BJP leaders up in arms at former JD-U MLC’s ‘Karbala’ remarks

    [ad_1]

Patna: In wake of the “Karbala” remarks made by former JD-U MLC Gulam Rasool Balyawi, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, terming him responsible for insulting the Hindu community.

“Due to the support of Nitish Kumar, his ministers and leaders are abusing and insulting the people of Hindu community. He is a helpless Chief Minister of Bihar. They cannot test our tolerance level. The people of the Hindu community are not wearing bangles,” he said while visiting Muzaffarpur district.

“One of Nitish Kumar’s cabinet ministers made remarks against the ‘Ram Charit Manas’ and other leaders are threatening to make cities of the country like Karbala. Bihar is going under the worst phase under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar,” he added.

BJP Rajya Sabha member and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said: “Nitish Kumar should take cognisance of statements on ‘Ram Charit Manas’ and Karbala. JD-U and RJD are competing with each other to spread resentment in the country. The Chief Minister has lost control over the leaders who are making objectionable remarks.” said Sushil Kumar Modi, Rajya Sabha MP of BJP.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Samrat Chaudhary said: “I don’t know what is the religion of that leader and I am not interested in knowing him but I must say that we will not allow any city to become Karbala in the country. It is not possible until BJP is here. BJP believes in respecting every caste and religion and we cannot make statements one-sided. We have strong objections over the statement of the JD-U leader and we demand action against him.”

Even the RJD leaders are criticizing the statement of Balyawi.

Party spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari said: “The statement of the JD-U leader was not right. The JD-U is a part of Mahagathbandhan and it is capable of taking action against him. The RJD respects every caste and religion.”

Balyawi, during a rally in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh on Thursday, targeted sacked BJP leader Nupur Sharma, over her controversial comments over the Prophet, saying that if anyone belittled him, “we will make cities of the country like Karbala”.

Earlier, Bihar Education Minister Chandra Shekhar Yadav, of the RJD, had termed ‘Ram Charit Manas’ as one of the books that spread hatred in the society.

  • Flats vs plots in Hyderabad: Around 54 pc prefer new, ready-to-move houses

Flats vs plots in Hyderabad: Around 54 pc prefer new, ready-to-move houses

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: People always face a dilemma while choosing between buying flats and purchasing plots in Hyderabad. As both options have their own pros and cons, opting for one is based on personal preferences.

A survey conducted by India’s first proptech unicorn NoBroker found that around 54 percent of home buyers prefer new, ready-to-move houses in Hyderabad. It also found that Manikonda, Kukatpally, Ameerpet, Hafeezpet, and Banjara Hills are witnessing a rise in demand.

As per the survey, the micro-markets that are performing worst in 2023 include Nizampet, Attapur, Financial District, Meerpet, and Miyapur. These real estate markets show a dip in the interest shown by the buyers in Hyderabad.

Pros and cons of flats and plots in Hyderabad

To understand the pros and cons of flats and plots in Hyderabad, it is necessary to analyze the options based on certain parameters.

Flexibility: Plots give a lot of flexibility when compared to flats.

Plots allow persons to build their dream house as per their preferences and taste. In the case of flats, there is no complete freedom in deciding the structure of the house.

Appreciation rate: The returns are higher in the case of open plots. Due to the fact that there is limited supply of land, plots appreciate faster than apartments.

Apart from it, as flats are prone to deteriorate over time, their values are also likely to decrease.

Financial assistance: As Loan-to-Value (LTV) for plots is less when compared to flats in Hyderabad, arranging funds for open plots is little difficult.

On the hand, financial assistance are easily available for purchasing flats.

Income: If someone is looking for rental income, then flats will be a better option as in the case of plots, income will not be generated immediately.

Rental real estate market in Hyderabad

The survey also revealed the trend in the rental real estate market in Hyderabad. It found that some of the localities are witnessing a rise in demand as people prefer to reside there due to various reasons.

As per the survey, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Kondapura, Manikonda, and Madhapur are witnessing high demand.

  • Indian-American Nikki Haley hints at exploring 2024 US presidential run

Indian-American Nikki Haley hints at exploring 2024 US presidential run

    [ad_1]

Washington: Indian-American Republican leader Nikki Haley has said that she feels she could be the “new leader” to take the country in a new direction and that Joe Biden may not get a second term as US President, reported Fox News.

The former South Carolina governor and US ambassador to the United Nations said she plans to run for the presidency in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.

“Well, when you’re looking at a run for president, you look at two things. You first look at, ‘does the current situation push for new?’ The second question is, ‘am I that person that could be that new leader?’ You know, on the first question, you can look all across the board, domestic, and foreign policy. You can look at, you know, inflation going up, the economy shrinking, government getting bigger, you know, small business owners not being able to pay their rent. Big businesses getting these bailouts, all of these things warrant that, yes, we need to go in a new direction,” said Haley.

“So do I think I could be that leader? Yes, But we are still working through things and we’ll figure it out. I’ve never lost a race. I said that then I still say that now. I’m not going to lose now,” she added.

Haley, 51, then listed her accomplishments in her career, saying that as governor, she took on a state that was hurting and made it “the beast of the Southeast.” Then, she said, as ambassador to the United Nations, she “took on the world when they tried to disrespect us.”

Haley served as ambassador to the UN under President Donald Trump for the first two years of his presidency, from 2017 through 2018.

If she launches a presidential bid, Haley will face her former boss in the GOP primary. Trump, the only president impeached twice, announced a third presidential campaign in November.

Haley, who resigned from the Trump administration in October 2018, said she had done a great job as governor and ambassador.

Haley, the second Indian-origin governor of Louisiana after fellow Republican Bobby Jindal, said it was time for new leadership in the Republican Party. During the interview, Haley also emphasized that President Biden, a Democrat, should not be given a second term. The next US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024.

