    Rains damage vital bridge in Langate, public movement restricted

    Handwara, Apr 20: The intermittent rainfall for the past few days has caused damage to the vital bridge in Lagate area of Handwara, prompting authorities to restrict the public movement as a precautionary measure.

    An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Daand Kadal – a bridge over nallah Mawer that connects more than 20 villages has been closed for the public movement as the bridge has developed a partial damage due to intermittent rainfall and increase in the water level of the nallah.

    “Though the extent of damages to the bridge is being assessed, however, people are being requested to refrain from crossing the bridge over the nallah,” officials said.

    Meanwhile, locals alleged that the concerned department didn’t pay heed to the worse ning condition of the bridge for the last four years.

    Despite repeated attempts, Tehsildar Langate couldn’t be contacted for the comments as he didn’t receive the phone calls—(KNO)

    Kupwara ,Mar 9 : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray today conducted surprise inspection of Primary Health Centre Unisoo of Langate.

    While scrutinizing the attendance roll, the DC found five employees absent and taking serious note of this casual attitude of the employees, he directed the CMO Kupwara to take strict action against them.

    Absent employees included a doctor, three pharmacists, and an FMPHW.

    Deputy Commisioner, also asked CMO Kupwara to conduct surprise visits at all the health institutions so that essential public services could be provided to people in an efficient manner.(GNS)

    Langate, March 02: In a major boost to NC boost in Langate constituency, the DDC Nutnosa Zahoor Ahmed and senior NC leader Haji Mohammad Munawar Khawaja presided together over maiden meeting of workers in Langate Kulangam after the delimitation.

    During the meeting, DDC Nutnosa and Haji Mohammad Munawar Khawaja said that outsiders won’t be allowed to take people of Langate for ride. No outsider will be allowed to interfere into the party affairs in Langate.

    The DDC Nutnosa and Haji Mohammad Munawar Khawaja came together to take lead of party in Langate constituency.

    On the occasion Munawar Khawaja said that the people want the local leadership to serve the sentiments of people. No outsider would be allowed to take people of Langate for free ride. People want local representatives to lead them, he said.

    DDC Nutnosa, also assured his assistance to make the party strong in Langate, he said we will work together to ensure NC gets opportunity to serve the of Langate.

    Besides other, several other senior leaders were present in the meeting including, Gh Rasool Malla, Ghulaam Hassan Malik, Nazir Ahmad Malik, Ghulaam Hassan Dar, Sharifudin Geelani, Fayaz Ahmad shah, Haji mohd Asharf Malik, Ab Rashid Bhat Shilhal, Master Nazir Ahmad khan and Mehboob Magray block president kandi.

  • Jal Shakti Department Employee Killed in Hit & Run Case in Udipora Langate

    Handwara, Feb 8: A government employee was killed in a hit and run case in Udipora village of Langate in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this evening, official sources said.

    They told GNS a 42-year-old Jal Shakti Department (previously PHE) employee identified as Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, son of Abdul Gaffar Shiekh resident of Bacherwara Handwara was fatally hit by a vehicle at Udipora Langate.

    The injured person, they said, was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

    Before the people could reach the spot, the vehicle driver fled the spot, they further said.

    SHO Kralgund confirming the death of the person told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard. “We have constituted a team to nab the culprit as soon as possible”, he said. (GNS)
