Birth anniversary of richest Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan observed

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The birth anniversary of the last and the richest Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, was observed on Thursday. Relatives, historians, and others visited Masjid-e-Judi at King Kothi to offer floral tributes.

On the occasion of his birth anniversary, Mir Najaf Ali Khan, the grandson of Mir Osman Ali Khan, urged the state government to declare a holiday.

    Richest Nizam of Hyderabad

Mir Osman Ali Khan who ruled the largest princely state in British India from 1911 to 1948 was one of the richest persons in the world, with a net worth of USD 236 billion (adjusted for inflation).

    MS Education Academy

Mir Osman Ali Khan’s wealth can be gauged by the fact that he used the rare Jacob diamond, a 185-carat lime-sized gem, as a paperweight and owned the Golconda Diamond Mines, which was a significant source of his wealth. He also owned 50 Rolls-Royce cars. In 1937, TIME magazine referred to him as the ‘richest man on the planet.’

The size of the erstwhile Hyderabad state was roughly the size of the present-day United Kingdom.

    Architect of modern Hyderabad

Mir Osman Ali Khan was not just known for his wealth but was also a good administrator. He is called the ‘Architect of modern Hyderabad’ for his contribution to the development of the city.

He established Osmania University in 1918, introduced electricity, developed railways, roads, and airports, and established many institutions, including Osmania General Hospital, State Bank of Hyderabad, Begumpet Airport, and Hyderabad High Court. To prevent Hyderabad from floods, he built Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar and also built the Nizam Sagar Dam.

Even after the merger of Hyderabad into India, he was made Rajpramukh of Hyderabad. He served the Hyderabad State between 1950 and 1956 as Rajpramukh.

He passed away at the age of 80 years on February 24, 1967, and was laid to rest at Masjid-e-Judi at King Kothi.

Saif Ali Khan refuses to work with Jr NTR, here’s why

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has always been known to pick unconventional roles and is known for his versatility as an actor. He has reportedly turned down an offer to star in the upcoming big-budget Telugu film NTR 30, which features Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. He was approached to play antagonist in the movie.

While the exact reason behind Saif rejected this offer is unknown, it is possible that he might have felt that the role offered to him did not align with his vision. Alternatively, it could be a simple case of scheduling conflicts, with the actor having prior commitments that prevent him from taking up the project.

Whatever the reason may be, it is clear that Saif Ali Khan’s presence in NTR 30 would have added to the star power of the already much-anticipated film.

Speaking more NTR 30, the movie is being directed by Koratala Siva and is set to go on floors soon. It marks Janhvi Kapoor’s debut in Tollywood.

Saif Ali Khan, on the other hand, has pan-India movie Adipurush which stars Kriti Sanon and Prabhas in the lead roles.

One frame showed Hrithik looking at Saba in a manner exuding his feelings for her while Saba’s eyes are fixed at the camera. The ‘Rocket Boys’ star looked vibrant in a red fusion gown while Hrithik chose a black kurta paired with pyjamas for the evening.

Rumours about Hrithik and Saba’s relationship started swirling after they were spotted out on a dinner date in February last year. Later, she also joined Hrithik’s family for a get-together.

All speculations on their relationship were set at rest after the two walked hand-in-hand at actor Karan Johar’s 50th birthday bash in May. Hrithik was previously married to interior designer Sussanne Khan.
The NMACC, situated within the Jio World Centre at Bandra Kurla Complex here, was inaugurated on Friday and the fashion showcase was launched on the second day of the opening gala on Saturday.

The exhibition explores the layered impact that traditional Indian dress, textiles and craft have had on international fashion sensibility since the 18th century and features iconic Western couture and ready-to-wear designs inspired by India, from the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • Gen Bajwa put pressure on me to develop friendly ties with India, claims Imran Khan

Gen Bajwa put pressure on me to develop friendly ties with India, claims Imran Khan

    [ad_1]

Lahore: Pakistan’s ousted prime minister Imran Khan has claimed that the then Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had put pressure on him to develop friendly ties with India.

Relations between India and Pakistan have often been strained over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. However, their ties nose-dived after India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the State into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019.

“Gen Bajwa wanted me to develop friendly ties with India. He put pressure on me for this and it was one of the reasons our relationship deteriorated,” Khan claimed during an interaction with social media journalists at his Lahore’s Zaman Park residence on Saturday evening.

