India promotes racism by being the bright spot in the global economy: Economic Experts

    [ad_1]

Critic of Govt economic policies, former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan on Saturday called Indian Govt economic policies discriminatory. Raghuram Rajan’s statement came after International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that India will be a bright spot in global economy in 2023.

Lauding India’s strong macroeconomic fundamentals, IMF said that India is in a better position to deal with the global headwinds. However, economists in India called it a bad sign as India is promoting racism by being bright spot and not dark spot. Economists said that India’s economic policies are against the Black Lives Matter movement.

Earlier, economic expert had said that India will be cornered if it doesn’t get hit by recession like rest of the world. Read here.

Reportedly, India is likely to incorporate some points in the upcoming Budget 2023 to avoid being a bright spot. The Fauxy sources suggest that the government is likely to do away with the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme and would rather donate Rs 72,000 to every Indian to ensure India is hit by recession.

  • IndiGo emergency door opening case: Won’t glorify Cong’s criticism, says Tejasvi Surya

IndiGo emergency door opening case: Won’t glorify Cong’s criticism, says Tejasvi Surya

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Reacting for the first time on the aircraft’s emergency door opening incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya on Saturday said a clarification on the matter has already been provided, and he will “not further glorify the criticism of the Congress”.

While the airline — IndiGo, did not name the passenger, some passengers travelling on the same flight had claimed that it was Tejasvi Surya. The BJP leader, however, had maintained a silence on the issue.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday after flagging off Namo Charity Run in Bengaluru, Surya said the airlines and the DGCA have given clarification regarding the incident.

“The Union Minister for Civil Aviation has explained that it was an incident that took place accidentally. K. Annamalai, the Tamil Nadu BJP president who was travelling with me also explained what exactly happened. Two other passengers have also given clarification over the incident,” he said.

“I don’t want to react in the backdrop of criticism from the Congress party or someone asking something, and glorify their criticism,” MP Tejasvi Surya claimed.

A controversy had broken out recently after IndiGo Airlines had released a statement that a passenger had opened the emergency door of its Chennai-Tiruchirapalli flight on December 10, 2022 leading to a two hour delay in the flight departure.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed on Wednesday (January 18) that the door was opened last month “by mistake”, and the person who opened it has apologised.

IndiGo had said on Tuesday that a passenger accidentally opened the emergency exit of a plane at the Chennai airport on December 10. The passenger had apologised, said the airlines.

While the airline did not name the passenger, few opposition parties have reacted on the matter, claiming that the person responsible for the act is Tejasvi Surya.

Without naming Surya, the Civil Aviation Minister on Wednesday confirmed that the passenger who by mistake opened the emergency exit, leading to a two hour delay of the flight, has apologised for his act.

“I won’t respond to what the opposition is saying. It’s important to look at the facts. The door was opened by him by mistake when the flight was on the ground and after all checks, the flight was allowed to take off,” Scindia said.

  • Telangana: Revanth announces Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra from February 6

Telangana: Revanth announces Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra from February 6

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Revanth Reddy announced that the statewide Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra will start on February 6.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday he said the yatra will last for 60 days, starting from Bhadrachalam or Mahbubnagar or Adilabad.

He said that the initial date was to start the yatra on January 26, the day when Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will come to an end. However, citing security issues, the date was postponed.

He also blamed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir to create obstacles for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

While the Union Budget is scheduled to be presented on February 1, the Assembly sessions on February 3 and the state budget on February 5, the Hath Se Hath Jodo yatra will commence on February 6, Revanth sad.

On January 26, the national flag along with the party flag will be unveiled in all villages, Mandals and district headquarters across the state.

“Observers will be appointed to coordinate the yatra. We will replace those who are not working responsibly and hand over the responsibilities to new ones. Action will also be taken against those who do not participate in the yatra,” Revanth remarked.

  • Karnataka: Guided by Deve Gowda, JD-S eyes prospect of playing kingmaker

Karnataka: Guided by Deve Gowda, JD-S eyes prospect of playing kingmaker

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: As the national parties — BJP and Congress — are ruling out JD-S as a competitor in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls, 89-year-old former Prime Minister and JD-S supremo H.D. Deve Gowda has declared that “he will bring his party to power no matter what”.

Former Chief Minister and Deve Gowda’s son H.D. Kumaraswamy has even claimed that both the national parties will have to come to his doorsteps after the elections.

The JD-S, once a force to reckon with in the state, is now confined to south Karnataka. The Vokkaliga vote bank, from which it derives power, is likely to divide, as after 20 years, state Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, who hails from Vokkaliga community, has a good chance of becoming the Chief Minister.

