Hyderabad gears up for ‘Zero Shadow Day’ today – Know what it is

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The residents of Hyderabad are getting ready to witness a unique astronomical phenomenon known as ‘Zero Shadow Day’ on May 9, 2023. This event can be observed in the city at 12:12 pm and will continue for a brief period.

‘Zero Shadow Day’ is a rare celestial event that occurs when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky. At this moment, the vertical objects will cast no shadows on the ground.

How to witness ‘Zero Shadow Day’ event

To witness ‘Zero Shadow Day’ in Hyderabad, one must find an open space directly under the Sun without any obstructions such as tall buildings or trees. The phenomenon can be observed at around noon when the Sun is at its peak.

‘Zero Shadow Day’ occurs twice a year, once in the northern hemisphere and another in the southern hemisphere. The event is equally important for both astronomers and photographers. Astronomers use this opportunity to study the Sun’s movements, while photographers use it to capture stunning images.

Hyderabad residents are fascinated by celestial events

Many residents of Hyderabad are fascinated by celestial events including ‘Zero Shadow Day’. Whenever such events occur, such as solar eclipses or lunar eclipses, they make time to experience them.

Recently, Hyderabad witnessed a penumbral lunar eclipse. This event occurs when the Moon passes only into the Earth’s penumbra. During a penumbral lunar eclipse, the Moon enters the outer part of Earth’s shadow, resulting in a subtle darkening of the Moon’s surface.

  • Priyanka Gandhi’s declaration to Telangana youths ‘fake’: BJP

Priyanka Gandhi’s declaration to Telangana youths ‘fake’: BJP

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader NV Subhash on Monday said that Priyanka Gandhi’s announcements in the ‘Youth Declaration’ in Telangana are yet to be implemented in the Congress-ruled states and dubbed them as “fake” assurances ahead of the state assembly polls later this year.

This comes after Priyanka Gandhi, who visited Telangana and addressed a gathering at Saroornagar grounds in Hyderabad on Monday, unveiled a five-point ‘Youth Declaration’ of the Congress party aiming to allure the youths ahead of the State Assembly elections.

The five points Priyanka mentioned include One government job to the kin of those who died for Telangana, a Rs 25,000 pension to their families, filling up of around 2 lakh vacant jobs in government, Rs 4,000 of monthly allowance to all those unemployed, more skill development centres, universities, and clearance of fee reimbursement arrears, and free EV scooters to girls in education.

    MS Education Academy

Responding to the announcements, the BJP spokesperson and the grandson of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao said, “All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had visited here and then gave so many declarations, especially the Youth Declaration. The Telangana BJP feels that it is a fake declaration, which cannot be implemented.”

He alleged that schemes, akin to these have not even been fulfilled in the Congress-ruled States like Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

“When the elections took place in Rajasthan, many unemployed youths were looking for Priyanka Gandhi because she gave same kind of youth declaration.

But as the elections got over and the party rose to power, but the jobs were not given,” he told ANI.
“Many enraged people, especially the youths from Rajasthan, wanted to meet Priyanka Gandhi, but she refused to meet them because the declaration she gave was fake,” the BJP leader added.

Subhash claimed that the same thing will happen in Telangana.
“The declaration is only to deceive the people, especially the youth, as Congress is not coming to power in the southern states of Telangana and Karnataka,” he said.

The BJP leader said that the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress are in the same boat as in the upcoming elections, the BJP will come to power.

“The people who get elected in the Congress party ticket are switching loyalties to the BRS. The same thing will happen in the future also. So just to curtail and control the BJP’s growing popularity in Telangana, she has come and is indirectly supporting the BRS party,” he added.

  • Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Junior Panchayat Secretaries in Telangana are determined to continue their strike for the regularisation of their services despite the state government’s warning that their services will be terminated if they fail to join duty on Tuesday.

In a notice served to the Junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPSs), Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that they formed a union in violation of their agreement bond and went on strike.

The official said that as per the agreement, JPSs should not join any service union or organisation or association. The employees also declared that they would not have any claim or right to be appointed on a regular basis.

    MS Education Academy

“The regularisation of service of any contract employee cannot be for all, but will be subject to the assessment and evaluation of their performance by a committee appointed by the government and those whose performance is found to be satisfactory can only be regularised,” Sandeep Sultania said.

Stating that JPSs went on strike illegally, Sultania said they lost all rights to continue in the services.

“As a last opportunity, you are directed to join duty by 5 p.m. of Tuesday. If you fail to join duty by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, your services will be terminated,” he added.

However, the JPSs, who are on strike since April 28, said they would continue the strike till the government gives a categorical assurance to them.

There are about 9,500 Junior Panchayat Secretaries in the state. They were recruited through Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on three-year probation and the probation period was further extended by one year.

They are demanding that the state government fulfill the assurance given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the state Assembly that their services will be regularised.

“We want job security. We are not against the government. Our demands are justified,” said a striking JPS.

“Even if the government regularizes our services there will be no financial burden on it. We are receiving Rs 29,000 salary as consolidated pay and after deductions like EPF we will get 26,000,” said another striking employee.

The strike by JPSs is having an adverse impact on various services in villages, causing hardships to people. They play a crucial role in village sanitation, drinking water supply, greenery work, in addition to issuing important certificates such as birth, death, marriage, and residence.
