“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference,” Trump continued.

The only former president to have been indicted, Trump sought to tie the recent investigation to the 2016 campaign and the events of his subsequent presidency.

“You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this,” Trump said.

Trump repeated, without evidence, another frequent refrain about the “weaponization” of the justice system and continued his verbal assault on Bragg, accusing the district attorney of “doing Joe Biden’s dirty work.”

He finished with a rallying call to MAGA voters amid his campaign for the presidency in 2024.

“So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he said.

In a follow-up post on Truth Social, Trump lashed out at “Thugs and Radical Left Monsters.” In all caps, he further called the indictment an attack on “our once free and fair elections” and the U.S. a “third world nation.”

In a further post, the former president said he “cannot get a fair trial in New York.”

  • Canada’s C$80B response to U.S. clean energy push: ‘We will not be left behind’

    [ad_1]

    resize cp

That, along with the attempt of many Western democracies to reduce their “economic reliance on dictatorships,” Freeland said, “represent the most significant opportunity for Canadian workers in the lifetime of anyone here today.”

Canadian business leaders have long pushed the federal government to mount a competitive response to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, which pledged up to $369 billion in clean growth incentives.

“Without swift action, the sheer scale of U.S. incentives will undermine Canada’s ability to attract the investments needed to establish Canada as a leader in the growing and highly competitive global clean economy. If Canada does not keep pace, we will be left behind,” the budget document reads. “We will not be left behind.”

A senior government official told reporters the budget attempts to put Canada on roughly equal footing with the U.S. by reducing the cost of investment in clean technology. Canada needs about C$100 billion a year in clean tech investment to meet the government’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 — up from current investments of C$15 billion to C$20 billion, the official said.

The budget unveils two new refundable tax credits, including the 15 percent credit for non-emitting electricity generation. The Liberal government has promised Canada will achieve a net-zero electricity grid by 2035, while demand for clean electricity is projected to double by 2050.

The government is also announcing a 30 percent tax credit on manufacturing equipment for renewable and nuclear energy projects, zero-emission vehicles and critical mineral extraction and recycling, expected to cost C$11 billion between now and 2035.

Ottawa is also planning to roll out tax credits for investment in hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and other clean technologies, including geothermal energy. The official said tax credits are the “workhorse” of the government’s plan to compete with the U.S. “They are clear, they are predictable, they are broad-based and they’re broadly available,” the official said.

Canada’s plan targets investment in clean technology — a key difference from the Inflation Reduction Act, which offers tax credits for production. The government official said Ottawa was “not convinced” by the Biden administration’s approach, which doesn’t provide any incentive to improve the efficiency of production over time.

The official also pointed to Canada’s federal carbon pricing regime as a key difference between the two countries’ strategies for driving the low-carbon transition. The budget announces that Canada will use carbon contracts for difference — which offer companies some certainty about the value of carbon credits — as another means to boost clean tech investment without a major outlay of public funds.

“In contrast, the United States has chosen to rely heavily on new industrial subsidies to reduce its emissions,” the document reads.

Robert Asselin, senior vice president for policy at the Business Council of Canada, said the government “did as much as they probably could” with the suite of new tax credits.

“They seem to be fairly well-targeted,” he said. “Whether they’ll have the take-up they want, nobody knows.”

But Asselin added that Canada has so far not matched the U.S. push for research and development in clean technology.

The government is also promising to cut down the amount of time it takes to get major projects off the ground, including mines for critical minerals. The budget pledges a “concrete plan to improve the efficiency of the impact assessment and permitting processes” by the end of 2023.

Ottawa is also pledging a new round of consultations on a possible response to measures in the Inflation Reduction Act that favor U.S. suppliers. The government is considering responding in kind with measures that could restrict the new Canadian tax credits to domestic suppliers.

Mostafa Askari, chief economist with the Institute for Fiscal Studies and Democracy, said it’s still unclear how the “magnitude” of Canada’s plan compares to the U.S. “It’s very hard to tell,” he said. “But my take on this was this was something they had to do.”

US woman left AirPods on plane; tracked at airport worker’s home

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: A woman in the US has tracked down her lost Apple AirPods to an airport worker’s home two weeks after she left them on a plane, a media report said.

