    SRINAGAR: In a shocking incident, a man tied a dog to his scooty and dragged him on the road. The video of the incident went viral on social media and caught attention of the police, who later arrested the man.

    Srinagar Police in a tweet said,“There is a viral video wherein a bike rider had tied a dog & was dragging this dog. FIR 31/2023 u/s 429 IPC & sec 11 of prevention of cruelty to animals act was registered at Nishat Police station.”

    The accused has been arrested and has been identified as Ab Rashid Dar son of Gh Rasool Dar of Gaw Marg Shalimar. The scooty of the accused has been seized.

  • LeT Militant Associate Arrested Along With Ammunition: Police

    SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant associate of Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit along with ammunition in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

    In a statement , police spokesman said that joint forces of Baramulla Police, Army 29 RR and 2 Bn SSB during naka checking at Singhpora Pattan noticed a person wearing Pheran (Gown) coming from Matipora side. On seeing the naka party he tried to flee from the spot but the alert party chased him and was apprehended tactfully.

    During his personal search, 71 live rounds of AK-47 were recovered, and he was taken into custody immediately, he said.

    During questioning, he revealed his name as Ali Mohammad Bhat S/O Gh Rasool Bhat R/O Bonichakal Arampora Pattan and is working as a militant Associate with banned militant organisation LeT outfit, he said.

    Case under sections of Arms and ULA (P) Act stands registered in Police station Pattan and investigation set into motion, reads the statement.

  • Govt Employee Booked For Hateful Post On Social Media

    SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday said that a government employee was arrested for ‘posting hateful posts and comments’ on his Facebook account.

    In a statement, police said that the employee Amrik Singh, son of late Ranbir Singh, a resident of Beoli Doda, posted as a Class-IV employee in the office of Chief Education officer Doda, was found to have uploaded hateful post/comments on his Facebook account and in consequence of which, there were every apprehension of eruption of law and order problem in the district.

    “Sensing the sensitivity of the matter and to prevent the situation from turning into law and order problem, police arrested the said person and after preparing a detailed report, he was produced before Executive Magistrate Class 1st Doda. He was sent to district jail  Bhaderwah under preventive detention,” police said.

  • Two LeT Militant Associates Arrested In North Kashmir

    SRINAGAR: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

    In a handout, the police said that that Joint forces of Baramulla Police and 176 Bn CRPF on a specific information regarding presence of militants in Village Monchkhud Kunzer launched a  joint CASO in the said village.

    During CASO two suspect persons were apprehended, and they have been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Khan son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and  Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Gh Mohi ud Din Khan both residents of Zandpal Kunzer.

    The spokesperson further stated that two AK 47 Magazines,  15 AK 47 rounds, 20 Blank posters of banned LeT (TRF) were recovered were recovered from their possession.

    During questioning suspects revealed that they are working as militant associates with banned militant outfit LeT (TRF) and were taken into custody immediately, he said.

    It is pertinent to mention here that the militant associate obtained these illegal ammunition with intent to carry out militant activities in Kunzer and adjacent areas, he said.

    Case under sections of Arms and UA (P) Act stands registered in Police station Kunzer and investigation set in motion, the official said. (GNS)

  • Eve Teasing Case: RTO Kashmir Suspends Registration Mark of Two-wheeler

    SRINAGAR: Hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a duo for allegedly stalking and intimidating a girl in Srinagar, Regional Transport Officer has ordered for immediate suspension of the Registration Mark of the two-wheeler used in the commission of the offence.

    As per the order issued by Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, RTO Kashmir “In view of the complaints on social media and other verified reports and also in view of the fact that an FIR number 35/2023, Dated 05-03-2023 under Section 341, 506, 509, 294, 354D of IPC has been registered in the Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar, I am of the considered opinion that Motor Cycle Without Gear (MCWOG) bearing Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 (Owned by Mr. Peerzada Sajad Arif son of Haji Shareef-u-Din, resident of Kwajapora, Srinagar) has been used in commission of the cognizable offence and an act which is likely to cause nuisance and danger to the public and has, therefore, failed to comply with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and the Rules made there under”, reads an order copy.

    “Therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the Registration Mark JK01AG-5814 is, hereby, suspended with immediate effect”, the order further reads.

    The Police in a statement issued earlier, maintained, “On 4-03-2023, a girl was stalked and harassed by two boys, riding a scooty. The boys had made lewd gestures and comments against the girl. The girl had posted about the incident on her social media account and subsequently also approached police post Nehru Park with a written application. On receipt of the complaint, an FIR was lodged under relevant sections of the law in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station against the accused boys.”

    The accused duo was arrested on Sunday and the two-wheeler used by them in the commission of crime also seized by a police team.

    Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Srinagar Dr Aijaz Asad on his official Twitter handle also informed that registration of the two-wheeler has been cancelled.

    Reacting over the incident of eve teasing, he said there is zero tolerance for such unlawful behaviour.

    “The Registration of scooty bearing Mark JK01AG-5814 linked with Eve-teasing case of yesterday in the Dal Gate area is hereby suspended with immediate effect under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Zero tolerance for such unlawful behaviour,” he tweeted. (GNS)

    Five Persons Arrested, Five Lakh Cash, 2.15 Cr Notes Recovered

    SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday arrested five persons from Kashmir Valley and New Delhi along with five lakh Indian currency notes and 2.15 crore “low quality” currency notes near Kargil Colony Bathindi Jammu.

    Quoting an official, GNS reported that the accused were arrested while they were moving in a Vehicle S-Cross (HR26CQ-8653) from Kargil Colony towards Bathindi morh.

    “After proper search of the Vehicle Police Party recovered 05 lac Indian currency notes notes alongwith 03 cheque books and about 02.15 Crore low quality Indian currency notes from their possession,” the officer said.

    In this regard, a case (FIR No 71/2023) under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is going on.

    Those arrested include Nazir Ahmed son of Mohammad Jabbar of Barzulla, Srinagar, Riyaz Ahmed son of Abdul Gani of Sheikhhar, Pulwama, Mohammad Naimullah son of Mohammad Zaheer-ul-Haq of Dwarka, Delhi, Manzoor Ahmed son of Ghulam Mohammad of Nishat, Srinagar and Basit son of Ghulam Hussain of Shopian.
