Telangana: KCR urges BRS cadre to dispel ‘misinformation campaign’ of opposition

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday exhorted his party cadre to reach out to people ahead of elections this year and dispel the “misinformation campaign” of opposition parties.

In an open letter addressed to BRS “family members”, he slammed the BJP for attacking the BRS that is working for the country by taking up the slogan of ‘Ab ki baar, kisaan sarkar’ (This time around, a government for farmers).

The BJP-led Central government is creating hurdles for the development of Telangana, he claimed.

Noting that the BRS has a history of defeating “conspiracies and attacks”, Rao said the state of Telangana would not have been a reality had BRS felt fearful about such attacks in the past.

He also said Telangana, which once only had “problems, tears and droughts”, has now emerged as a role model for the entire country by implementing various welfare schemes that cater to all sections of society.

Meanwhile, Rao said the country is faced with problems related to drinking water, availability of food for the poor, irrigation facility to agriculture and electricity supply.

Alleging that the BJP and Congress lacked vision and resolve for development, he said a new journey has been started in the form of BRS to influence national politics.

The BRS had earlier alleged that the NDA government misused investigation agencies like CBI and ED and also harassed several BRS leaders, including party MLC K Kavitha.

AIMIM chief Owaisi praises KCR in Bihar

    [ad_1]

Patna: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi showered praise on K Chandrasekhara Rao, the Chief Minister of his home state of Telangana, which is bracing for assembly elections later this year.

The Hyderabad MP was replying to queries from journalists in Bihar’s Kishanganj district, before winding up his tour of “Seemanchal”, a densely populated but poverty-ridden and flood-prone region of the state.

“I must say KCR has a vision. And he has done something worthwhile during his tenure, so far,” said Owaisi on Sunday in reply to a question about Prime Ministerial ambitions of regional satraps like Rao. Owaisi also praised KCR’s counterparts in Bihar and West Bengal, Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee, respectively.

“Telangana is a landlocked state. Yet it has a very impressive gross state domestic product. It used to rank the highest in terms of use of pump sets. It is still the second highest producer of fisheries,” said the AIMIM Chief, whose party has seven MLAs in the 119-strong assembly.

Although KCR’s party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), enjoys a brute majority, it faces a challenge in the upcoming elections with the BJP making inroads and, according to many political experts, tipped to replace the Congress as the principal opposition in Telangana.

Owaisi also lambasted the Congress and its allies for “crying democracy is in danger over what happened in Maharashtra but looking the other way when our MLAs in Bihar were lured away”.

The AIMIM had won five seats in the Bihar assembly polls of 2020 and four of its MLAs joined the RJD last year, one of them even getting a cabinet berth.

Owaisi said, “We wanted an alliance with Mahagathbandhan in 2020, but they derided us… Our performance was there for all to see. We had contested only 10 seats. In 2025, we will field our candidates in 50 constituencies of the 243-strong Bihar assembly”.

Sangeet Natak Akademi in Hyderabad: Kishan Reddy writes to KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has written a letter to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao requesting him to identify and allot suitable land of 10 acres in the heart of Hyderabad city for setting up a Regional Centre of Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA).

Reddy in his letter, on March 9, said that the SNA which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture would develop this into a “state-of-the-art Regional centre and a leading cultural space that would foster the cultural growth and performative milieu of the state.”

The letter also said that the availability of infrastructure such as pre-existing structures and buildings will expedite the Ministry of Culture and SNA’s efforts in commencing the Centre at the earliest.

The Union Minister in his letter stated, “The Sangeet Natak Akademi currently has no presence in Telangana or Andhra and the centre is envisaged for the promotion of research and documentation of music, folk and tribal arts, theatre and puppetry as all other regional centres of SNA cater to dance forms.”

Infrastructural requirements of the centre would include a library, documentation centre and an auditorium for performing art including multifunctional space beside the office space, the letter reads.

The Minister reminded the CM of Telangana’s rich and diverse intangible cultural heritage that includes dance forms such as Perini Sivatandavam that have been patronised by the Kakatiya dynasty and traditional forms of story-telling such as Golla Suddulu, Oggu Kathalu, Gotralu and Chindu Bhagavatam.