Earlier this month, Alisabeth Hayden, who lives in Washington state, was on her way back from a trip to Tokyo to visit her husband in Seattle was separated from her AirPods during the layover from a plane in San Francisco, reports CNN.

At San Francisco International Airport, she realised she had left her jacket behind, with the AirPods in its pocket.

Hayden inquired about retrieving it, but a flight attendant informed her that only a crew member could do so.

The attendant did indeed bring the jacket to her — and she boarded her next flight to Seattle, according to the report.

“A child was screaming next to me, and I thought at least I have my AirPods,’” Hayden was quoted as saying.

She then reached for her jacket pocket and found that the pocket was open and the Airpods were not there.

Hayden utilised in-flight Wi-Fi to monitor the earphones using the “Find My” app, which tracks Apple devices, after the plane had already taken off to Seattle.

She then realised that the AirPods were moving.

“I’m a diligent person, and I tracked the whole way from San Francisco to Seattle, taking screenshots the entire time. I live an hour from Seattle, and once I got home, I was still taking screenshots,” Hayden said.

The headphones ultimately stopped moving at an address in the Bay Area in the US.

Hayden marked her headphones as “lost” on her app, pinging an alert and her number to the person who had them.

Moreover, the report said that she enlisted the help of a detective at the San Mateo police force who was working at San Francisco Airport.

The detective traced the address from where the AirPods were pinging to an airport contractor who was loading food onto planes.

When questioned by authorities, the airport worker stated that the headphones were given to him by a cleaner, who denied knowing anything about the scenario, the report mentioned.

When the AirPods were returned to Hayden 12 days later, she remarked they looked trodden on.

She stated that after complaining about the condition of the headphones, United Airlines (which she was flying) handed her $271 and 5,000 air miles.

United Airlines verified that the employee was hired by a vendor rather than the airline.

  • SDH Uri Left With Only 3 Ambulances, All 4 in Medical Block, As 7 Ambulances Scrapped Last Month

    [ad_1]

    Zaffer Iqbal

Uri, Mar 14 (GNS): Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is left with only three ambulances, even as the whole medical block total four vehicles, after seven ambulances were scrapped by the authorities last month.

A health official at SDH Uri told GNS that they are facing huge difficulties in managing the things, particularly with regard to referral of patients as there is an acute dearth of ambulances in the medical block. “There are only three ambulances available at SDH Uri and one ambulance at NTPHC Kamalkote Uri”, he said adding all in all there is a total of four ambulances available in the whole Medical block – Uri.

He said the ambulances of PHC Mohura, NTPHC Garkote, NTPHC Nambla and NTPHC Isham and 3 of SDH Uri were condemned last month and all these ambulances were sent back to the department.

He further said Medical Block Uri consists of almost 40 health centers and these centres are located in far off villages of Uri. “In emergency cases when an ambulance goes from SDH Uri to bring patients from different health centers or villages and if a patient needs to be shifted for further treatment, he is shifted from Uri but the patients too are suffering due to shortage of ambulances”, he said.

He said that even as Block Medical Officer (BMO) has intimated the issue to higher ups, there is nothing being done regarding the matter as of now.

Meanwhile a delegation of locals told GNS that Uri town is one of the far-off hamlets of Kashmir and Sub-division Uri which spans over 100 plus villages and majority of the population are living in tough terrain due to hilly area with nearly 40 villages of the Uri located on Line of Control.

They said if the government has introduced many schemes regarding better medical facilities, then why is a remote area(s) like Uri being neglected. “We frequently witness road accidents and wild animal attacks, so in such a scenario availability of prompt ambulance services becomes altogether important”, they said.

Meanwhile the higher-ups did not respond to any calls despite repeated attempts made by GNS. (GNS)

  • Left, Cong leaders to raise Tripura post-poll violence in Parliament

Left, Cong leaders to raise Tripura post-poll violence in Parliament

    [ad_1]

Agartala: Taking a serious note of the clashes and violence in the aftermath of the elections in BJP-ruled Tripura, a Left-Congress delegation on Saturday said it will raise the issue in Parliament to bring the matter to the knowledge of all countrymen.

