Delimitation in Telangana likely in 2031: Kishan Reddy

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: There is no immediate proposal to increase the number of assembly constituencies in Telangana by re-demarcation, Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy has said. The central government has not made any plans to increase the assembly constituencies on the demand of the BRS government.

The Telangana government has asked the Centre to increase the existing 119 seats to 153 under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. However, Kishan Reddy has said that as a result of the division of the state, there was no need to increase assembly seats. Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir were redrawn because there was no demarcation in Kashmir when delimitation was going on in the country.

The Telangana government cited the example of Jammu and Kashmir and demanded an increase in seats. Kishan Reddy says constitutional amendments are needed to increase assembly seats in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. And this will be possible only after the new census in 2026. He said the increase in assembly seats in the two Telugu states is likely in 2031.

  • Telangana: Kishan Reddy dares KCR for debate on Indian economy

Telangana: Kishan Reddy dares KCR for debate on Indian economy

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said that he is ready for a debate with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the country’s economy.

Reacting strongly to CM KCR’s speech made in the state Assembly on Sunday, the central minister alleged that he insulted the country and its hardworking people through his baseless comments.

“We are ready for debate. Will you come to Press Club or martyrs’ memorial or want us to come to Pragati Bhavan or your farmhouse,” asked Kishan Reddy.

The BJP leader also wanted to know from the chief minister if he would come with his resignation letter in his pocket.

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the most inefficient Prime Minister the country has seen, KCR had reeled out statistics to say that the country is lagging on various economic parameters. The chief minister had said that if the statistics given by him proved wrong he was ready to resign.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Kishan Reddy remarked that KCR will anyway have to resign after a few months as BJP will come to power in Telangana.

Kishan Reddy alleged that KCR misused his office and the Budget Session of the Assembly to target the Centre and the Prime Minister. He said KCR overstepped his limits to compare India with other countries but did not speak even a word about the state Budget.

He said that KCR spoke out of his ignorance about the state of India’s economy and suggested that he search the data on Google.

Kishan Reddy asked if KCR did not know that during Manmohan Singh’s tenure India was the 11th largest economy in the world but under Narendra Modi, it became the fifth largest economy. He also pointed out that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted that India will overtake Germany to become the fourth largest economy by 2027.

The BJP leader also disputed KCR’s claim on India’s high rate of borrowings and claimed that this is lower than the borrowings of countries like the United States and the United Kingdom. He said that the US’debt to GDP ratio is 120 per cent while for the UK it is 273 per cent. India’s debt to GDP is only 19.9 per cent, he said.

The central minister questioned KCR’s silence on the state’s finance position and claimed that Telangana’s debts, which were Rs 60,000 crore in 2014, have now mounted to Rs 5 lakh crore due to indiscriminate borrowings by KCR government.

He also alleged that thousands of crore of rupees were swindled in Telangana in the name of projects by raising debts.

The BJP leader asked why there was no debate in the Assembly on family rule in Telangana, double bed-room scheme, irregularities in Dharani portal, unemployment allowance and unfulfilled promise to allot three acres of land to every Dalit family.

  • Telangana govt made governor to state lies: Kishan Reddy

Telangana govt made governor to state lies: Kishan Reddy

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy today alleged that the BRS Party led state government made the governor of Telangana Tamilisai Soundararajan to state lies in her joint address to the state legislature on the first day of the budget session. He alleged that the state government had taken credit for all the programs being implemented with financial support from the central government. Stating that the governor was made to state that the state government had achieved several milestones, which it actually had not achieved in reality, he said that such lies were a classic example of the cheap politics of the ruling party.

He said that the state government, which had created an unnecessary issue over the address of the governor initially agreed to allow it in the state assembly after the intervention of the high court of the state. Referring to the Jai Telangana slogan given by the governor at the end of her address, Reddy said that the slogan by the governor was an proof to show her love towards the people of the state although the CM Of the state KCR had abandoned the slogan in recent times.

In a statement, Reddy asked the state government, which stated that it was successful in the transformation of all lthe villages of the state, whether it had forgotten the fact of diverting funds belonging to the village sarpanches and keeping their bills of completed works pending for a long time? He mocked that it would have been good if the state government spoke about the dilution of the local bodies of the state by it. Referring to the notices being issued by the public representatives of various municipalities and municipal corporations, Reddy said termed them as an opposition to the state government and added that the people of the state were carefully observing all such developments. Referring to the statement of the governor that the income of the state government had gone up from Rs.62,000 crores  in the financial year 2014-15 to Rs.1.84 lakh crores by the end of the year 2021, he asked the state government if it had forgotten about the fact that a state with a surplus revenue of Rs.16,000 crores was pushed into a debt trap of Rs.5 lakh crore by it. Referring to the mentioning of the Rythu Bandhu scheme in the address of the governor, Reddy said that it would have been good if the state government revealed the fact that it was extending the monetary benefits under the schemes to the owners of hillocks barren lands, ventures and granites and landlords under the scheme.

He asked the state government as to why thousands of farmers committed suicide if the rythu bandhu scheme brought light into their lives? Referring to the claims of the 24-hour long power supply to the farm sector of the state, Reddy said that it was laughable that the state government made such claim when the farmers were holding dharnas at various sub stations of the state demanding the round the clock power supply. He alleged that the state government had not utilised the funds being given by the central government for the education of the minority students of the state. He also alleged that the state government was obstructing the release of Rs.250 crores from the central government for the SC students by deliberately not sending the requisite details. He claimed that there was no response from the state government despite several reminders from them.

  • Shift warehouses to city outskirts: Kishan Reddy on recent fires

Shift warehouses to city outskirts: Kishan Reddy on recent fires

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday urged the Telangana government to shift godowns and warehouses operating in residential areas without necessary permissions to the city outskirts.

Keeping in mind the fire incident reported at Ministers Road at Secunderabad in a sports store (which continued for over a day and resulted in a death), Kishan Reddy asked the government to check buildings and other structures in Hyderabad to follow basic fire safety standards.

Reddy said that “learning a lesson” from such an incident will be beneficial in the future. He also spoke to the residents of the colony who were affected by the fire accident.

The union minister instructed officials from the Fire department to make sure that people who were living in fear of the same building collapsing after the fire incident to be provided with all sorts of necessities like food and shelter. The minister also said to arrange a medical camp for the people to check the impact of the toxic fumes that evolved during this incident.

BJP leader and former vice-chairman of the national disaster management authority Marri Shashidhar Reddy a day earlier also wrote to Telangana chief secretary A Santhi Kumari and requested her to go into detail about the incident including the efforts made to douse the flames.

Going through this detail in bringing the fire under control, Shashidhar Reddy said that officials had found it difficult to get water tankers to fill up the empty fire engines. He added that there is an immediate need to make a committee of experts to make a comprehensive study, document response actions, identify defects, shortcomings, and make recommendations for prevention and better preparedness- all in a time-bound and transparent manner.

Observing the incident that took place on January 19, Shashidhar Reddy said it was the third major incident that broke out in 10 months in Secunderabad, which left 19 people dead in the first two incidents. He felt that except for the people’s representatives making photo-ops and giving statements every time, investigations into the causes of such accidents weren’t made public.