Before serving in the federal government, Haley was the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017. She had previously served as a member of the state House of Representatives.

Hyderabad: 3 persons suspected to be trapped inside building where fire broke out

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Three people are suspected to have got trapped inside the ill-fated commercial building at Secunderabad here where a major fire broke out, police said on Friday.

Personnel involved in the rescue and relief operation could not go inside the building on Friday as it faced the possibility of collapsing with its slab breaking up, official sources said.

Authorities used drone cameras to locate the three persons, who were workers in the building, and efforts were on to trace them.

An official said experts have analysed the structural stability of the building and a decision would be taken on its demolition after they submit a report.

Police personnel have been deployed to prevent people from entering the scene of accident as experts stated that the building is in a bad condition following the blaze, a police release said.

As a precautionary measure, the residents of houses in the vicinity of the building have been asked not to stay in their homes. Many of them left for their relatives’ places, while some have been provided temporary shelter.

Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, Lok Sabha member from Secunderabad, visited the residents of the locality on Thursday.

He said a survey of warehouses and godowns which are located in residential localities in Hyderabad should be conducted and further action taken.

Meanwhile, Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (Urban Development) said a meeting a would be held with senior officials on fire safety on January 23.

“Having a meeting on Jan 23 with @GHMCOnline, addl DG Fire services and Prl secy Home on fire safety, fire audit and statutory compliances required to be complied with depending upon the nature of trade/storage & shall be insisted upon henceforth,” he tweeted.

A major fire broke out in the five-storey commercial building on Thursday and authorities evacuated residents of the adjoining buildings following the blaze which was brought under control after a seven-hour long operation.

A blanket of thick black smoke engulfed the area for several hours.

No one was injured in the incident, and unconfirmed reports on Thursday said two persons were trapped in the building.

Officials, on Thursday itself, ruled out the possibility of survival if anyone was stuck inside the building in view of severe heat and smoke.

  • US dollar, UK pound, Saudi riyal, Dirham, Aus dollar to INR exchange rates

US dollar, UK pound, Saudi riyal, Dirham, Aus dollar to INR exchange rates

    [ad_1]

The exchange rates of the US dollar, UK pound, Saudi riyal, UAE’s Dirham, Australian dollar, and other currencies to Indian rupees depend on demand and supply.

Following are the exchange rates as on January 21, 2023.

    Foreign currenciesINR values (Change)
    US dollar80.98 (-0.26)
    UK pound100.32 (+0.12)
    Saudi riyal21.57 (-0.06)
    Dirham22.05 (-0.07)
    Australian dollar56.38 (-0.06)

    Factors that affect exchange rates

Following are some of the factors that affect exchange rates

    1. Inflation
    2. Interest rates
    3. Flow of capital
    4. Liquidity
    5. Current Account Deficits

Inflation: It is an important factor in the exchange rate calculation. As higher the inflation, the lower the currency value, rupee depreciates with the rise in inflation. Rupee appreciates in case of a fall in inflation.

Interest rate: As global investors who look for fixed income will always get attracted to countries that offer higher interest rates, it contributes to the appreciation/depreciation of the Indian rupee.

Flow of capital: As the inflow of capital will result in a rise in demand for the rupee value, it appreciates the rupee. The opposite happens when there is a rise in the outflow of capital.

Liquidity: It is the money supply in the market. With the rise in the money supply, the rupee loses its value and it results in the depreciation of the currency. If the money supply in the market decreases, the rupee appreciates.

Current Account Deficits: It represents that a country is importing goods valued more that the goods it is exporting. This imbalance results in a fall in the value of the currency.

CAD depreciates the currency whereas, Current Account Surplus appreciates the currency.

  • Praja Sangrama Yatra: Bandi Sanjay likely to cover 17 LS constituencies

Praja Sangrama Yatra: Bandi Sanjay likely to cover 17 LS constituencies

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: After successfully completing five phases of his ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’, which started in August last year across 57 assembly constituencies, the BJP’s Telangana president Bandi Sanjay is all set to embark on another round of the yatra.

The latest leg of the yatra will be covered in a bus, in line with an idea floated by central leaders.

“We are in the process of finalising the schedule. However, as of now, the plan is to cover 17 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies in a space of 35-40 days. We will propose that this phase of yatra to gets underway by the end of February,” a party source said.

During the yatra, cenrtral leaders will join the BJP state chief at every Lok Sabha constituency that he covers.

Several Union ministers have been put in charge of various constituencies and assigned clusters as the party prepares for the year-end Assembly polls. Union Ministers, including Pralhad Joshi, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Jyotiraditya Scindia, BL Verma and Devu Sinh Chauhan, have been assigned several responsibilities in Telangana.

Another plan around the yatra is also being discussed. “If the padayatra rolls out for another phase, the state president will cover 11 Assembly constituencies from Kodangal to Nizamabad.” another source told ANI.

PM Narendra Modi had heaped praise on the party Telangana state president at the recently concluded two-day National Executive meeting.

PM Modi had said Bandi’s fighting spirit could be compared to that of stalwarts like Telegu legend NTR.

Bandi, who embarked on his Praja Sangrama Yatra in August 2021, has walked 1,393 kilometres in 120 days. The fifth phase of the yatra has covered 57 Assembly seats. Sanjay has held 112 public meetings, 72 gram sabhas and 90 cohort meetings so far.

Over the course of his Praja Sangrama Yatra, Sanjay has taken the attack to K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Telangana government and has highlighted the BJP’s core agenda.

Bandi launched a tirade against the Telangana government, calling it a dynastic regime that has put the interest of the people and the state’s development on the back burner.