Members of the delegation, who had come under an attack of miscreants in Nehalchandranagar on Friday, during its tour of violence-hit areas, also said that senior leaders of the Left and the Congress will meet President Droupadi Murmu to apprise her of the “terror tactics unleashed by the BJP and RSS” in states ruled by the saffron camp.

Three people have so far been arrested in connection with Friday’s incident in Nehalchandranagar area of Sepahijala district.

Addressing a press conference, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Elmaram Kareem claimed that the “BJP-RSS- backed goons have not just mounted attacks on the people of the state but also destroyed means of their livelihood”, as many of them were forced to flee homes.

“The police are not taking action against the troublemakers, allowing them to roam about free for more vandalism in the northeastern state. It appears that law and order has completely collapsed in Tripura and the government has miserably failed to maintain peace,” he told reporters here.

Kareem, who arrived here along with seven MPs and senior leaders to take stock of the situation in Tripura, said that “the fact-finding delegation had called on Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya and briefed him about the prevailing condition” in the state, where elections were held on February 16 and the result declared on March 2.

The governor gave the delegation assurance that he would look into the matter and do the needful, the CPI(M) leader stated.
“We will raise this issue of post-election violence in the both houses of Parliament to draw the attention of the country. People outside the state are not aware about the very serious situation here,” he added.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ajay Kumar, who was also present at the press meet, claimed that the BJP has installed “Talibani raj” in Tripura.

Expressing concern over the attack on the MP delegation, Kumar said that the state had long been witnessing incidents of violence but “no measure has been taken to restore peace and order”.

“Neither the prime minister nor the home minister has made any statement on the attack on MP delegation in Tripura. It is an insult to Parliament,” he said.

CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said over 1,000 incidents of post-poll violence have been reported in the state

“Youth bearing affiliation to opposition camps had to leave homes and run for their lives in the wake of the unabated attacks. We want the government to be sympathetic towards those affected in the midst of post-poll violence,” he said.

Tripura Congress president Birajit Sinha claimed that a “civil war-like situation” may arise in the state, if nothing was done immediately to stop the miscreants.

Among others, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharjee was present at the meet.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee alleged that a “deep-rooted conspiracy” was behind the attack on the delegation.

“The Left and the Congress are simply trying to defame the BJP at the national stage. Chief Minister Manik Saha, who is in Delhi, has already spoken to the DGP and instructed him to take stern legal action on those involved in the attack. Senior party leaders have also discussed the matter with local functionaries,” said Bhattcharjee.

The BJP-IPFT government recently returned to power in the state for the second consecutive term, with the saffron party bagging 32 seats in the 60-member assembly and the regional outfit securing one constituency.

  • Opinion | I Helped Write the Jan. 6 Committee Report. Here’s What Tucker Carlson Left Out.

Opinion | I Helped Write the Jan. 6 Committee Report. Here’s What Tucker Carlson Left Out.

    [ad_1]

I served as a senior professional staff member on the January 6th Select Committee and helped write its final report. I got a close look at some of the video evidence that Carlson obtained — and his manipulation of the audience was immediately obvious to me. Here’s why.

First, the premise of his “investigation,” that the USCP footage was being withheld to cover up the full story, was always false. Working with the Select Committee’s members, the investigative team and staffers reviewed the USCP’s recordings, which provided new angles at some key locations. But it did not change our basic understanding of what transpired. How could it? The riot is one of the most widely covered events in history. There is no dearth of footage from that day.

In addition to the USCP’s surveillance video, the Select Committee reviewed footage recorded by cameras worn by Metropolitan Police Department officers, the work of documentary filmmakers and countless open-source videos, including clips recorded by the rioters themselves. Many Americans have already seen some of this footage with their own eyes. They know the mob was not at the Capitol primarily for sightseeing, as Carlson claimed.

On Monday night, the Fox News host showed just several minutes of cherry-picked footage. Cameras inside the Capitol and on its grounds recorded many more scenes that he did not play for viewers. Some of this footage has long been available online. For example, you can watch rioters ramming their way through USCP officers at the Senate Wing door, members of the mob smashing the ornate East Rotunda doors before other rioters open them from the inside, and the melee at the west plaza tunnel (at the two-hour, 14-minute mark). You can also view a timeline of events used by federal prosecutors, who relied on the USCP’s camera footage. Carlson’s team had access to this footage, and more, but chose not to show any of it to Fox News viewers Monday night. It’s easy to see why. The full USCP cache tells a very different story from the one Carlson wants people to see.

