    [ad_1]

Patna: Three days after passengers at the Patna railway station were surprised when the TV screens installed on the platforms reportedly played X-rated clip for almost three minutes instead of the usual advertisements, a team of General Railway Police (GRP) went to Kolkata from Patna on Wednesday to investigate the incident.

The team will quiz the officials of Dutta Communications, the company assigned to play advertisements and information on the television screens of the Patna railway station. The office and studio of Dutta Communications are located in Kolkata.

After the incident on Sunday, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Danapur division terminated the contract of Dutta Communication and placed it on the black list.

The railway authorities have registered two FIRs against the company officials under the IT Act in Patna.

The X-rated clip was telecast on dozens of LED screens on Platform No. 10 on March 19 for almost three minutes, leading to passengers waiting for trains facing an awkward and embarrassing situation.

  • Kolkata man held for murdering wife, burying body after cutting it into three pieces

Kolkata man held for murdering wife, burying body after cutting it into three pieces

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: A near replication of the murder of Shraddha Walker and disposal of her body in Delhi’s Mehrauli area last year surfaced on the outskirts of Kolkata on Wednesday evening, where a man was held for murdering his wife and burying her corpse near a waterbody after cutting it into three pieces.

The pieces of the body were recovered from Sarada Garden area under Bishnupur Police Station in the southern outskirts of Kolkata.

The accused Alim Sheikh has been taken into custody for the murder of his wife Mumtaz Sheikh and the body parts have been sent to a local hospital for autopsy purposes.

Local police sources said that on Tuesday night, Sheikh went on his motorcycle to pick up Mumtaz from her workplace. However, he returned alone and when asked by his family members, said that she had got down near a local market for shopping.

However, after she did not return till late hours, his family members started putting pressure on him to speak the truth. However, as he remained silent, his family members informed the local police station and in face of police pressure, Sheikh, on Wednesday morning, admitted his crime.

The police rushed to the spot along with Alim, who showed them the exact spot where he buried his wife’s body parts. Local police sources said that first he took her to an extremely secluded place and killed her there by strangulation. After that he cut her body into three pieces and buried the body parts under the mud adjacent to the waterbody.

The accused is yet to confide the reason behind taking such a ghastly step. However, according to information collected by the local police, in all probability an extra-marital affair issue was behind the macabre incident. The police are carrying out further investigation.

Opposition alliance: Mamata, Akhilesh likely to meet in Kolkata

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are likely to meet in Kolkata on Friday to discuss opposition unity for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Trinamool Congress sources said.

According to the sources, the two leaders, at the meeting at Banerjee’s residence at Kalighat in south Kolkata, are likely to discuss possibilities of having a grand opposition alliance against the BJP but without involving Congress in that initiative.

“Akhilesh Yadav will be attending a national working committee of his party at a hotel in Kolkata on Friday. After attending that meeting, he is likely to go to the Chief Minister’s residence at Kalighat at around 5 p.m. Before that on the same afternoon, the chief minister has convened a meeting of the core committee of her party at 3 p.m. which will also be attended by Trinamool Congress’s national General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee,” said a senior member of the West Bengal cabinet who refused to be named.

Last week, leaders of eight opposition parties, including Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining that the central agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate are specially targeting the opposition parties in the country in a biased manner. However, there was no signatory from Congress or the Left parties in that letter.

On Monday on the occasion of the last day of the extended budget session of the West Bengal Assembly, a motion was passed condemning the hyperactive role of the central agencies in West Bengal. Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay observed that if the central agencies decide to take any action against any member of the house, the office of the Speaker should be intimated first. However, when that motion was passed none of the opposition BJP legislators were present within the house.
