Telangana: 26 men acquitted in 2012 Saidabad communal violence case

Hyderabad: A local court acquitted 26 persons who were charged by the police for their alleged involvement in communal violence that rocked Saidabad and nearby localities in April 2012.
The Hyderabad police booked six cases against the alleged rioters. The incident at Saidabad began on April 8, 2012, when two groups of Hindus and Muslims clashed at Kurmaguda after ‘pieces of meat’ were found near a temple in Madannapet. It resulted in heavy stone-pelting and brick-batting which was followed by an incident of stabbing.
The police had clamped down curfew in two police station limits to control the violence then at Saidabad. Six Hindu men were arrested by the police for allegedly keeping the pieces of meat in the temple.
The arrested youngsters were identified as GHMC sanitation supervisor, Nagaraj of Maddannapet, flower decorator Kiran Kumar, hotel waiter Ramesh alias Chinna, car driver Dayand Singh of Kurmaguda, Srinivas alias Salman Srinu and liquor trader Niranjan.
The police had claimed that Srinu and Niranjan conspired at a restaurant on April 7 when they asked Nagaraj, Kiran Kumar, Ramesh and Dayanand Singh to throw pieces of cow legs and spray green-colour water on the wall of Sri Abhayanjaneya Swamy temple which divides two clusters of homes where two groups of people resided.
“Nagaraj, Kiran, Ramesh and Dayanad gathered at a wine shop at Champapet and discussed the preparation, and procurement of the materials to be used at the temple. After having consumed liquor, Nagaraju and Ramesh procured two pieces of cow legs and a paint bottle. They went to the temple and threw the cow legs on the temple wall and also sprayed the coloured water at the place,’’ police had claimed then.
After ten long years, the court proved the charges false and acquitted the six persons and 20 others who were arrested in other cases related to violence.
Karuna Sagar, who extended legal help and represented the acquitted persons said, “Today 26 Hindu youth were acquitted in six cases of 2012 Saidabad communal riots. Out of which one case was so malicious that six Hindu youth were implicated as conspirators behind temple desecration.”

He further tweeted that police officers behind the malicious case must be tried for defamation.

Certificate attestation woes end with Apostille System in Saudi Arabia

Jeddah: The cumbersome attestation procedure that annoys Indian expatriates abroad will cease soon. The existing process of attestation and legalisation of public documents is confusing, time-consuming, cumbersome and costly for most people.
In a significant development, Indians will experience a smooth and faster document authentication service in India for certificates bound for Saudi Arabia.
Soon, any legal document or certificate originated in India and duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will be accepted by Saudi Arabia without any further authentication requirements with the Apostille system. Other member countries of the Apostille Convention are also likely to follow suit.
“The accredited agents have received a circular from the Saudi Arabian consulate in Mumbai that informs that the Apostille system has been introduced in India and does require to be attested again by the consulate”, said a noted advocate notary Abdulaziz, a leading attestation agent in Hyderabad.
“We were waiting for further information in this regard,” he added.
Till now, certificates whether educational or legal documents needed to be attested by the General Administration Department (GAD) or any relevant department in its respective state.
In terms of educational certificates, it would then be sent to the ministry of human resources development in New Delhi and would be attested by the Indian ministry of external affairs.
After finishing this multi-layer verification, the document will be attested by the Saudi Arabian Embassy or Consulate in India only then would the local authorities in Saudi Arabia accept it.

The process is time-consuming and fresh job seekers and other people who need civil documents to be attested have to wait for long periods of time.
With the new procedure of Apostille, the certificate verified by issuing authorities and authorized by the ministry of external affairs is enough.
According to a report, as part of Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030 where digital transformation and ease of doing business the country has acceded to the Convention, Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, popularly known as the “Apostille Convention”, effective from December 7, 2022.
Specifically, in accordance with Royal Decree M/40 dated 26/05/1443H (corresponding to 30/12/2021G), the country’s prior legalization requirements for foreign-issued public documents have been eliminated. With this decree, Saudi Arabia becomes the 122nd member of the Apostille Convention, joining other Gulf countries Bahrain and Oman.
The Convention of 5 October 1961, “Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents” (HCCH 1961 Apostille Convention) facilitates the use of public documents abroad.
The purpose of the Convention is to abolish the traditional requirement of legalisation, replacing the often lengthy and costly legalisation process with the issuance of a single Apostille certificate by a competent authority in the place where the document originated.
The electronic Apostille Programme (e-APP) was launched in 2006 to support the electronic issuance and verification of Apostilles around the world.

