“Demeans women to such extent…” YSRTP chief Sharmila slams KCR

Hyderabad: Having decided to approach the Women’s Commission against Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao, YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila on Monday said that women are not respected during KCR’s rule in the state.

Speaking to ANI, Sharmila said, “It is evident that KCR fears Sharmila. Since my padayatra crossed 3,000 km milestone, KCR’s goons have been trying to foil this.

Women are not respected in Telangana. Ruling party leaders using derogatory language against me since I entered politics and began padayatra.”

“Just because we are taking it up does not mean you demean women to such an extent. We have decided today to go to the Women’s Commission and give a complaint,” she added.

Earlier on Sunday, Telangana Police detained YS Sharmila for allegedly making inappropriate remarks against the Mahabubabad MLA and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Shankar Naik.

Asked about the complaint against her over her alleged objectionable comments against MLA Shankar Naik, the YSRTP chief said, “Shankar Naik, an ST, called me a ‘eunuch’ to which I replied saying, ‘Who is the eunuch? Are not you the eunuch?’ That is the only thing I did. Is it my fault to reply?”

“They are saying that there can be action but there should not be a reaction from me. Just because I responded and asked him the same question, cases are being filed against me, that too an SC/ST Atrocity case. How fair is this? Is not this misusing that law?” added Sharmila.

On Sunday, YSRTP Chief said that Telangana is the Afghanistan of India and KCR is its Taliban.
Speaking to reporters in Mahbubabad, Sharmila said, “He (Telangana CM KCR) is a dictator, he is a tyrant, there is no Indian Constitution in Telangana, there is only KCR’s Constitution. Telangana is the Afghanistan of India and KCR is its Taliban.”

Telangana Police detained YS Sharmila on Sunday for allegedly making inappropriate remarks against the BRS MLA Shankar Naik.

The police moved her to Hyderabad to avoid any law and order problems in the town of Mahabubabad. They registered a case against her under section 504 of the Indian Penal Code Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace] and section 3(1)r of the SC ST POA Act.

Addressing a public meeting, YS Sharmila allegedly attacked the Mahabubabad MLA for not fulfilling his promises and said, “You gave many promises to the people, which you have not fulfilled. If you are not fulfilling your promises, that means you are a kojja [castrate],” she said in a public meeting on Saturday.

Following the incident, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi staged a sit-in protest in the district against YS Sharmila for her alleged derogatory remarks against Mahabubabad MLA.

The protestors on the road were showing their rage against the YSRTP chief by sloganeering “Go Back Sharmila” and burning the hoardings and flexes of the party.

Medak custodial death: Are Bahujans lower than dogs? Telangana BSP asks KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief RS Praveen Kumar on Sunday questioned state chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on the alleged custodial death of Mohammad Khadeer Khan and asked if Bahujans hold lesser value than dogs under his rule.

“KCR garu, you have filed a case against the doctors that your puppy-husky died, but your police are still chasing a poor Bahujan man Khadeer Khan to the point of kidney damage in Medak. Are our poor lives in Telangana worse than your dogs?? #Justice4KhadirKhan,” Praveen Kumar tweeted.

Praveen Kumar was referring to a case in September 2019, where Hyderabad police had charged a veterinary doctor with negligence in the death of Husky, a pet dog at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the chief minister. The Hulk breed, a cross between a pit bull terrier and a bulldog, belonged to the 11-month-old dog. Husky allegedly died on September 11 after the veterinarian gave him an injection.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from Asif Ali Khan, who looks after the pet dogs at Pragati Bhavan. The complainant claimed that the dog died as a result of the doctor and the doctor in charge of the private veterinary clinic where the dog was rushed after his condition deteriorated following the injection.

The custodial death case of Muslim man in Medak

In his last video, Mohammad Khadeer, as a ‘dying declaration’, alleged that the Medak police thrashed him for 5 days and they tried to cover it up.

Mohammad Khadeer died at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad after the Medak police allegedly tortured him causing major injuries that led to his death.

Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar on Saturday directed the Inspector General of Police to supervise the probe of the alleged custodial torture-related death of the 35-year-old labourer who was picked up by Medak police, suspecting his role in a theft case.

In a statement while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Medak, he alleged that he was kept in custody for five days and beaten up by policemen though he kept telling them that he was innocent.

“The cops said the person involved looks like me,” he said.

The police let him off on February 2 when he was unable to move his hands. They (police) asked him to tell others that he was kept in custody for one night. They also asked him to sign a paper and as he was unable to even hold the pen, one of the policemen signed the paper.

Khadeer named the two constables and the Sub-Inspector (SI). He said while the SI only slapped him twice or thrice, the two constables beat him up all over the body.

Due to the alleged torture, Khadeer could not stand on his feet, and his kidneys were also damaged. His wife Siddeshwari, alleged that police used third-degree methods on him. On February 9, he was admitted to a hospital in Medak.

As Khadeer’s condition kept deteriorating, he was referred to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on February 17 and is survived by his wife and two children.

The body was handed over to the family members early Saturday morning after autopsy and it was later taken to Medak for last rites.

Qadeer’s death triggered public outrage. Local Muslim community leaders urged Bharat Rastra Samiti (BRS) MLA M. Padma Devender Reddy to take action against the policemen involved.

