BRS leader urges buffaloes not to go near Vande Bharat Express, mocks PM

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: BRS leader Y Sathish Reddy on Saturday put out pictures with buffaloes ‘urging’ them not to go near the Vande Bharat Express track in Secunderabad as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating the Secunderabad-Tirupati train.

The BRS leader’s mockery follows several incidents across the country where the Vande Bharat Express was hit by buffaloes passing across the railway track.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Hyderabad today, where he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore in Telangana. During his two-hour visit, he will also address a public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

As per the itinerary, Modi will reach Begumpet Airport at 11.30 a.m. and then head to Secunderabad Railway Station to flag off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express. The new train is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities by almost three and a half hours and will be particularly beneficial for pilgrims.

After the flag-off ceremony, the Prime Minister will attend a public meeting at Parade Grounds, where he will lay the foundation stone for new blocks at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bibinagar. He will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, which is being taken up at a cost of Rs 720 crore. The revamped station will have world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic building. It will feature a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities in one place, as well as multimodal connectivity for seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes of transport.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will flag off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, providing commuters with a fast, convenient, and comfortable travel option. He will also dedicate to the nation the doubling and electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar project, stretching over 85 km, completed at a cost of nearly Rs 1,410 crore. The project will provide seamless connectivity and assist in enhancing the average speed of trains.

During the program, he will also lay the foundation stone for five National Highway projects worth more than Rs 7,850 crore. These road projects will strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

After spending an hour at the public function at Parade Ground, the Prime Minister will leave for Chennai from Begumpet Airport at 1.20 p.m.

`Badly’ dressed girls look like Shurpanakha, says BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya

Indore: Girls in “bad dresses” look like `Shurpanakha’ of the Ramayana, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has said.

A video of his remarks, made at a religious function organised here on the occasion of Hanuman and Mahavir Jayanti on Thursday, went viral on social media.

“When I leave for home at night, I see educated young people and children under the influence of drugs….I feel like getting down (from the car) and slapping them five to seven times to sober them up,” the BJP leader said.

“We see goddess in women. But (with) the kind of bad dresses the girls wear and move around, they do not embody goddess but look like Shurpanakha. God has given you good and beautiful body…..dress well, friends,” he said.

In the popular version of the Ramayana, Shurpanakha is the sister of the demon king Ravana.

Communal clashes on Ram Navami in West Bengal ‘state sponsored’: BJP leader

    [ad_1]

Indore: Communal clashes during Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal were “sponsored” by the Trinamool Congress government in the state, alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Thursday.

He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of giving “provocative statements” against the central government on the day of the Hindu festival last week.

Violence and arson were witnessed during the Ram Navami festival in Howrah and Hooghly, sparking a fresh war of words between the ruling TMC and the Opposition BJP.

    MS Education Academy

Vijayvargiya, talking to reporters after attending a local party meeting at the BJP office in Indore, alleged the communal violence on Ram Navami in West Bengal was “sponsored” by the state government.

He claimed Banerjee gave “provocative statements” during a sit-in and this vitiated the atmosphere.

“Banerjee is holding a responsible post of chief minister. I think she should refrain from making such irresponsible statements,” Vijaywargiya remarked.

The BJP leader, who was earlier in-charge of West Bengal, maintained Banerjee herself wants communal tension in her state so that she can take political advantage out of it.

The TMC, on the other hand, has claimed BJP leaders “fomented trouble” during Ram Navami.

The former Madhya Pradesh minister alleged the West Bengal government gives “security” to those who create disturbance during processions taken out on the occasion of Ram Navami or Hanuman Jayanti.

Responding to a question, Vijayvargiya said the “Modi effect” (the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is leading to a transformation of the Congress party.

“Earlier, if Congress leaders used to appear at any religious event, it was only at ‘iftar’ parties (organised during the holy month of Ramadan). But now their leaders have started wearing janeu (sacred thread), going to temples and reciting Hanuman Chalisa. This means the Modi effect is not only visible on the country, but also on the Congress,” he remarked.

The BJP general secretary said former Congress president Rahul Gandhi did not apologise for his alleged anti-India remarks made in London because he is “feudal-minded” and has no faith in democracy, Parliament and judiciary.

He said these days the people of Pakistan, facing one of its worst economic crises since its creation in 1947, can be heard saying on news channels that Mohammad Ali Jinnah was wrong in demanding partition of the country.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is progressing well and the country’s reputation is getting enhanced in the world. On the other hand, Pakistan has joined the ranks of the poorest countries in the world. In such a situation, the people there (Pakistan) have started feeling that we should get merged with India,” said the BJP leader.

  • Blunt talk: Former GOP leader makes next move

Blunt talk: Former GOP leader makes next move

    [ad_1]

    senate republicans 44871

A former member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Blunt has retained his security clearance and is also working on projects with Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines that he declined to elaborate on — describing it only as a “couple of things she and I have talked about that I’m going to be helping her with.”

Blunt’s departure from the Hill punctuates a noticeable gap in the GOP’s institutional knowledge since the November midterms. The group of recently retired GOP senators ranges from leadership stalwarts like Rob Portman of Ohio, Richard Burr of North Carolina and Blunt to Donald Trump critics like Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Ben Sasse of Nebraska to the old-bull appropriator Richard Shelby of Alabama.

They are all taking diverse paths: Portman is a public policy fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, Burr joined lobbying firm DLA Piper and Sasse now leads the University of Florida. Blunt said that he “wouldn’t anticipate that I would ever register as a lobbyist, but others certainly working with us will.”