Supporting Bageshwar Baba is supporting Hindu Rashtra; here’s why

“Tum mera saath do, main tumhe Hindu Rashtra doonga, (Give me your support, I will give you a Hindu nation)” remarked Dhirendra Krishna Shastri popularly known as Bageshwar Baba on January 23.
Shastri was speaking on the occasion of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s 126th birth anniversary. He invoked Bose’s popular pithy slogan, “Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe azaadi doonga (Give me blood (used to imply sacrifice), I will give you freedom) before asking for support for a Hindu Rashtra.
Dhirendra Krishna Shastri is a 26-year-old “godman” associated with the Bageshwar Dham temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur. He has time and again claimed that he can read minds and recently, landed in a soup for failing to do exactly that.
What is the current controversy surrounding Shastri?
Shashtri is alleged to have fled from a Ramkatha event in Nagpur after he was challenged to show his miracle. A Maharashtra based organisation, Andh Shraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (Committee for abolition of blind faith) dubbed him a fraud for promoting superstitions and challenged him to join their satsang (religious program).
Reportedly, Shastri has accepted the challenge put forth by activist Shyam Manav of Andha Shraddha Samithi and invited the social activist to visit his Raipur camp.
In a video which has garnered following, Shastri can be heard saying that he does not have any miraculous power. “I am just a servant at the feet of Bageshwar Balaji. I do as he inspires me,” he remarks.
Why is Dhirendra Shastri a cause of concern?
Despite the evident Islamophobia and unscientific nature of Shastri’s claims, the Hinglish spouting, fast talking Hindutva godman has garnered sufficient attention. In an interview with TV9 Bharatvarsh, many devotees of the “priest” are questioned about their visit to the temple and when asked all of them without a quiver pledged their allegiance to Bageshwar Baba. Chants of Jai Shree Ram emanated from the crowd at the very mention of the godman’s name.
Earlier, Shastri would only claim and perform miracles akin more to a magician than a servant of God. However, over the past few months, his statements have taken on a horrifying Hindutva slant.

Different media houses have attributed absurd powers to Shastri. While certain websites ran a story claiming that Bageshwar Baba has followers from Pakistan which is a credit to Sanatana Dharma, some others have time and again reported on how Shastri has time and again converted Muslims to the Hindu fold.
Ghar Wapsi
On January 20, Shastri, has said that as long as he lives he will strive for the “Ghar Wapsi” of converted Hindus. “Ghar Wapsi” is a misnomer used by the Hindu right to create a narrative in which they claim that Muslims and Christians living in India were originally Hindus and as such need to return (wapsi) to their home (ghar) religion of Hinduism.
“We’ve to focus on unity among Hindus and boycott those who speak against Sanatana Dharma,” said Shastri in Raipur where his is claiming to have been conducting ‘Divya Darbar’.
Earlier in January, Shastri addressing a Hindu gathering had said that if someone throws stones at a Hindu’s house house during a Ram Navami procession, the Hindus should take JCB to their house as India belongs to Sanatanis (followers of Sanatana Dharma). He also asked Hindus to pick up arms to protect their faith.
Political support for Bageshwar Baba
According to reports, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s net worth is Rs 19.5 crore and his daily income is more than Rs 8000. Aside from monetary power, he has gotten support from various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including Delhi MLA Kapil Mishra who recently remarked that Shastri is getting death threats for his “good work of promoting Sanatana Dharma.”