“Telangana’s large tribal population also give us the opportunity to showcase unique dance forms such as Gusadi, Lambadi, Mayuri and Dhimsa. Apart from this, Telangana is also a bridge between northern and southern India as a home to several elements of syncretic Intangible Cultural Heritage”, the Union Minister added.

Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture and an apex body in the field of performing arts in the country has the mandate to preserve and promote India’s vast Intangible Cultural Heritage of diverse culture expressed in the forms of music, dance and drama.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi now has two constituent units, the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) at Imphal, and Kathak Kendra in Delhi. Besides the constituent units, the Akademi presently has five centres: Kutiyattam Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram for preserving and promoting the age-old Sanskrit theatre of Kerala, Sattriya Kendra, Guwahati for promoting the Sattriya traditions of Assam.

North-East Centre, Guwahati for preserving the traditional and folk performing art traditions of north-eastern India. North-East Documentation Centre, Agartala for festival and field documentation in the northeast. Chhau Kendra, Chandankiyari for promoting the Chhau Dances of eastern India.

BJP MPs called for Muslim boycott but Modi busy targetting KCR: Owaisi

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday remarked that while MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have given calls for the economic boycott of Muslims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy targetting Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family for his ‘leadership in Telangana’s inclusive development’.

Owaisi’s remarks towards the Prime Minister come on the same day as Kavitha’s probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for her role in the Delhi Liquour policy scam case.

“BJP MPs have called for economic boycott of Muslims; they’ve asked people to keep weapons at home. But Modi govt is busy targeting @TelanganaCMO & his family for his leadership in Telangana’s inclusive development,” he tweeted.

He was referring to BJP MP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma’s alleged remarks calling for a ‘total boycott’ of Muslims while speaking at a meeting organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in north-east Delhi’s Dilshad Garden in October 2022.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha on Saturday joined the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) probe in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam case.

She reached the ED office at around 11.05 a.m., and her statement will be recorded under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

A woman deputy director level official will record her testimony.

Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was summoned to join the probe on Thursday, but she wrote a letter seeking more time after which her questioning was postponed for Saturday.

On Friday, she staged a protest at Jantar Mantar and claimed that she had never met former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, adding that her name was unnecessaryily being dragged into the matter.

According to the ED, Kavitha is also one of the representatives of South Group which allegedly paid a kickback of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders.

The BRS leader might be confronted with the Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai who was arrested on Friday as the latter is also from the South Group.

“The South Group was represented by Abhishek Boinpally, Arun Pillai and Buchi Babu. Boinpalli facilitated the transfer of Rs 100 crore kickback in connivance and conspiracy with Nair and his associate Dinesh Arora. Now we will have to confront Pillai with Kavitha,” an ED source had said.

Sisodia is currently on ED’s remand.

There are possibilities that Kavitha might be confronted with Sisodia in connection with the alleged kickback.

Telangana Secretariat complex to be inaugurated on April 30: KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: After inspecting the construction works at the Secretariate on Friday, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced that that the complex would be inaugurated on April 30.

He further declared that the 125-foot statue of Dr BR Ambedkar would be unveiled on April 14, marking the birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian Constitution.

“On the occasion, a massive public meeting would be organised at NTR Stadium, inviting people from weaker sections from across the state,” he added.

Adding on to his announcement, he said that all ministers and other officials would be allocated chambers in the Secretariat on April 20, enabling them to commence operations from April 30 effectively.

The Telangana Martyrs Memorial would be inaugurated on the banks of Hussain Sagar on June1 following which a grand celebration of Telangana Formation Day would be organised on June 2.

“The construction of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue, the Secretariat and the Martyrs’ Memorial within the same locality, has a lot of significance,” said KCR.

He added saying, “The Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial will be a constant reminder to all elected representatives visiting the Secretariat about the sacrifices of people to achieve Telangana State.”

While convening a joint meeting of BRS Parliamentary Party, Legislative Party and the general body at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, KCR said that the 125-feet tall Ambedkar statue is to emphasise the need to treat all equally and act with responsibility.

