    Kupwara, Mar 30: Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Yougal Manhas on Thursday said that police will soon crack the murder case of a 7-year-old girl and that the killer will also be behind the bars soon.

    Talking to reporters here, SSP Kupwara, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that throat slit body of the girl was found near her residence in Khurhama Zab area of Lolab and police have taken cognisance of the matter.

    He said police were investigating the matter and the killer will be arrested soon.

    He also urged the locals to cooperate with them in the investigation and share input, if any, with the police.

    SRINAGAR: A seven-year-old girl died after falling into a well in Kalaroos area of this north Kashmir district on Monday evening, officials said.

    Quoting officials, GNS reported that a girl namely Zaika daughter of Nisar Ahmad Lone, resident of Dal Kalaroos fell down in well. The girl was later found by the family and evacuated to NTPHC Kalaroos in an unconscious state, where the doctors declared her dead.

    Confirming it, a police official said that they are collecting necessary details regarding the incident

    Quoting officials,GNS reported that counter insurgent forces detected suspicious movement near Jabdi area of Tangdhar.

    During the searches, one Infiltrator was killed during firefight.

    SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah inaugurated Maa Sharda Devi Temple at Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir through video conferencing on Wednesday.

    Amit Shah began his address by wishing the countrymen for the New Year. He said that on the occasion of New Year, the newly constructed temple of Maa Sharda has been opened for the devotees and this is an auspicious sign for the devotees from all over India. He said that the inauguration of Maa Sharda’s temple is the beginning of a new era.

    The Union Home Minister said that the architecture and construction of this temple has been done according to mythological scriptures under the aegis of Sharda Peeth. The reconstruction of Maa Sharda’s temple in Kupwara is a necessary and important step in the direction of discovery of Sharda-civilization and promotion of Sharda-script.

    Maintaining that Sharda Peeth was considered the centre of knowledge in the Indian subcontinent, Amit Shah said that Sharda script is the original script of Kashmir, which has been named after the name of Maa Sharda. This is one of the Mahashakti Peeths and according to religious beliefs, the right hand of Maa Sati fell here.

    The Union Home Minister further said that Sharda Peeth has been a historical centre of India’s cultural, religious and educational heritage and like Kartarpur Corridor, Government under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will move forward to open Sharda Peeth for devotees.

    Shah said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi peace has been established in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370, the Kashmir Valley and Jammu are once again returning to their old traditions, civilization and Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.

    The systematic restoration and repair work is going on at 123 identified places under this, which include many temples and Sufi Places. He said that in the first phase, 35 places were being renovated at a cost of Rs 65 crore. He said that 31 mega cultural programs have also been organized by identifying the 75 places of religious and Sufi saints. Shah said that 20 cultural festivals have also been organized in every district which will help in reviving our old heritage.

    Amit Shah said that the zeal with which the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha has implemented all the flagship schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is worth praising. (KNS)

    He said no such incident has happened anywhere in the district, while damage to any property was being ascertained.

    Earlier, an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude shook Jammu and Kashmir and several parts of north India.

    A photograph of a wrecked building has been doing rounds within communities on social media platforms, claiming to be located in north Kashmir and hit by the earthquake Tuesday evening.

    Several claims have been attached with the photograph, including the death of three persons in Kupwara. Even more absurd, a police station. Or a regional politician’s residence.

    However, when the image was reverse searched by The Kashmir Walla, it was found to be a building from Turkey. It was clicked by Firat Ozdemir for Anadolu Agency.

    The country was hit by repeated fatal earthquakes in February this year that killed over 60,000 people.

    A Kupwara District Administration official confirmed to The Kashmir Walla that no casualties have been reported in Tuesday evening earthquake.

    Srinagar, Mar 11 (GNS): At least two boys were left wounded after bitten by stray dogs in Tekipora Lolab area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

    They told GNS that the duo namely Uzair Ahmad Khan (9), son of Abdul Gaffar Khan and Henan Ahmad son of Abdul Ahad Rather was bitten by stray dogs this morning.

    SRINAGAR: Amid forecast for mainly dry weather, the minimum temperature recorded a rise in Jammu and Kashmir barring Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Kupwara on Wednesday, officials said.

    Quoting an official of the meteorological department, GNS reported that Srinagar recorded a low of 3.5°C against 3.3°C on the previous night and it was 0.2°C above normal for the summer capital.

    Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 2.4°C against 2.0°C on the previous night and it was 0.2°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

    Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 1.7°C against minus 1.4°C on the previous night and it was 0.3°C below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Kokernag recorded a low of 4.1°C against 3.9°C on the previous night and it was 2.2°C above normal for the place, the officials said.

    Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.6°C against minus 0.8°C on the previous night and it was 1.9°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

    In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 0.2°C against 0.4°C on the previous night and it was 1.2°C above normal for the north Kashmir area.

    Jammu recorded a low of 14.6°C against 12.9°C on the previous night. It was 0.6°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.

    Banihal, he said, recorded a low of 4.7°C (above normal by 0.6°C), Batote 7.6°C (above normal by 1.7°C), Katra 11.8°C (0.3°C above normal) and Bhadarwah 4.1°C (1.0°C above normal). The MeT department has forecast dry weather to continue till March 12.