Subsequently, the MLA spoke with the Medak Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohini Priyadarshini, demanding an investigation into the incident.

The SP transferred SI Rajshekar and the two constables, Pavan and Prashanth.

AIMIM MLA from Hyderabad, Kausar Mohiuddin visited Medak and attended the funeral on Saturday morning. He slammed the police for the restrictions imposed on the funeral and questioned if Qadeer was a “naxalite or terrorist”.

The MLA demanded that the three policemen involved in the case should be booked for murder. He said the FIR should be changed to include the names of the SI and the two constables.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President A Revanth Reddy on Sunday demanded the government provide exgratia of fifty lakh rupees to the kin of the deceased.

KCR calls Budget a joke when Telangana has debt of Rs 3L Crores: Fin Min

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Discussing the Union Budget 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday slammed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) for calling the Centre’s vision of a 5 trillion dollar economy, a joke.

She further took a jab at the state’s economy and said that Telangana’s debt has mounted significantly in the last 7-8 years.

Speaking at the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Sunday, KCR had said that the target of a 5 trillion size economy was a ‘joke’ and a very low target. He had also said that while PM Modi won in the parliamentary elections of 2014, the country lost.

“Ex-PM Manmohan Singh worked hard and spoke less, it’s the opposite case with the current Prime Minister,” the Telangana CM had said.

Responding to his comments on the economy, Sitharaman said “CM garu don’t joke and let’s all speak about it (the Budget) with responsibility.”

“How can you tell that aim of 5 trillion economy is a joke? Every state should contribute towards it. Who are you laughing upon, the people? In 2014, debt of Telangana was Rs 60,000 crores, but in the last 7-8 years it has crossed Rs.3 lakh crores,” she added.

Telangana: CM KCR hails tribal leader Sant Sevalal Maharaj

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) on Tuesday spoke highly of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, a revered leader of the Banjara and Lambada community on the occassion of the leader’s birth anniversary.

CM KCR extended greetings to the Lambada and Banjara community on the occasion of 284th birth anniversary of Sant Sevalal Maharaj.

The Chief Minister said that Sewalal Maharaj had three centuries ago visited the area which is known as Banjara Hills. CM KCR further said that organizing Sevalal birth anniversary celebrations is another example of the due recognition accorded to the existence and self-respect of the downtrodden communities (Scheduled Tribes) in separate Telangana.

CM KCR said that the efforts put by Sevalal to preserve the unique nature worship, spiritual outlook and socio-cultural way of life of people living in the forests is commendable.

“Sevalal Maharaj fought a lifetime struggle to safeguard his people from the outside society. Awareness created and the activities undertaken by Sevalal became a protective shield for Lambada/Banjaras across the country,” KCR added.

He also added that the BRS led government fulfilled the “long cherished democratic aspirations” of the tribal community ie. “Maa Tandalo Maa Rajyam ( My rule in my habitation ) by converting the Tandas into Gram Panchayats and made them partners in the village administration.

  • Telangana: Kishan Reddy dares KCR for debate on Indian economy

Telangana: Kishan Reddy dares KCR for debate on Indian economy

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said that he is ready for a debate with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the country’s economy.

Reacting strongly to CM KCR’s speech made in the state Assembly on Sunday, the central minister alleged that he insulted the country and its hardworking people through his baseless comments.

“We are ready for debate. Will you come to Press Club or martyrs’ memorial or want us to come to Pragati Bhavan or your farmhouse,” asked Kishan Reddy.

The BJP leader also wanted to know from the chief minister if he would come with his resignation letter in his pocket.

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the most inefficient Prime Minister the country has seen, KCR had reeled out statistics to say that the country is lagging on various economic parameters. The chief minister had said that if the statistics given by him proved wrong he was ready to resign.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Kishan Reddy remarked that KCR will anyway have to resign after a few months as BJP will come to power in Telangana.

Kishan Reddy alleged that KCR misused his office and the Budget Session of the Assembly to target the Centre and the Prime Minister. He said KCR overstepped his limits to compare India with other countries but did not speak even a word about the state Budget.

He said that KCR spoke out of his ignorance about the state of India’s economy and suggested that he search the data on Google.

Kishan Reddy asked if KCR did not know that during Manmohan Singh’s tenure India was the 11th largest economy in the world but under Narendra Modi, it became the fifth largest economy. He also pointed out that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted that India will overtake Germany to become the fourth largest economy by 2027.

The BJP leader also disputed KCR’s claim on India’s high rate of borrowings and claimed that this is lower than the borrowings of countries like the United States and the United Kingdom. He said that the US’debt to GDP ratio is 120 per cent while for the UK it is 273 per cent. India’s debt to GDP is only 19.9 per cent, he said.

The central minister questioned KCR’s silence on the state’s finance position and claimed that Telangana’s debts, which were Rs 60,000 crore in 2014, have now mounted to Rs 5 lakh crore due to indiscriminate borrowings by KCR government.

He also alleged that thousands of crore of rupees were swindled in Telangana in the name of projects by raising debts.

The BJP leader asked why there was no debate in the Assembly on family rule in Telangana, double bed-room scheme, irregularities in Dharani portal, unemployment allowance and unfulfilled promise to allot three acres of land to every Dalit family.
