Hindenburg report: KTR goes after BJP, asks who was aiding Adani group

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: BRS working president and Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday went after the BJP-led Centre and said that there are serious questions that need to be answered by the ‘NPA’ govt on findings of the Hindenburg Report.

“There are serious questions that need to be answered by the NPA Govt on #HindenburgReport Why do LIC & SBI have such large exposure ₹77,000 Cr & ₹80,000 Crore to Adani group stocks? Who pushed them to do so? Who was aiding & abetting them in this entire episode?” he asked on Twitter.

Along with the Adani Group share pummelling on Friday, with the group losing Rs 3.37 lakh crore in aggregate market capitalisation in a single day, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), the single largest non-promoter domestic shareholder in five of the largest Adani Group companies by market capitalisation, lost Rs 16,627 crore due to a drop in the value of its Adani Group holdings.

Indeed, the value of LIC’s Adani Group assets fell from Rs 72,193 crore on Tuesday to Rs 55,565 crore on Friday, a 22% drop in only two days.

Meanwhile, LIC’s share price declined 3.5 percent during the day on Friday, falling 5.3 percent in the prior two days.

    What is the Hindenburg report?

Hindenburg Research, a well-known short seller in the United States, disclosed short positions in the Adani Group on Wednesday, accusing the conglomerate of the improperly wide use of businesses established in offshore tax havens and expressing worry about excessive debt levels.

The revelation, which comes just days before Adani Enterprises’ (ADEL.NS) $2.5 billion share sale, sent Adani group businesses’ shares tumbling.

It also said that seven Adani listed firms had an 85% downside on a fundamental basis because to what it dubbed ‘sky-high valuations’.

The firm published an investigative document titled ‘Adani Group: How The World’s 3rd Richest Man Is Pulling The Largest Con In Corporate History‘ and revealed findings of their two-year investigation presenting evidence that the Rs 17.8 trillion worth Adani group has engaged in a brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades.

According to the report, Gautam Adani, the Adani Group’s founder, and chairman, has a net worth of about $120 billion, which he has increased by more than $100 billion in the last three years, primarily as a result of stock price growth in the group’s seven most important publicly traded companies, which have increased by an average of 819 percent during that time.

KT Rama Rao had also challenged the central investigative agencies including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax Department (IT) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to probe into the Adani enterprise’s ‘scam’.

The challenge comes hours after US’s Hindenburg Research’s investigative document, alleging fraud in Adani Group’s dealings, surfaced.

KTR challenged the agencies to probe into the matter stating in a tweet “ED, CBI, IT & SEBI; Hain Dum probe Karne Ka👇??

KTR further went on to criticise mainstream and national media remarking on their ‘inefficiency’ to manifest such matters.

  • Women should give birth to child between 22 and 30 years of age: Assam CM

Women should give birth to child between 22 and 30 years of age: Assam CM

    [ad_1]

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that women should give birth to children before they attain 30 years of age. Sarma was speaking at a function at Sankardev Kalakhetra in Guwahati.

Addressing the women present at the function, he said, “We are trying to stop child marriage because if you give birth to children at a very young age, you would face problems. Similarly, if you do the same thing after reaching a higher age, like 30 or 35, there must be complications. Many people keep delaying these things, and it gives rise to problems.”

The Chief Minister also proposed an ‘ideal age’ for women to give birth between the ages of 22 and 30.

“Neither less nor more than that is a good age for giving birth to children because the human body has certain basic things. God has made our bodies like that. So I suggest that girls who have not married yet complete it at the earliest,” he added.

The Chief Minister’s comment has not gone down well with the netizens, as they have started to criticise him for such ‘weird’ suggestion.

Will India welcome Pakistani artists again? Here’s what IB Minister says

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: First Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival kick-started in Mumbai recently. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur lighted the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the 1st SCO Film Festival. Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, actress Hema Malini and other prominent personalities were present during the inaugural ceremony.

During the event, Anurag Thakur also spoke about the ban on Pakistani artists. He said that not only Pakistan but other nations were also invited to the film festival. He informed that Pakistan has refrained from participating in it. “Whenever a multinational tournament has happened we have included all those countries that are a part of the world. It’s their decision to attend or avoid it. We have sent the invitation to all the members of SCO,” he was quoted saying in the ETimes report.

“If I talk about the members it’s a long list. See we have sent the invitations from our side we have opened the gates for everyone,” he further added.

When asked about revoking the ban on Pakistani artists, the Minister said, “please, for now, let us keep it to the SCO festival only.”

It is clear that Pakistan was invited to participate in the festival only. The ban on artists has not been yet revoked. It is relevant to mention here that the latest Pakistani film ”The Legend of Maula Jatt’ starring Fawad Khan, Hamza Abbasi and Mahira Khan also remained in headlines last month as makers were planning to screen the film in India. The screening of the movie was later cancelled.

Various Pakistani artists like Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Mahira Khan and others have amassed a huge fan following in India. After the URI attack in 2016, Pakistani artists were banned from performing in India.

Hyderabad: TSRTC launches radio on its buses

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has now chosen to put ‘TSRTC Radio’ in every bus in its fleet in an effort to engage with and generate positive sentiment among passengers about its services.

Nine regular and metro buses in Hyderabad had the TSRTC radio fitted as a trial project following a large-scale test of it.

TSRTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, unveiled the unique radio service’s pilot project on Saturday at Bus Bhavan. Later, the highest RTC authorities evaluated the radio’s performance.

“In addition to providing entertainment through songs, the TSRTC radio will make people aware on the importance of human relations and talk about ethical issues that enhance moral values,” Sajjanar said.

Currently, buses travelling on the Uppal-Secunderabad, Dilsukhnagar-Secunderabad, Gachibowli-Mehidipatnam, Secunderabad-Patancheru, Kukatpally-Shankarpally, Kondapur-Secunderabad, Koti-Patancheru, and Ibrahimpatnam-JBS routes have the RTC radio installed.

The TSRTC radio’s mission is to entertain listeners, raise awareness of social concerns like women’s and children’s safety, and cyber and financial crimes, and keep listeners interested in its new programmes.

Sajjanar stated that the management will make the radio completely available in all buses after hearing feedback from passengers. QR tags have been installed on buses to collect passengers’ comments and feedback on the programme.

Depending on how customers react, the novel concept might be expanded to other important RTC bus lines in Hyderabad. TSRTC, Executive Director (Operations) PV Munishekhar, Kukatpally Depot Manager Ishaq Bin Mohammad, and other senior officials were present.