UP: Dalit student beaten in Shahjahanpur over garlanding of statue

Shahjahanpur: A Dalit college student was allegedly thrashed by a group of students a month after he stopped them from garlanding a bust of ‘Bharat Mata’ wearing shoes, police said on Wednesday.
According to the police complaint filed in the matter, the victim, Arjun Rana, had a month ago objected to a group garlanding a statue of Bharat Mata wearing shoes, and was beaten up for it on Monday.
“A Dalit student, Arjun Rana, was attacked by a group of students headed by two students Shahbaz Yadav and Suryansh Thakur. The incident took place on PG Ground on Monday,” Additional Superintendent of Police (city) Sanjay Kumar said.
A video of the incident has been doing rounds on social media since Tuesday.
“It has been alleged in the police complaint that Shahbaz and Suryansh were enraged after the incident and they along with 20 others attacked Rana on Monday when they found him alone in the ground,” said the officer.
Rana was rushed to hospital where he was administered first aid. His condition is stable, he added.

Saudi Arabia leads Arab countries for most tourists in 2022

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has recorded more than 18 million international arrivals in the first nine months of 2022, higher than any other Arab country.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization said, in a statement, that Saudi Arabia attracted more than 18 million visitors in the first three quarters of 2022, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 14.8 million tourists, and Morocco with 11 million tourists.
The statement said that, given these unprecedented numbers, “The thriving tourism sector in the Kingdom will be a major focus during the activities of the Arabian Travel Market 2023, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from May 1 to 4, 2023.”
As per media reports, the kingdom is targeting 100 million visitors annually by the end of this decade.
Tourism spending in Saudi Arabia also rose in 2022, reaching 7.2 billion dollars in the first half of 2022, according to figures issued by the country’s Ministry of Investment.
The ministry indicated that the rate of tourism spending in the Kingdom far exceeded pre-pandemic levels.
The Kingdom aims to attract investments worth 220 billion Saudi Riyals in the tourism sector by 2023, and 500 billion Saudi Riyals by 2030.

Andhra government committed to Dalit welfare: Adimulapu Suresh

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh minister for municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) Adimulapu Suresh said that the state government is committed to the upliftment of Dalits and the implementation of various welfare schemes to improve their living standards.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, he said that the state government’s commitment in this regard was proved by the extension of the SC and ST sub-plan for another ten years.
Rubbishing the comments published by a section of media, he said that yellow media is spreading false propaganda on the extension of the SC and ST sub-plan to protect the vested interests of TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and creating confusion among the castes.
He also recalled that it was the TDP chief who made derogatory comments like “Who would wish to be born in the SC community? What justice will he do for the Dalits?”, he asked.
“The YSRCP government is spending around 25 percent of funds for Dalits in every scheme,” he said.
Drawing a parallel between the previous TDP regime and the YSRCP, Suresh explained that TDP spent Rs 33,625 crore for SCs between 2014 to 2019.
“In the last three and a half years, the YSRCP has spent Rs 48,899 crore for SC welfare, which means Rs 15,274 crore (45.4 percent) was additionally spent,” remarked Suresh.
“For STs, TDP has spent Rs 12,487 crore during its five-year tenure, while YSRCP has spent Rs 15,589 crore (25 percent), which means Rs 3,101 crore additionally spent for ST’s welfare,” he said.

“The YSRCP government is ready to face any kind of auditing or scrutiny on the facts relating to the welfare of Dalits,” he said and rubbished the remarks of vernacular media of Rs 20,000 crore cut imposed by the government during its three-and-a-half years rule.
Reacting to Pawan Kalyan’s meeting on the sub-plan, he said, “Jana Sena Chief was acting according to the script given by Chandra Babu Naidu and should know the facts and figures before making further remarks.”

MP ‘Pathaan’ screening: Hindutva mob shouts Islamophobic slogans

In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, members of a Hindutva group protested in front of a theatre raising provocative slogans against Prophet Muhammed and Shah Rukh Khan’s movie ‘Pathaan’ which was released in India and worldwide on Wednesday.
Shouting slogans like, “Mohammed tere baap ka naam ‘JaiShriRam‘, Desh ke gaddaro ko.. goli maaro“, right-wing workers wearing saffron shawls made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
The news of the protest soon spread in the city irking many local Muslims who took to the streets opposing the right-wing protests.
“Every time, these people under the safety net provided by the state government make derogatory remarks on our Prophet. And no action is taken against them. We want the police to register an FKIR against these right-wing protestors. Till then we will do a sit-in peacefully,” a Muslim man told a police officer on camera.