The Show-Me State Republican added that he hasn’t fully decided whether to exert ongoing influence within the Republican Party now that he has more political freedom. Blunt, whose steady persona contrasts with Trump’s bombastic presence, clearly tired of talking about the former president during his time in Congress — though he also stuck by Trump in 2016 and voted to acquit him during two impeachment trials.

Blunt said he doesn’t expect to endorse in the 2024 presidential race and insisted Trump isn’t on a glide path to the nomination next year: “It would be my view that nobody is a prohibitive favorite.”

He said his party can better compete with Democrats by concentrating on a forward-looking agenda, a view that’s out of step with Trump’s grievance-fueled campaign.

“I do think that people are really eager to talk about the importance of getting things done, as opposed to just how angry everybody is,” Blunt said.

He said he doesn’t anticipate “being incredibly involved in political activity” after leaving the Senate, preferring instead to dispense the advice he’s doled out behind the scenes since his first victory in the 1984 race for Missouri secretary of state. Were it not for a close loss to John Boehner in a 2006 leadership race, Blunt might eventually have ascended to the House’s top gavel.

After losing that contest, Blunt ran for Senate in 2010 and ascended to the No. 4 leadership post. He developed strong ties in both parties during his time in office, serving as a close adviser to McConnell while bonding with Democrats like Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.

Blunt was replaced last fall by Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), who has already endorsed Trump.

“It’s hard to tell so far,” Blunt said of how the delegation anchored by Schmitt and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is performing in a slowly moving Congress. “I’m glad to give advice if asked. And glad to let them do the job they were elected to do without advice as well.”

A genial and dependable legislator, Blunt continued deal-cutting all the way down the stretch, helping clinch last year’s Electoral Count Act reform bill and supporting several other bipartisan measures. He will work closely with two longtime top aides within his own group at Husch Blackwell, including former chief of staff Stacy McBride and former deputy chief of staff Richard Eddings.

Still, he does not wish he was serving a third Senate term.

“I loved it right up to the last day … there is a time for all things,” said Blunt, who as a legislator focused on everything from mental health treatment to cybersecurity.

And yet he’s not above providing a little bit of his famous free advice for McConnell and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on how to rejuvenate the Senate during the current era of divided government: Stop the big catch-all, end-of-year legislating and start moving smaller bills.

“We’ve had too many Congresses now,” Blunt said, “where almost everything boils down to what happens at the very end.”

  • BSP leader demands President’s intervention in TSPSC paper leak case

BSP leader demands President’s intervention in TSPSC paper leak case

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Telangana President R.S. Praveen Kumar has written to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking her intervention to replace Chairman and members of Telangana State Public Service commission (TSPSC) which has been rocked by a question paper leak.

Praveen Kumar, a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has also requested the her to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the question paper leak scandal.

He argued that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state government is not at all competent to investigate such a serious scandal. Not much can be expected from the SIT which reports to the Chief Minister whose office itself is under the cloud of suspicion, he wrote.

    MS Education Academy

The press briefing by the Chief Minister’s son K.T. Rama Rao on behalf of the TSPSC and SIT is further adding strength to the suspicion that SIT is formed by the government only to save the actual perpetrators who are holding high offices from prosecution and punish only the small fry and give the case unceremonious burial, he alleged. This is precisely the reason why the BSP is requesting for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has a proven track record of successfully investigating such scandals in the country since independence, he added.

He also wrote that the future of lakhs of job aspirants is at stake now with the ongoing scandalous paper leakage/selling of the prestigious Group-I, AEE, AE and 15 other examinations notified by the TSPSC in the last several years.

“It’s a matter of shame on the part of the TSPSC which is constituted under Article 315 of the Constitution to indulge in such illegal and criminal activities with active collusion of the ruling party,” he said.

The entire affairs of TSPSC exams ended up as a scandal of gigantic proportions, where most of the question papers with master answer keys were leaked to the insiders and their relatives working in the commission for several years. This spine-chilling episode has compromised the integrity of the selection process and caused immense harm to the aspirations of millions of job seekers, reads the letter.

Stating that the TSPSC, which is the prime accused in this scandal, is going ahead with recruitment schedules at the behest of the government, he demanded that TSPSC Chairman and members be replaced with most competent and reputed persons.

“An independent inquiry by the CBI is not only crucial but also urgent, because there is very chance that critical evidence that can nail prime accused may either be destroyed or the lives of suspects who have been arrested so far will be endangered as they hold the crucial secrets of the unholy nexus among the ruling party, the CMO and the commission,” Praveen Kumar claimed.

He demanded that all recent TSPSC examinations be reconducted, all upcoming ones be postponed until the Commission is completely overhauled, the recruitment process is thoroughly insulated from extraneous influences and all guilty are made to feel the full weight of law.

He also demanded that the entire functioning of the TSPSC may thoroughly be probed into by a sitting Supreme Court judge to avoid such serious embarrassment in future.

‘Sisodia is mastermind of Delhi excise policy scam’, says BJP leader

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the excise policy case and said that former deputy CM Manish Sisodia was the “mastermind of the alleged scam”.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Why did the court refuse to give relief to Manish Sisodia, the accused in the liquor scam? Manish Sisodia and company have received a bribe of Rs 100 crore and this has been verified through the court.”

“The court said that while reviewing the evidence presented, it can be said that Manish Sisodia is not honest but the mastermind of this corruption policy,” Poonawalla added.

On Friday, a Delhi court, while dismissing the bail plea of Sisodia in the excise policy case lodged by the CBI, said prima facie the AAP leader “is the architect of the criminal conspiracy in the matter”.

Special Judge M.K. Nagpal said Sisodia’s release may adversely impact the ongoing investigation and “seriously hamper” its progress.
