  • Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Junior Panchayat Secretaries in Telangana are determined to continue their strike for the regularisation of their services despite the state government’s warning that their services will be terminated if they fail to join duty on Tuesday.

In a notice served to the Junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPSs), Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that they formed a union in violation of their agreement bond and went on strike.

The official said that as per the agreement, JPSs should not join any service union or organisation or association. The employees also declared that they would not have any claim or right to be appointed on a regular basis.

    MS Education Academy

“The regularisation of service of any contract employee cannot be for all, but will be subject to the assessment and evaluation of their performance by a committee appointed by the government and those whose performance is found to be satisfactory can only be regularised,” Sandeep Sultania said.

Stating that JPSs went on strike illegally, Sultania said they lost all rights to continue in the services.

“As a last opportunity, you are directed to join duty by 5 p.m. of Tuesday. If you fail to join duty by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, your services will be terminated,” he added.

However, the JPSs, who are on strike since April 28, said they would continue the strike till the government gives a categorical assurance to them.

There are about 9,500 Junior Panchayat Secretaries in the state. They were recruited through Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on three-year probation and the probation period was further extended by one year.

They are demanding that the state government fulfill the assurance given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the state Assembly that their services will be regularised.

“We want job security. We are not against the government. Our demands are justified,” said a striking JPS.

“Even if the government regularizes our services there will be no financial burden on it. We are receiving Rs 29,000 salary as consolidated pay and after deductions like EPF we will get 26,000,” said another striking employee.

The strike by JPSs is having an adverse impact on various services in villages, causing hardships to people. They play a crucial role in village sanitation, drinking water supply, greenery work, in addition to issuing important certificates such as birth, death, marriage, and residence.

And more than that, now I have this problem that when I am in traffic, then there is so much security, vehicles creating inconvenience to other people. They also give me a look. And my poor fans. There is a serious threat that’s why there is security,” he said.

Salman added, “I am doing whatever I have been told. There is a dialogue ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ ‘they have to be lucky 100 times, I have to be lucky once’. So, I got to be very careful.”

Russia launches biggest ever ‘kamikaze’ drone attack on Ukraine

    [ad_1]

Kiev: Air raid sirens have sounded across Ukraine after Russia launched the biggest ever “kamikaze” drone attack on Kiev since Moscow waged its war in February 2022.

In capital Kiev, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said nearly 60 drones had been launched by Russia on Monday, adding that 36 were destroyed, the BBC reported.

Klitschko added that five people had been injured by falling debris from downed drones.

    MS Education Academy

This was the fourth attack in eight days on Kiev and came just 24 hours before Russia’s Victory Day, which commemorates the erstwhile Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany during World War Two.

Emergency services responded after drone wreckage fell on a runway at Zhuliany international airport — one of the capital city’s two commercial airports, Kiev’s military administration said.

Civilians were injured after drone debris hit a residential building in the central Shevchenkivskyi district, the administration added.

Meanwhile in the Black Sea port city of Odesa, a warehouse was set ablaze after eight missiles were fired at targets by Russian bombers, the BBC quoted Ukrainian officials as saying.

In a statement, Ukraine’s Red Cross said its warehouse with humanitarian aid was destroyed and all aid deliveries had to be suspended.

Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Command, later said a body of a security guardwas pulled from the wreckage.

Missile strikes were also reported in the Kherson, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.

At least eight people, including a child, were injured in two villages in Kherson.

  • UP Shia Waqf Board to launch housing scheme for community

UP Shia Waqf Board to launch housing scheme for community

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board will launch a scheme to provide houses to people from weaker sections of the community on its vacant lands and those freed from encroachment.

The housing scheme will be launched by the board soon, said Ali Zaidi who completed one year as the board’s chairman on Monday.

This is for people from weaker sections within the Shia community, he told PTI and added that under the scheme, the board will provide its vacant land and those freed from encroachment to selected people for constructing a house in a 350 square feet area.

    MS Education Academy

Zaidi said a committee of the board will get the house constructed and its cost will have to be deposited by the allottee in fixed instalments. The board will charge a nominal amount for the maintenance of the house, he said.

The Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board’s chairman said the eligibility criteria under this scheme would be similar to those of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery, he said.

The board aims at providing housing to lower-middle-class people living in rented accommodations and have not yet been able to get a house of their own constructed, Zaidi said.

Besides people getting houses, the income of the Waqf Board will also increase through this scheme, he said.

Zaidi said the scheme will be launched at the Imdad Hussain Karbala in Lucknow. For now, Lucknow, Amroha, Jaunpur, Bijnor and Muzaffarnagar have been selected for this scheme as these places have a large Shia population and Waqf land is in abundance, he said.

He said apart from this, the board is also planning to allot plots in commercial areas.

The board chairman claimed that Waqf properties are “soft targets” for the land mafia and said gangsters like Atiq Ahmad and Mukhtar Ansari had also occupied its properties

Zaidi said in his one-year tenure as chairman, the annual income of the board has increased from Rs 37 lakh to Rs 1.47 crore.
