Shopian Jan 15: A government school teacher died of a massive cardiac arrest at his native village in Durpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Shaban Sofi, a resident of Durpora Zainapora, posted at Primary School Mujmarg, suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his home.
He said Sofi was immediately taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Zainapora where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He has three daughters.

“Coders get notification on their phone and various coders compete against themselves to accept the code proposal and write the coded in fastest possible way” the anonymous person added
The person also revealed that the ChatGPT has hired many academicians who write essays on random topics being given by ChatGPT users. “AI here’s not Artificial Intelligence but Average Indian” says the person.
Indian Government is likely to count these coders and academicians under the jobs provided in its tenure.

A top Islamic scholar and his son are among four persons killed in a tragic road mishap at Chenani area of Udhampur district this morning, officials said.
They told GNS that a Maruti Vehicle bearing registration number JK19 1449, on way from Gool Sangaldan towards Udhampur, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Prem Mandir Chenani, resulting in on spot death of two persons and injuries to several others.
The injured persons were evacuated from the spot for treatment, however two more persons succumbed on way to the hospital, they said.
Among the deceased include chief cleric Jamia Masjid Sangaldan Abdul Hamid (32) and his father, a top Islamic scholar, Mohammad Jamal Din (65).

Two persons from Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir were apprehended by Jammu and Kashmir Police along with heroin-like substances from their possession, police said on Sunday.
According to a statement issued to The News Caravan, police said that a police party of Police Post DH Doda laid a naka on Bharat Road and, while conducting checking and frisking of vehicles and pedestrians, intercepted one vehicle, a WagonR bearing Registration No. JK06A/3499, for checking purposes. On inquiry, the driver disclosed his name as Shadab Ishaq, son of Mohd Ishaq Wani, a resident of Ghat Doda. During his personal search, a heroin-like substance (chitta) was recovered from his possession. Similarly, his associate, who was also travelling in the said wagon-type vehicle, disclosed his name as Farooq Ahmed, son of Mohd Sabar, resident of Sekwan Doda, was also searched, and a heroin-like substance (chitta) was also recovered from his possession.
“Upon this, FIR No. 249/2022 under the relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Doda and the investigation of the case has started,” the statement further reads.
Doda Police is appealing to the general public to extend cooperation to the police and provide inputs or information if any clue of drug smuggling is noticed so that the menace of drugs is eradicated from the society, according to the statement.

A whistleblower who has highlighted absenteeism culture in a government school in the Chatroo area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district is reportedly face pressure through the police.
As per details available with The News Caravan, Burhan Dar, 24, a human rights activist from Kishtwar who is locally known for his social work and highlighting public issues, faces huge harassment after he posted a video story on his Facebook page about a government school in the Pehalgowra hamlet of Chatroo tehsil in Kishtwar district. In the video story, students complain that a female teacher has been absent for the past three to four months, and the school has only two staff members for students at the time when video was created.
Noting the issue Dar was seen in the video saying that he was in the school and reported the matter from there and requested administration to take quick action. The video was uploaded on November 19, and it became viral locally.

In the video, a female teacher who was on duty in the school told Burhan that she had also reported this issue to the education department. “When I complained about this issue with ZEO (Zonal Education Officer), ZEO sir told me that I shouldn’t have to be a leader,” she said. “Whenever we complain to authorities, we are pressured.”
A student in the video can be seen saying a female teacher appears only for some days in a year. When Dar asked staff about the midday meal, a staff member responded and said that the ration is over from some days.
On November 24, Dar was summoned by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Chatroo after his video crossed 100k views on Facebook.

Human rights activists and journalists who are working in Jammu and Kashmir reportedly face harassment, especially in Kashmir, according to various reports. According to Human Rights Watch report, at least 35 journalists in Kashmir have faced police interrogation, raids, threats, physical assault, restrictions on freedom of movement, or fabricated criminal cases for their reporting since August 2019.
In the case of Burhan Dar, who raised local issues, the complainer used the police against Dar, as he was summoned by the police just for posting a video in which he highlighted “absenteeism of the teachers.”
