did Manu worship?”

He added, “Some told me that they used to worship ‘Om’. I said that it is the ‘Om’ only that we refer to as Allah, those speaking Farsi refer as ‘Khuda’ and those speaking English refer as ‘God’.”

“This means that there is only one Om or Allah, and both are the same, and it is the only thing Manu used to worship. There was no Shiv, no Brahma, but only one Om and Allah that was worshipped,” Madani said.

Addressing the session, Madani also said, “Hindus and Muslims have been living in the country like brothers for around 1400 years, and we have never forcibly converted anyone to Islam.”

“It is only under the BJP government that we heard that 20 crore Muslims should be sent home. By sending them home, they meant converting them to Hindus. These people don’t know anything about India’s history,” he added.

VHP slams Jamiat’s Arshad Madani over his ‘Manu worshipped Allah’ remark

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The VHP on Sunday hit out at Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani over his claim that “Om” and “Allah” were the same God worshipped by ‘Manu’, saying his remarks have exposed his “real” mindset.

The remarks by Madani at an event organised to promote amity drew objections from a prominent Jain monk who stormed off the stage along with a group of other religious leaders.

“Was it a ‘Sadbhavna Sammelan’ or a gathering of Jamiat’s poisonous group?” Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said in a video statement, reacting sharply to Madani’s remarks.

The way Madani tried to assert “his supremacy and that of Islam” with his comment in the presence of “Hindu dharma gurus” at the event exposed his real “mindset and character”, Bansal charged,

“You talk about religion and indulge in sinful acts. Shame on you… The mindset of this Jamiat’s gathering will now have to be driven away from this country,” Bansal said.

In a tweet in Hindi, Bansal alleged that an attempt was made to attack the Jain monk at the “Jamiat’s forum” and demanded that Delhi Police take action in the matter.

“Attempt to murderous attack Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni Ji Maharaj at Jamiat Forum is very serious and condemnable. @DelhiPolice should immediately arrest the culprits and his associates,” the VHP leader said.