There is another fundamental problem with Carlson’s presentation that may not be so easy for the casual viewer to spot. He has repeatedly whitewashed the key role played by far-right extremists, namely, the Proud Boys. Their story, including how then-President Donald Trump inspired them, is told in Chapters 6 and 8 of the January 6th Select Committee’s final report. The Proud Boys and other extremists led the mob, but Carlson refuses to let his viewers know it.

Let us compare one of Carlson’s conspiracy theories to the well-established facts. For more than two years, Carlson has chased a bogeyman, arguing that provocateurs working for the federal government (or, alternatively, agitators on the left) somehow tricked Trump’s “patriots” into rioting. He still cannot identify any federal agents working for the so-called “deep state.” Carlson and others have focused on a lone individual who has not been charged, Ray Epps, insinuating that he was a secret FBI plant. This claim is baseless. They’ve produced no evidence connecting Epps, a Trump supporter, to the FBI or any other federal agency.

Meanwhile, Carlson has ignored nearly all of the evidence collected against the approximately 1,000 January 6th defendants who have been charged. That evidence reveals the real parties responsible for channeling the mob’s anger.

In fact, one of the most important January 6th trials is currently ongoing in a Washington, D.C., courtroom. Five members of the Proud Boys, including the group’s chair, Enrique Tarrio, have been charged with seditious conspiracy and other serious crimes. The Department of Justice claims the Proud Boys “conspired to prevent, hinder and delay the certification of the Electoral College vote, and to oppose by force the authority of the government of the United States.” Moreover, on Jan. 6, 2021, the Proud Boys “directed, mobilized and led members of the crowd onto the Capitol grounds and into the Capitol, leading to dismantling of metal barricades, destruction of property, breaching of the Capitol building, and assaults on law enforcement.”

The DOJ’s allegations are consistent with the Select Committee’s findings, as well as the investigative work done by real reporters. Law enforcement officials have collected overwhelming evidence, including text messages and videos, showing how the Proud Boys conspired against America’s democracy. They discovered that Tarrio told his men to “storm the Capitol” in the days leading up to the joint session of Congress.

While the attack was underway, Tarrio also claimed responsibility, messaging his men: “Make no mistake…” and “We did this.” Then, on the night of Jan. 6, Tarrio posted a video on the conservative social media site Parler that he titled, “Premonition.” The video shows a masked man, dressed as a super villain, standing in front of the Capitol. The figure is presumably Tarrio himself and the clip, recorded prior to Jan. 6, implies that he had foreknowledge of that day’s events.

You can watch “Premonition” here. It’s the type of spooky scene, set to foreboding background music, that makes for good television. Carlson did not show it to his viewers. In fact, he did not mention the Proud Boys at all.

The Select Committee’s review of video footage from multiple sources, including the U.S. Capitol Police, showed that the Proud Boys were conspicuously present on the front lines and at key breach points throughout the attack. Prosecutors are currently relying on the same type of footage, as well as additional sources of video, to make their case to a jury.

For example, Proud Boy leaders Joe Biggs and Ethan Nordean riled up the crowd at the Peace Circle Monument just outside of the U.S. Capitol. The Select Committee showed how the Proud Boys marched from the Washington Monument, around the Capitol, and then instigated the first perimeter breach at this key location. By attacking the police officers stationed between the monument and the Capitol, sweeping away security fences in the process, the Proud Boys and their associates opened a clear path onto the Capitol’s grounds. Thousands of Trump’s supporters marched down Pennsylvania Avenue and through the Peace Circle after leaving the president’s rally at the White House Ellipse.

Dominic Pezzola, another Proud Boy, was responsible for the first breach of the U.S. Capitol building itself. Pezzola smashed in a Senate Wing window with a stolen riot shield. This allowed the mob to swarm into the Capitol through both the window and a nearby door. Pezzola bragged about his actions in a video he recorded of himself inside the Capitol. While smoking a victory cigar, Pezzola said: “I knew we could take this motherfucker over if we just tried hard enough. Proud of your motherfuckin’ boy.”