    MS Education Academy

He, however, reiterated his stance that Pakistan should only hold peace talks with India provided New Delhi restores the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

India has repeatedly told Pakistan that it desires normal neighbourly relations with Islamabad in an environment free of terror, hostility and violence.

The 70-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman further said what Gen (retd.) Bajwa did to Pakistan even an enemy couldn’t do. “Bajwa should be held accountable by the army,” he said.

Khan in the past accused Bajwa of not only toppling his country that laid a foundation of economic disaster but also committing atrocities against him, his party members and journalists. “Bajwa wanted me killed,” Khan alleged.

Khan has been at loggerheads with Gen (retd.) Bajwa ever since his ouster from power in April last year by a no-confidence motion.

Gen (retd) Bajwa retired on November 29 last year after two consecutive three-year terms.

Regarding the PML-N led federal government’s assertion that it would not accept the verdict of a three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial in polls in two provinces, Khan said: “I know what kind of benefits this cabal of corrupts would get by delaying the elections in Punjab and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. They are just delaying elections hoping to crush the PTI or finish Imran Khan.” Khan asked the ruling alliance to explain the reasons for postponing polls till October, 2023. “If elections are not held within 90 days in two provinces Pakistan will be without a constitution,” he said.

Khan’s party had dissolved assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in January after which a caretaker setup took over. Under the constitution, elections are held within 90 days from the date of dissolution of an assembly.

“Pakistan is facing a critical moment in its history. The nation must stand by the Constitution and rule of law,” Khan asserted.

General Bajwa put pressure on me to restore ties with India: Imran Khan

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa had pressurised him to restore friendship with India, the media reported.

Bajwa wanted friendship with India and put pressure on him for this, Khan was quoted as saying by The News.

Bajwa said something one day and retracted it the next day. His accountability should be initiated within the army, he said.

    MS Education Academy

Answering a question about the general elections, the PTI chairman said if the elections were not held in 90 days, there would be no Constitution left in the country and then he would take direct action.

Earlier this month, Pakistan again denied it was holding any “backchannel” talks with bordering India but reiterated its desire for a peaceful neighbourhood, The Express Tribune reported.

“At this stage, there is no back channel (talks) between Pakistan and India,” said Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch while responding to a question at a weekly briefing, The Express Tribune reported.

Relations between the two neighbouring countries have remained at a standstill for the last many years.

Pakistan had not only downgraded diplomatic ties but suspended bilateral trade with India.

However, there was a chance of a possible thaw in ties when two countries engaged in backchannel talks in 2021. The secret meetings between senior security officials of Pakistan and India in the UAE led to the renewal of ceasefire understanding along the Line of Control (LoC) in February 2021, The Express Tribune reported.

The next move was to restore bilateral trade but the process came to a halt when the government of then premier Khan turned down the decision to import sugar and cotton from India.

Some reports later claimed that backchannel talks even discussed the possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pakistan.

Justin, Hailey Bieber’s remark on Ramzan fasting irks Gauahar Khan

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Actor Gauahar Khan called out celebrity couple Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber for their comments on fasting during the holy month of Ramzan after they laughed over the aspects of ‘Roza’. In an online interview, Justin and Hailey made fun of people who observe fast during Ramzan. Justin was saying that fasting “deprives your body of nutrition.”

After watching the interview of Justin and Hailey, Bigg Boss fame Gauahar Khan took to her Instagram stories to call out the celebrity couple for making such an insensitive remark.

Justin and Hailey are seen discussing the concept of fasting in an interview shared by a page named Hijab Modern on Instagram. “I gotta really think about that, I have never really done it…I think our bodies need nutrition to think properly.” starts Justin.

Hailey then said that without having food for the whole day does not “make sense to her,” and further said, if you want to fast off the TV, fast off your phone, I think I believe in that more, but fasting off food… it never really made sense to me… or if you are fasting sweets or fasting sugar.”

“We’re totally like yeah, that’s why you are stupid!” she concluded.

The comments made by Justin and Hailey did not go well with Gauahar Khan and she posted the video on her Instagram Stories and wrote in the caption, “Just proves how dumb they are. Only if they knew about the science behind it. And the health benefits from it! Get an education @Justinbieber and @haileybieber. Its okay to have an opinion btw! But be intelligent enough to put forth correctly.”
