Tillu Tajpuriya murder: ‘How were 4 knives found in prison?’ HC to jailers

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday questioned jail authorities over recovery of four knives from Tihar premises where gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was stabbed to death allegedly by inmates belonging to a rival gang.
The court asked why no preventive or remedial action was taken by authorities when the incident took place as the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in jail premises.
Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the Director General of Prisons (Delhi), Delhi government and Commissioner of Police on a petition filed by Tajpuriya’s father and brother seeking an investigation by the CBI into the “brutal murder” inside Tihar Jail premises on May 2.

The petitioners, represented through senior advocate Maninder Singh, said they are DTC drivers and sought adequate security for themselves.
The high court directed the Delhi Police to ensure safety and security of both the petitioners, who are father and brother of the deceased, and listed the matter for further hearing on May 25.
It directed the Tihar jail authorities to file an affidavit as to how four knives were found in prison and asked the jail superintendent concerned to be present in the court on the next date of hearing.
A CCTV video from Tihar Jail which emerged on social media purportedly showed Tajpuriya being attacked in front of security personnel and also when they were carrying him away after he was stabbed.
Tajpuriya was assaulted with improvised weapons allegedly by four members of the Gogi gang inside the high-security prison on May 2.

The accused attacked him for a second time when he was being carried away by security personnel, according to the footage.
In the footage, it appears that the security personnel are mute spectators while the assailants kept repeatedly attacking the gangster.
According to jail officials, seven personnel of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP), who were on duty at a Tihar prison cell when Tajpuriya was stabbed to death, have been suspended following the incident.

Hyderabad: Renowned gynaecologists Dr Zaibunnisa have filed a police complaint regarding the verbal and physical threats they have been facing from certain individuals after exercising their constitutional right of choosing a sector of Islam and renouncing the Mahdavia faith. The senior citizen has written a complaint letter to the Inspector of Police South East Zone, Hyderabad.
She has claimed that she has been facing extremely dirty verbal threats that violate her dignity as a woman and have caused mental trauma. The situation has now escalated to death threats being sent to them via WhatsApp audio.
She accuses Asrar Ahmed Khan of Chanchalguda, Hyderabad, the main mastermind behind the threats. She lives alone and has multiple health concerns, feels that they are in their last phase of life and it is unfortunate that they should undergo this kind of mental trauma and threats of death.

At least 1.7M people attend mass Istanbul rally: Turkish Prez

Ankara: With less than a week left for presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkiye, the country’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a mass rally in Istanbul on Sunday with at least 1.7 million people attending, Turkish News Agency Anadolu reported.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed the massive crowd of people at the Istanbul rally and recalled his government’s achievements over the last 21 years.
The Turkish leader said his government had tripled the national income over the past 21 years, News Agency Anadolu reported.

He criticized the Turkish opposition over their inimical rhetoric on homegrown drones and combat drones and pledged to further enhance the country’s defence industry, News Agency Anadolu reported.
On energy, Erdogan recalled the billions of dollars worth of natural gas and oil reserves discovered in the Black Sea and Turkiye’s southern Gabar area that have been put at the disposal of the Turkish nation.
Erdogan also said his government is implementing the “Great Istanbul Tunnel Project,” which he said “will be the third tube to run through beneath the Sea of Marmara.”
“We are preparing Istanbul for the Century of Turkiye, and Istanbul will be the locomotive for the rise of the Century of Turkiye,” he added.

The elections in Turkiye will take place on May 14. On the presidential ballot, voters will choose between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, seeking reelection, leading opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Muharrem Ince, and Sinan Ogan, News Agency Anadolu reported.
Meanwhile, 24 political parties and 151 independent candidates are vying for seats in the 600-member Turkish parliament.

Telangana: 45-yr-old strangled to death, face smashed near Warangal

Hyderabad: A 45-year-old daily wage earner was brutally killed on Saturday night at a village near the Warangal-Khammam highway.
However, her body was discovered by passersby on Sunday morning following which police were informed about the murder.
Jarupula Shouri, the victim is a daily wage laborer from Jaggu Naik Thanda situated on the outskirts of Nallabelly village, and used live to live with her son.

According to the police, the victim’s face was unrecognizable as it was smashed with boulders.
Police further assumed that the murderers may have strangulated her to death using a scarf while they initiated a probe after her son lodged a complaint.
The victim’s body was shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal for an autopsy.