During his presentation Monday night, Carlson focused on Jacob Chansley, a.k.a. the QAnon Shaman, pretending that he is the central figure in the January 6th story. Carlson claimed that we still don’t know how he entered the building. That’s not true — even the footage shown by Carlson makes it clear that Chansley entered through the Senate Wing door next to the window Pezzola bashed in.

There is much more evidence against the Proud Boys. Some members of the group have already pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy and other charges, admitting that their comrades planned to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s victory. And the Proud Boys were not the only far right extremists involved. Members of two anti-government groups, the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters, attacked the Capitol as well. Some Oath Keepers have pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy, while juries convicted the group’s leader and other members of the same crime. White nationalists were also among the extremists who stormed the Capitol.

The Fox News audience did not hear any of this. Nor did they hear how Trump summoned these extremists to Washington, D.C., for Jan. 6 via his tweets and statements. This part of the story is explained at great length in the Select Committee’s final report.

Tucker Carlson wants people to believe that phantom government agents were responsible. No one who relies on facts and logic will be fooled.

Twitter breaks for millions as only 1 engineer left handling crucial APIs

    [ad_1]

Delhi: Twitter went down for millions as users reported several issues with the platform — from links not opening to images stopped loading and more — as there was only one person handling the platform’s application programming interface (API).

When users clicked on links, they were greeted with a mysterious error message reporting that “your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint”.

Images stopped loading as well and some users said that they could not access TweetDeck.

About 85 per cent users had trouble with the web version of Twitter while 13 per cent had issues with the mobile platform

In a tweet, the company said that “some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now”.

The company’s support account tweeted, “We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences.”

The change in question was part of a project to shut down free access to the Twitter API, according to Platformer.

Last month, Twitter announced it will no longer support free access to its API.

It ended the existence of third-party clients and drastically limited the ability of outside researchers to study the network.

The change had cascading consequences inside the company, bringing down much of Twitter’s internal tools along with the public-facing APIs, reports The Verge.

Musk tweeted on Tuesday: “A small API change had massive ramifications”.

“The code stack is extremely brittle for no good reason. Will ultimately need a complete rewrite,” he posted.

There have been at least six high-profile Twitter outages this year, as Musk has fired thousands of employees, including those handling APIs and codes.

  • Reform promoted by the left to weaken the electoral body generates indignation in Mexico

    [ad_1]

Hundreds of thousands of Mexicans took to the streets of the capital, Mexico City, and other cities this Sunday (26) to protest against a reform promoted by leftist President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (known as AMLO) that jeopardizes the functioning of the body that holds elections in the country.

Last week, the Mexican Legislature approved an electoral reform that, under the justification of cutting costs, will reduce the budget of the National Electoral Institute (INE), which would mean eliminating 85% of its career cadres and 300 district boards from the organ.

The law will also generate other damages to the autonomous body, such as limiting the monitoring of electoral propaganda on radio and television and the powers of INE to sanction public officials who express support for candidates.

The mayor of Mexico City informed the newspaper El Universo that around 90,000 people participated in the protest in the capital, but leaders of the National Action Party (PAN, opposition) estimated the presence of more than 500,000 demonstrators.

Ramón Cossío, former minister of the Mexican Supreme Court, said he hopes the court will respond positively to the actions that have been filed to challenge AMLO’s electoral reform. “We trust them
[juízes]in their democratic spirit, in the decision they will take to preserve the democratic life of the country”, he said, during Sunday’s demonstration.

After the protests, AMLO mocked the demonstrators. “They have to mobilize even more people, they have to increase their mobilization capacity”, declared the president, a historical opponent of INE – in 2006, he alleged fraud in the presidential election in which he was defeated by Felipe Calderón.

“They fill the Zócalo [principal praça da Cidade do México]well, yes, but to get the change we fill [a praça] 60 times, and we didn’t just fill it up, we overflowed it [a capacidade do local]”, he claimed, citing demonstrations of support for the government.

The opposition repudiated AMLO’s comments. “No more divisions! López Obrador’s systematic attack against millions of people who defend democracy, freedoms and the INE reveals his authoritarianism, his intention to impose his vision as the only truth and his contempt for human rights”, said Marko Cortés, leader of the PAN.

