New MacBook Pro Coming: Apple Will Release New Laptops Equipped With ‘M2’ – Kashmir News

New MacBook Pro Coming: Apple Will Release New Laptops Equipped With ‘M2’

Apple is launching a new line of MacBook Pros next week as the tech giant continues to push hardware with its own custom processing chips. The MacBook Pro laptops will be available for pre-order on Monday, the company announced, and will launch on January 24. The MacBooks start at $1,999.

The laptops will feature Apple’s newest M2 Pro and M2 Max “systems on a chip,” which the company said will provide increased power and efficiency.

“MacBook Pro with Apple silicon has been a game changer, empowering pros to push the limits of their workflows while on the go and do things they never thought possible on a laptop,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, in a statement Monday.

Apple faster M2 chips, powerful laptops

The Mac mini starts at $599, cheaper than the latest iPhone 14 series, and is available from Jan. 24. MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch with the latest chips start at $1,999, compared with the $1,299 price tag of a 13-inch model fitted with the M2 chip.

Apple’s latest chips are upgrades to the M2 chip launched last year and a part of the company’s efforts to rely more on chips designed in-house after it moved away from using Intel’s technology in 2020 following 15 years of collaboration.

The M2 Pro has nearly 20% more transistors than the M1 Pro and double the amount in M2, helping programs like Adobe Photoshop run heavy workloads “faster than ever”, Apple said.

How fast are the new MacBooks?

The new processing chips offer a significant increase in performance compared to models of the MacBook Pro that run on Intel chips.

For example, the MacBook running on an M2 Pro chip can process images in Adobe Photoshop 80% faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook, Apple said. It’s also 40% faster than MacBooks with the earlier M1 Pro chip.

The new MacBooks also support the latest Wi-Fi standard for faster wireless connectivity and an advanced HDMI port for 8K displays.

How much are the new MacBook Pros?

They are not cheap. The 14-inch model with the M2 Pro starts at $1,999, but shoot up quickly in cost depending on the chip, screen size and other factors.

For example, a MacBook Pro with a 16-inch screen, M2 Max chip and 1 terabyte of SSD storage costs $3,499. Add more SSD storage and unified memory support, and the MacBook sets you back $6,499.

  • Centre seeks state’s report on ‘Azad Kashmir’ question in Bengal’s test-paper

Centre seeks state’s report on ‘Azad Kashmir’ question in Bengal’s test-paper

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: A day after a row erupted in Bengal over the recently-released compilation of test-papers for secondary examination released by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) having a question on ‘Azad Kashmir’, the Centre on Wednesday sought an explanatory report from the state government on this count.

WBBSE releases the test-paper compilation every year, which contains Class 10 final test examination (pre-board) questions of some leading schools. The compilation acts as a suggestion for the candidates appearing for the Class 10 board exams.

However, page 132 of this year’s test-paper carried a question paper of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir, Malda, with a question that asks the students to point out ‘Azad Kashmir’ on the map.

Sources in the state government said that a communique from the Union Education Ministry has reached the state secretariat, seeking an explanatory note from the West Bengal education department on this count.

In the communique, it has been stated that the matter of ‘Azad Kashmir’ is an extremely sensitive issue and the Union government does not recognise ‘Pakistan occupied Kashmir’ as ‘Azad Kashmir’.

“The Education Ministry has sought clarification from the state government as to how such a sensitive issue managed to find a place in the test-paper,” said a state education department official, who refused to be named.

Meanwhile, sensing the gravity of the matter, the state education department has already initiated an internal probe into the matter. Sources said that a total of nine teachers have been identified and cautioned in the matter by the WBBSE.

Out of the nine teachers cautioned, six are members of the board’s history syllabus committee.

A letter of caution has also been forwarded to the headmaster of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir, whose question paper carrying the controversial question on ‘Azad Kashmir’ featured in the test-paper.

Five Journalists From Kashmir Resigned Allegedly After Getting Militant Threats

    [ad_1]

Five journalists who were employed by a local newspaper in Kashmir have quit after receiving online threats from militants, according to reports.

Recently, militants published a list of more than a dozen journalists who were reportedly employed by security services, IANS reported.

There were two local newspaper editors among the people on the list. Three of the five journalists who left their jobs on Tuesday posted their resignations on social media.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a militant organisation affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is allegedly responsible for these threats, according to the authorities.

The threats’ contents show what militants and anti-national elements have in mind. By openly accusing them of being corrupt and issuing a clear threat, they have endangered people’s lives, particularly those of media professionals, according to the police.

According to the police, a FIR has been filed in this matter, and over a dozen suspects have been apprehended and are currently undergoing questioning.

As militants threatened to target everyone working for three media outlets in Srinagar, three reporters posted their resignations on their social media profiles to avoid any difficulties.

A young reporter who covered local news claims that he has been charged with spreading the army narrative. He decided to quit his job, reports NDTV.

Such threats, according to the BJP, are unacceptable, and no one should be permitted to threaten journalists.

“Terrorists have touched new lows, which is against people and against the fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression,” NDTV quoted RS Pathania, spokesperson of the BJP.