Video: IAF fighter aircraft crashes into home in Rajasthan

Jaipur: Two civilians were killed after an Indian Air Force MiG-21 crashed on top of their house in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh on Monday morning, police said.
The pilot of the aircraft, however, ejected safely with minor injuries, the IAF said adding a military helicopter has reached the accident site for rescue operations.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Hanumangarh, Sudheer Chaudhary, the mishap took place in Bahlolnagar.

The police official said that the civilians-two women were killed and one man sustained injuries as the MiG crashed on top of their house.

The crashed aircraft had taken off from Suratgarh for a routine training sortie.
The Indian Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The MiG-21 fleet is on its last leg and all the remaining three aircraft from the fleet are planned to be poached out by 2025.
Earlier in January, one pilot lost his life after two IAF fighter jets – a Sukhoi-30 and a Mirage 2000 – crashed during a training exercise.

While one aircraft crashed in Morena in Madhya Pradesh, the other crashed and landed in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.

‘Jawan’ fame director Atlee confirms name of his baby boy after SRK revealed on Twitter

Mumbai: ‘Jawan’ director Atlee who was blessed with a baby boy this year, on Sunday, finally revealed the name, a day after SRK shared that he met the little munchkin.
Taking to Instagram, Atlee dropped a picture with his wife Priya and baby boy from their visit to the temple.
Sharing the picture, he wrote, “Yes the name is MEER. Very happy to be revealing our little angels name.”

As soon as the name was revealed, the director’s fans and industry friends chimed in the comment section.
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu wrote, “Congratulations darlings.”
Kajal Aggarwal commented, “Lots of love to all three of you!!! Big hugs to baby Meer.”
On Saturday, during the #AskSRK session on Twitter, when one of the fans asked about a specialty of Atlee that he enjoyed the most, the King Khan responded, “”@Atlee_dir is very dedicated and smart. Also now he has such a lovely baby Meer and Priya feeds me very good food. #Jawan.”
After being in a relationship for years, Atlee and Priya tied the knot in 2014. And the duo welcomed their baby boy on January 31, 2013.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Atlee shared a couple of pictures and announced ‘it’s a boy’. He wrote in the caption, “They were right. There’s no feeling in the world like this. And just like that our baby boy is here! A new exciting adventure of parenthood starts today! Grateful. Happy. Blessed.”
South director Atlee is known for films like ‘Raja Rani’, ‘Their’, ‘Mersal’, ‘Bigil’.
‘Jawan’ has put the spotlight on him as Shah Rukh will be acting in the movie.
The film was earlier slated to hit the theatres on June 2 this year but the makers have now decided to shift the official release date.
The actual reason for the postponement of the film is still not known.
The film is billed as an event film with high-octane action sequences. Shah Rukh’s production company Red Chillies Entertainment has produced it.
In June 2022, SRK unveiled the film’s teaser which opened with a glimpse of the Northern Lights over mountain tops. We saw Shah Rukh with his face in the dark, wrapping bandages on his face as the film’s theme music played in the background.
The film also stars South actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles.

Hyderabad girl among nine killed in Texas mall shooting

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old girl from Hyderabad, identified as Aishwarya, lost her life along with eight other people in the Texas mall shooting that took place on May 6, 2023.
She was the daughter of Additional District Judge Tatikonda Narsireddy, who is currently working at the Ranga Reddy District Commercial Courts complex. The incident occurred when Aishwarya was shopping with her friends at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Texas.

In the shooting, the gunman opened fire at the crowded mall, killing at least eight people before being shot dead by a police officer. The shooting started around 3:30 pm on Saturday, causing shoppers to panic and flee the area. Videos captured shoppers exiting the mall as employees scrambled into storage areas to hide when they heard gunshots.

Witnesses reported some people sheltered in place for up to two hours while law enforcement cleared the sprawling complex.
Governor Greg Abbott called the shooting an “unspeakable tragedy” and stated that the state was ready to offer any assistance to local authorities.
The White House announced that President Biden had been briefed on the shooting and offered support to local officials.

This tragic incident is not an isolated case in the United States, as there have been at least 198 mass shootings in 2023, according to the gun violence archive. It is a growing concern that requires immediate action to be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