  • KCR rules out early elections in Telangana at BRS meeting

KCR rules out early elections in Telangana at BRS meeting

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Putting all rumours of early elections in the state to rest, BRS chief and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced unequivocally on Friday that elections will be held only as scheduled.

At the same time, pointing out that all polls were in favour of the BRS, he expressed confidence that the party would return to power in Telangana for the third time in a row.

Addressing a four-hour meeting of ministers, MPs, legislators, and party general body members at Telangana Bhavan, KCR assured sitting legislators that they would be retained in the Assembly elections but also warned that corruption, rudeness, and irresponsibility would not be tolerated.

He asked them to ensure the effective implementation of all government programmes in their constituencies in collaboration with in-charge ministers, and he also set deadlines for completing all outstanding works, in addition to asking them to confront opposition parties head-on and not give them any opportunity to take advantage of them.

“All of the polls are in our favour. The majority of MLAs will be re-elected. Therefore, no public claims or corruption charges would be permitted. All outstanding work on welfare and development programmes should be finished by August since notice for Assembly elections is due in September or October,” he told party cadre.

The BRS chief urged all party leaders to be vigilant and leave no space for error.

    On ED notices to Kavitha

On ED notices to MLC Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case, KCR said that the BJP-led centre is employing investigative agencies for harassing political opponents.

“After employing central agencies to harass ministers and other elected representatives in the pretext of investigations, they have now targeted BRS MLC K Kavitha. So let us not get bogged down and instead continue to expose the BJP in front of the people of the country till they are deposed,” he remarked.

He warned them that the BJP was keeping a close eye on BRS leaders’ actions in order to use them politically. He said that the BJP was scheming and persecuting elected BRS representatives to cover up the BJP’s ‘ineptitude’, citing Telangana’s ‘tremendous success’ and becoming a role model for other states without relying on the Centre.

The chief minister also asked all MLAs to stay accessible to the people and party workers in their areas, referring to the party cadre as its strength. They were expected to bridge any gaps with local leaders and activists and to make substantial efforts to bring government programmes to the people. It was suggested that they organise ‘padayatras’ and reach out to the people in order to address local concerns.

“Elected representatives should organise Atmeeya Sammelans with party workers over the next two months and develop the party more at the grassroots. This process should include all MPs, MLAs, MLCs, corporate chairpersons, and other leaders,” he stated.

He also urged them to prepare for the next part of the Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi programmes, which would begin soon.

Power lies in hands of one family: BJP’s DK Aruna hits out at CM KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Alleging CM K Chandrashekar Rao of misuse of power, Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice President DK Aruna on Thursday claimed that police cases are being registered against those who stand against the KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi government in Telangana.

“In Telangana, entire power lies in the hands of one family & they (BRS) think that all are like them. Here, police cases are being registered against those who stand against BRS,” D K Aruna claimed.

Aruna said that K Kavitha is staging a protest at Jantar Mantar against the women’s reservation bill on March 10 and here in Telangana, we are also staging a protest at the BJP party office against the “harassment of women” and “ragging of girls” in colleges in the state.

Earlier in the month, Telangana BJP leader N Ramchander Rao said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should protect women in his state before her daughter K Kavitha demanded women’s reservation bill for the country.

“It is very surprising that Kavitha speaks of the women reservation bill in the Parliament while her own father has not given a single ministry to a woman in the first term of his tenure.

How is a woman being respected in this state? The woman governor is being humiliated and harassed by their (BRS) government and she (Kavitha) speaks of women’s reservations” he had said.

Aruna accused CM KCR of maintaining silence on the alleged cases of atrocities against women.
“The government is not taking any interest in the welfare of the women who are facing many atrocities. CM doesn’t speak a word or give assurances to them,” Aruna took a dig at the KCR government.

Telangana BJP leader had stated that the decision to protest outside Jantar Mantar on the women’s reservation bill is just an election gimmick and there is nothing more to it.

“This is all just to woo the women voters who will never believe in the BRS party because the majority of the women have suffered, law and order have deteriorated and atrocities against women have increased in the BRS regime,” he had added.