Twitter has been bursting with hashtags such as #PathaanReview, #SRK, #RaniSaOfBollywood #BLOCKBUSTER. Many videos have emerged showing a houseful theatre with a jubilant audience dancing to the tunes of Jhoome Jo Pathan song.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked BJP workers to refrain from making “unnecessary” comments about films during the two-day national executive meet.
It came amid the recent protests against ‘Pathaan’, with several BJP leaders like Ram Kadam and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra criticizing the makers over Deepika Padukone’s saffron costume in the song ‘Besharam Rang’.

Telangana: Applications invited from BC students to study abroad

Hyderabad: Telangana government’s Backward Classes Welfare department has introduced ‘Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Overseas Vidya Nidhi’ financial assistance for BC (Backward caste) and EBC (Economically Backward Class) students.
BC and EBC graduates who wish to pursue their post-graduation abroad are eligible to avail of the assistance.
Candidates who fall below the age of 35 years as on July 1 this year and have a family income less than Rs 5 lakh per annum are eligible to apply.
A minimum of 60 percent marks or equivalent grade in graduation degree in Engineering /Management/ Pure Sciences/ Agriculture Sciences Medicine and Nursing /Social Sciences/ Humanities is mandated.
Only those candidates who have received COE I-20 and VISA shall apply to avoid unnecessary complications
More information and registration under the scheme guidelines are available online at the website.
The registration process will begin on February 1 and end on February 3.

Hyderabad: TSRTC bus pass counters to stay shut on Republic Day

Hyderabad: The TSRTC bus pass counters operating in the Greater Hyderabad zone will stay closed in view of Republic Day celebrations on Thursday.
The counters will however resume functioning the next day.
The executive director of TSRTC has directed the bus pass holders to reach out to the counters on Friday from 6:30 am to 8: 30 pm for their queries.

‘Biryani movie banaye,’ Hyderabadis react after watching SRK’s Pathaan

Hyderabad: After creating a lot of buzz, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan was released on Wednesday across the globe. The actor made his comeback after a long gap of around four years and fans seemed excited after watching him in the Siddhart Anand’s spy- thriller.
King Khan along with the makers of the movie landed in controversy after YRF dropped the Besharam Rang track on its official YouTube channel. Few politicians and Hindu organisations were seeking a ban on the release of the movie but it was finally released in three languages globally.
The Siasat.com team visited various cinema halls across Hyderabad on Wednesday to know the reactions of the moviegoers. In our survey on the opening day, we found that various cinephiles praised both the actors and director of the movie. We have found people waiting in long queues outside cinema halls at various places.
During our exclusive visit to Prasads Multiplex at Necklace Road, we found people shouting ”Pathaan Zindabad” and fans lauded the performance of all actors in general but Shah Rukh Khan in particular. The cameo of Salman Khan in the movie also entertained the moviegoers.
Talking to Siasat.com, one fan said, ”The movie is awesome and I would recommend everyone to watch this movie. SRK has nailed it. He looks younger day by day,” adding ”Salman bhai’s entry was mind blowing.”
Another fan said, ”King is always King and SRK has proved it. Total paisa wasool. I appreciate Badshah ( Shah Rukh Khan) for his energy and acting skill.”
”Movie is beyond expectations. No one can compare SRK’s acting with anyone. I also admire the director. The screenplay of the movie is awesome. I love SRK,” said one of the female fans of Shah Rukh Khan after watching the movie.
Around 80 per cent of the fans rated it 5 while some 20 per cent rated it 4.5 out of 5. Overal, it seems like SRK has left no stone unturned to spread his magic and create ripples among audience.

Fans also lauded John Abrahim’s role. One of the fans said, ”John is my Jaan. Though he has been portrayed as the villain in the movie, he has really nailed it. SRK and Deepika Padukone also nailed it,” she added.
So, overall most of the people gave positive reviews and even some expressed their will to watch the movie again. Relevant to mention here that, SRK and team Pathaan did not promote the film on any TV reality show or anywhere else. SRK just connected with his fans on Twitter during AskSRK or AskMeAything sessions before the movie release. Despite being in controversy, it seems that the film is going to be a blockbuster.