The fear of critics of the law, called Electoral Plan B because an initial proposal to affect the INE had been rejected by the Mexican Parliament last year, is that it will end independence and fairness in carrying out and monitoring electoral processes in Mexico.

The country had a long history of fraud in elections until the creation of the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) in 1990, which six years later disassociated itself from the Executive Branch. Afterwards, the agency became INE, which also took care of local elections and not just federal ones.

On Twitter, Ambassador Brian Nichols, Deputy Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US State Department, expressed concern about the changes proposed by AMLO and approved by the Mexican Legislature.

“In Mexico, today we see a great debate about electoral reforms that test the independence of electoral and judicial institutions. The United States supports independent electoral institutions that have the resources to strengthen democratic processes and the rule of law,” said Nichols.

  • A new Russian attack left two dead and five others injured in Ukraine

A new Russian attack left two dead and five others injured in Ukraine

    [ad_1]

The town of Khmelnytsky suffered Russian attacks with drones, which left a couple of dead and five injured, as reported by the mayor of the Ukrainian town. This is when the United Nations is once again putting Russian war crimes on the front lines on the table. While Moscow insisted on the assessment of the Chinese peace plan, which must be “analyzed in detail.”

The fighting intensified again in Ukraine on Monday, February 27. The focus of the invading Russian troops continues to be the capture of Bakhmut, a strategic location for their objectives as it is the ‘gateway’ to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, the two most important cities that Ukraine has in the Donetsk region.

In this direction, in the last hours there were two deaths and five injuries by Russian drones in Khmelnytskyi, according to the mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn through his Telegram account.

Initially, the information that had circulated was about the death of only one man who worked as a rescue worker. However, as the minutes passed, the number increased to two after the confirmation of the highest local authority.

“Unfortunately we have another death in the hospital. The doctors could not save the life of another hero: a rescuer,” the president said on his social networks.

However, they were not the only Russian attacks. The Ukrainian armed forces announced the downing of 11 of a total of 14 Iranian-made kamikaze drones launched by Moscow overnight.

Nine of them were shot down over kyiv, without causing casualties or material damage. The head of the city’s Military Administration, Sergiy Popko, accused the Russian forces of trying to “exhaust” the air defenses and detailed that the attacks were in two separate waves.

In the country’s capital, nighttime anti-aircraft alarms were active for five and a half hours.

Two other drone attacks were registered in the city of Zaporizhia, where they did manage to hit infrastructure, although the damage is still being estimated.

During the night hours, air alerts were also activated in Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Donetsk and in the Dnipro and Kirovohrad provinces.

Finally, the Russian Defense Ministry asserted that an attack on an ammunition depot near Bakhmut was carried out successfully, also shooting down four US-made HIMARS missiles and five drones.

United Nations debates war crimes in Ukraine

With a strong speech, the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, opened the session of the Human Rights Council, a summit that will focus its main attention on Ukraine and the alleged war crimes committed by Russia during its ‘special operation’.

Guterres stressed that the international community must protect human rights and that not doing so is not an option. “Some governments undermine it, others use the wrecking ball,” he said.

In this sense, he stressed that during the war in Eastern Europe “the most massive violations of human rights” that exist in the world today have been unleashed. “It has unleashed death, destruction and widespread displacement,” she added.

The summit, which will take place in Geneva until April 4, will be the event in which different countries will insist on expanding the mandate of a United Nations investigative body created to investigate acts committed in Ukraine.

This entity, according to kyiv, will be essential to ensure that Russia’s political and military leaders are held accountable. Previously they had also insisted on the formation of a special court to carry out trials.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, stressed that any initiative of this nature that seeks a point of dialogue between the parties must be considered. “We are paying close attention to the plan of our Chinese friends,” he said.

These moves have been taken by Russia as an attempt to isolate them from the world. In this regard, Russian diplomatic leader Sergei Lavrov stressed that such efforts by the West “failed.”

“I want to stress that we have not only frustrated the West’s plans to isolate and even dismember Russia, but also ensure continued cooperation with the overwhelming majority of members of the international community,” he said.
