Kalaburgi: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and the makers of Pathaan landed in various controversies before the release of the movie. SRK returned on the big screen after a long gap of around four years. The movie is directed by Siddharth Anand. Various Hindu organisations and right-wing leaders were seeking a ban on the movie but it was finally released after receiving a green signal from CBFC.

According to the reports, few incidents of stone pelting were reported across the country. Some hate mongers also raised anti-SRK slogans during their protests. One such incident occurred in Kalaburgi, Karnataka, where a cinema hall was targeted by stone throwers who were protesting against the release of the film Pathaan. A video of the incident, shared by dwentertainment on Instagram, shows several people participating in the protest and throwing stones at the cinema. Check video below.

The Pathaan team did not even promote the film on reality shows or other events to avoid further controversies but still, trolls were targeting makers and SRK. Despite all controversies, the movie collected Rs 57 crore on the opening day and set various records. Fans praised the cast of Pathaan in general and SRK in particular after watching the movie. Tickets are selling fast and it seems that hatemongers who trolled SRK failed in stopping moviegoers from watching ‘Pathaan.’

The movie also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

  • By conferring Padma Vibhushan on Mulayam, govt has made mockery of his contributions: SP leader

By conferring Padma Vibhushan on Mulayam, govt has made mockery of his contributions: SP leader

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: By conferring the Padma Vibhushan on Mulayam Singh Yadav, the government has made a mockery of his stature and contributions to the country, Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya said on Thursday.

He and other party leaders demanded that the Samajwadi Party founder be conferred the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award.

Yadav was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second highest civilian honour, posthumously on Wednesday.

Reacting to the award, SP MLA Maurya tweeted in Hindi, “By giving Padma Vibhushan posthumously to Netaji Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Government of India has made a mockery of Netaji’s stature, work and contributions to the nation. If Netaji had to be respected then he should have been honoured with Bharat Ratna.”

Similar views were expressed by party spokesperson I P Singh.

“Except the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, no other honour befits the son of the soil, Late Mulayam Singh Yadav. An announcement should be made to give Bharat Ratna to our respected Netaji without any delay,” Singh tweeted.

Yadav, the Samajwadi Party founder and three-time Uttar Pradesh chief minister, died on October 10 last year.

  • Bihar: Police register case against protesters tearing ‘Pathaan’ posters in Bhagalpur

Bihar: Police register case against protesters tearing ‘Pathaan’ posters in Bhagalpur

    [ad_1]

Bhagalpur: Officials of Bihar Police on Thursday booked 25 persons, accused of agitating in front of a cinema hall against Pathaan movie in State’s Bhagalpur.

“Legal action is being taken against 10 people and 15 unknown people by registering a case in Jogsar police station on the charge of protesting against the film Pathan,” police said.

Earlier on Tuesday, some miscreants, believed to be from Hindu organisations, burnt and tear the Pathaan movie’s poster outside the Deepprabha cinema hall in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, a day before the movie’s release.

The youth of Hindu organizations tore the posters in the cinema hall and set it on fire, raising slogans of ‘Film Chalega Hall Jalega’.

“The youth said that Hindutva cannot be compromised. Any element that opposes the Sanatan culture will not be tolerated in Bhagalpur including the whole of India,” said the members of the Hindu organisation.

The members of the organisation added that if Pathan is shown in any theatres of Bhagalpur, it will be strongly opposed.

The manager Lalan Singh said that some anti-social elements have burnt the poster opposing the film.

He further added that an application has been given to the local police station and SP, and the administration has assured that security will be given.

Earlier on January 5, members of a Right-Wing organization created a ruckus at Alpha One Mall in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur during the promotion of the film. The organization’s members during their protest tore down pictures of Shah Rukh Khan as well as his co-stars.

The protesters also threatened the mall authority that if this film is released, then they will start an even fiercer protest.
The protesters were captured in a video damaging property of the mall. In a video shared by the VHP, protesters could be seen shouting slogans and tearing posters and large cut-outs of ‘Pathaan’s star cast.

The controversy started after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, aired his objections to one of the songs of the movie, released as ‘Besharam Rang’.

Mishra said, “The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. It is clearly visible that the song of the film ‘Pathaan’ has been shot with a dirty mindset.”

  • Secularism is the glue to keep country together: CPI(M) member Subhashini Ali

Secularism is the glue to keep country together: CPI(M) member Subhashini Ali

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: Secularism is absolutely essential to keep people together and the country moving, said CPI(M) member Subhashini Ali, setting the tone for the session Born in 1947′ at a literary meet in Kolkata.

Ali, daughter of INA commander Lakshmi Swaminathan, was joined by culinary historian Chitrita Banerjee and craft activist Laila Tyabji all born in the year India won its freedom as the three of them discussed the adversities and the challenges that have shaped the country and its people over the course of time.

The septuagenarians, while addressing a session at the Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet on Wednesday, also stressed the need for people to collaborate and cohabitate, despite the religious and caste-based differences, for the country to prosper and flourish.

“India has conflicting forces living in its society but the country can rise above that,” said Banerjee.

Recounting days of unrest during the Bangladesh Liberation War, she said that it was heartening to see people reaching out to those in need, keeping all judgments and opinions aside.

“The fact that young people are becoming bigoted individuals, holding on to their beliefs very ardently, and that, in turn, leading to conflict and hatred is very depressing, especially for people like us who grew up in a hopeful and idealistic atmosphere. But I believe all of these will be undone, and things will get better at some point,” she stated.

Ali stressed on the need to build a country where there are no inequalities.

“It is imperative to keep talking, keep conversations going, not in an echo chamber, but with people who don’t agree with us to understand their perspectives, too.

“Many of us are concerned about the situation in the country. But the point is what is it that we are doing to make things better?” she said.

People who are privileged in many ways need to reach out to others to tell them that how important the idea of secularism was to the great leaders of the country, Ali, a former MP, maintained.

“Secularism is not something these leaders adopted to get votes like we are told now. It is absolutely essential to keep India together and the country moving,” she insisted.

Adding to the narrative, Tyabji, too, said that there was no one way of looking at India, and people need to hear different points of view to be able to make up their minds.