The ruling BJP in the state is trying to persuade the voters to its fold to achieve a majority in the Assembly elections. Though the BJP made it to power, the party has failed to get a simple majority in the state elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent programme in Mandya, considered as the power centre of Vokkaligas, was aimed at impressing upon the voters of the region.

The JD-S has launched “Pancharatna Yatra” to reach out to the people across all districts of the state. The Yatra is receiving good response from the crowd and political analysts say that it would be interesting to see whether these large crowds will get translated to votes during elections.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had paid a visit to Deve Gowda’s residence, while Kumaraswamy had also gone to Hyderabad to participate in events of Bharat Rastra Samithi (BRS). Insiders claim that both, JD-S and BRS, come to an understanding over the Assembly polls and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Reacting to Shah’s visit to Mandya and its outreach to the Vokkaliga community in south Karnataka, Kumaraswamy reiterated that Mandya is a strong fortress of the JD-S and his party will win all seven segments in the district. “There will be no impact (of Shah’s visit) whatsoever,” he stated.

Ruling BJP has installed a 108-foot-tall statue of Bengaluru founder Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda in the premises of the Bengaluru International Airport. Also, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has performed ground worship for the building of statues of Kempe Gowda and social reformer Basavanna in the premises of Vidhana Soudha (state Assembly) recently. However, Kumaraswamy had ridiculed the attempts, saying that the BJP cannot impress the people by building statues.

In December 2022, the JD-S has announced the first list of candidates for 93 assembly constituencies. Kumaraswamy stated that the leaders would get enough time to reach out to the people ahead of polls.

JD-S leader and spokesperson, Raju Gowda stated that Kumaraswamy’s Pancharatna Yatra is evoking “very good response and a new trend is being created in the state”.

Sources explain that when compared to national parties, the committees and digital publicity is lacking. The party insiders also say that the Pancharatna Yatra is turning out to be a one man show.

However, political analysts say that the JD-S has the ability to emerge like a dark horse and with its limitations, can also emerge as a king maker by winning about 30 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections.

  • Rahul Gandhi capable to be India’s PM: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut

Rahul Gandhi capable to be India’s PM: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut

    [ad_1]

Jammu: Shiv Sen (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra is capable to be the prime minister of India and no third front will be successful sans the grand old party.

He said the purpose of Gandhi’s Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir is to remove the hatred and fear and not to unite the opposition parties under the banner of his party.

“Ideological and political differences apart, he (Gandhi) will show his leadership qualities and will be a big challenge (for the ruling BJP in 2024 general elections). He will make a miracle,” the Member of Parliament told reporters here.

Raut, who walked for nearly 13-km alongside Gandhi between Hatli Morh and Chandwal amid rain on Friday, said the BJP has spread a wrong notion about the Congress leader but this Yatra has busted all their myths about him.

“Why not?” he said when asked whether Gandhi is capable of becoming the prime minister of India.

“Not everyone can walk from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, covering a distance of over 3,500 kms. It needs a lot of determination and love for the country. He has shown his concern for the country and I do not see any politics in this Yatra,” the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader said.

However, he said Gandhi himself has been saying that he is not willing to be the prime minister but “when people want to see him on the top post, he will be left with no choice”.

Rejecting the idea of a third front without the Congress, Raut said the grand old party has a lot of weight and has presence in every nook and corner of the country. “No third front can be successful without Congress, this time it has a low number of MPs but the situation is going to change in 2024. Without the Congress, no front can be successful is a reality and this needs to be taken into account.”

“The main purpose of my visit to J and K was to join the Gandhi-led Yatra at the direction of my leader and I had a good experience walking alongside Gandhi. It is not a political Yatra,” he said.

Raut, who reached here on January 19 and also visited protesting Kashmiri Pandit and Dogra employees seeking relocation from Kashmir over the past six months following the targeted killings, said he was surprised to find out that J-K is faced with the same issues which were discussed by him over a decade ago.

“Governments changed and so the politics but whether it is an issue of Kashmiri Pandits, refugees, law and order situation, security concerns of the people and terrorism, the questions are still same,” he said, slamming the BJP for its “failure to turn Kashmir back into paradise” over the past eight years.

He said four years have passed but there is no assembly election even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government promised large scale investment, creation of jobs for unemployed and return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

About the party’s strategy for the next assembly elections whenever held in J-K, Raut said his party is open to a grand alliance provided it gets a respectable place. “Otherwise, we will go for polls alone as J-K is full of public issues which have remained unresolved for years.”

He said the BJP under Modi is a big party but “If you see barring a few states, it is dependent on other parties or divided its own coalition partners to stay in power.”
