Why don’t you lodge FIR against MLAs who took money from Shah: LoP to Gehlot

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s statement about MLAs taking money from Union Home Minister Amit Shah has triggered a political controversy in the state.

A political backlash has started over Gehlot’s statement advising the MLAs of former deputy CM Sachin Pilot’s camp to return the money taken from Amit Shah.

Leader of Opposition Rajendra Singh Rathore targeted Gehlot and said, “Why the MLAs whom the Chief Minister accuses have been made ministers, the public understands all equations. If your MLAs took money then why are you not taking action against them?”

Rathore said “CM Ashok Gehlot is reciting the old drama again. His MLAs who went to Manesar took money, he lodged an FIR at that time and on the instructions of the Chief Minister, who is also the Home Minister, an FR was also lodged. When he is fully aware which of his MLAs took how much money and where it was used, then why is the Chief Minister seeing such a big crime happening as the Home Minister? Why doesn’t he register an FIR? The people of Rajasthan are seeing the difference between words and actions very well with their own eyes,” he added.

Two years have passed, why are you not releasing the list of MLAs who were sold, Rathore said adding, “The MLAs who were traitors in your eyes are sitting in the cabinet. ACB and SOG registered cases in the phone tapping case, FIR No. 47, 48, 49, 129 was also lodged on your instructions and now you are making allegations. The MLA who was a cheater in your eyes is sitting in the cabinet today.”

Gehlot on Sunday had said our MLAs should return the money taken from Amit Shah. Gehlot had said that Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat conspired together to topple our government. Money was distributed to the MLAs in Rajasthan. These people are not taking the money back. I am worried, why are they not taking the money back? I even told our MLAs that those who have taken 10 crores, 20 crores, have spent some of it, then I will give that spent portion, I will get it from AICC. You give the money back to Amit Shah. Don’t keep his money, if you keep his money then there will always be pressure on you.

Tell Mumbai Police to lodge FIR in Solanki’s death: IIT-B students to Fadnavis

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: At least three IIT-Bombay students’ associations have written to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to direct the Mumbai Police and the SIT to accept a complaint by the parents of Darshan Solanki, a Dalit student who ended his life on the campus last month.

The Ambedkar Phule Periyar Study Circle-IITB, the Ambedkarite Students Collective-IITB and Concerned Alumni of IIT-B have sent a letter to Fadnavis, over a month after Solanki (18) reportedly jumped to death from the seventh floor of his hostel on February 12.

Solanki’s parents arrived here last week from Ahmedabad to register a complaint, but the Powai police declined it ostensibly on grounds that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up for the purpose is already probing the case.

Darshan’s father Ramesh Solanki is a plumber, his mother Tarlika is a domestic help, while his sister Jahnavi is studying for her MCA. They have questioned the circumstances leading to Darshan’s death, and rejected outright the interim internal probe panel report of the IIT-B which came out recently.

“Darshan’s parents wanted to lodge an FIR on March 16 and came all the way from Ahmedabad for the purpose. Despite multiple pleas from the parents and accompanying lawyers, the FIR has not been lodged yet,” the students’ associations informed Fadnavis.

They also pointed out that as per the Supreme Court, the police stations can register an FIR regardless of an SIT probe, and the desperate Solanki couple got no succour even after meeting the Mumbai Police top brass later.

“Till now, the SIT based its investigation on the ADR filed by the police. The refusal of SIT to base their investigation on an FIR is a failure to recognise the rights of the family to register a complaint in respect of cognisable offence as provided under the law,” read the letter.

Students’ food poisoning: Karnataka Police lodge FIR against college management

    [ad_1]

Dakshina Kannada: Karnataka Police on Tuesday lodged an FIR against the college management in Dakshina Kannada district in connection with the food poisoning case in which 231 students fell seriously sick after meals at the hostel mess.

District Education Officer Dr Jagadish had lodged a complaint with Kadri police station against the management of the City College of Nursing , alleging that suspicious, poisonous food is being given to girl hostel inmates.

It also mentions that the management has not maintained hygiene during preparation of food and while admitting the students to hospitals, the management had kept the district administration in the dark.

The District Education Officer, Principal, and district officers jointly inspected the kitchen of the hostel. The samples of food items, drinking water, stored meat and other articles have been sent to the lab. The direction had been given not to prepare any food in the kitchen.

Following the incident, the meeting of parents and college management had been organised where parents vented their ire on non-availability of hygienic food, and a few parents maintain that they don’t know in which hospital their kids are being treated. A holiday has been declared in the college till future directions.

Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner M.R. Ravikumar stated on Tuesday that 116 students are still being treated at the various hospitals, and their stools, and blood samples have been sent for testing.

The incident had taken place at around 9 p.m. on Monday. Sources say the students fell sick after eating ghee rice and chicken. While 115 students have returned to the hostel after the treatment, a special medical team, with an ambulance, had been sent to the hostel to monitor their condition.
