  • The hypocrisy of nayadaur.tv  and thefridaytimes.com

The hypocrisy of nayadaur.tv  and thefridaytimes.com

Of all the shameless journalists in Pakistan who are toeing the line of the Pakistan Establishment, the worst are those who, while professing and posing to be ‘liberal’ and ‘independent’, like Raza Rumi and his sidekick Mehr Husayn who run the portals nayadaur.tv and thefridaytimes.com, do the same, though in a subtle, deceptive manner, under a figleaf of neutrality, slurring over the truth.

On seeing the articles posted on their websites one finds conspicuously missing accounts of the fascist reign of terror unleashed by the Pakistan Establishment, with over ten thousand people in Pakistan arrested and jailed on false and frivolous charges, many beaten, tortured, killed, or just ‘disappeared’.

One also notes an absence of condemnation of Pakistan’s judiciary which has turned a Nelson’s eye to these horrors, though having taken an oath to protect the people’s rights.

    https://www.hastakshepnews.com/2023/08/murder-of-justice-in-pakistan.html

One particularly notes, and this is the most important, no mention in nayadaur.tv or fridaytimes.com of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is bravely leading the democratic forces in Pakistan even from inside Attock jail, with his spirit unbroken and undaunted by all odds

It seems Mehr Husayn, who runs thefridaytimes.com, only cares for her own comforts, and  the safety and welfare of her sons Zulfiqar and Kassim, rather than the welfare of the people of Pakistan, who can go to hell as far as she was concerned.

I have already written about RazaRumi, who masquerades as a journalist and analyst, but is a downright sycophant.

Raza praised former PM Benazir Bhutto sky high, but I cannot believe that, being a Pakistani, he did not know about her large scale corruption, of which he deliberately made no mention.

    https://www.theweek.in/news/world/2019/12/28/opinion-benazir-bhutto-was-no-saint-or-benevolent-angel.html

He rushed to congratulate Pakistan’s former Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman on being named among the 100 most influential persons of the world in 2023 by Time magazine, though that recognition was really a joke, as in a poor country where food riots have taken place she wears the costliest attire and puts on the costliest cosmetics ( even her lipstick and shampoo are perhaps imported ), which show how much she really cares for the poor and suffering.

Most journalists in Pakistan are sold out, and openly pro-Establishment.

But it is these wolves in sheep clothing, the ‘liberal’ media, like Raza and Mehr, who are the worst, as they have the capacity to deceive, by deliberate omission of the truth, and by diverting attention from the main issues

  • The mob lynching of Charvaka

    The mob lynching of Charvaka

Apart from religious philosophies in ancient India, like Vedanta, there also came into existence a materialist philosophy called lokayat, the philosophy which denied existence of god, soul, angels, spirits, an afterlife, and other supernatural or metaphysical things, and did not accept the authority of the Vedas.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lokayata:_A_Study_in_Ancient_Indian_Materialism

    https://prepp.in/news/e-492-charvaka-school-or-lokayata-philosophy-art-and-culture-notes

At one time the lokayat philosophy was widespread in India, and numerous books written on it.

However, the conservative elements in society ganged up against them, and destroyed all their books, and now we have some idea of the lokayat philosophy only from books like Madhavacharya’s ‘Sarva Darshan Sangrah‘ where the lokayat philosophy has been stated ( only to be attacked ) in the ‘poorvapaksha’ of the book ( see DP Chattopadhyaya’s ‘Lokayat’ ).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lokayata:_A_Study_in_Ancient_Indian_Materialism

The most systematic “lynching” (or mob violence against an individual or individuals) in India, described in the epic ‘Mahabharata’,  was that of India’s materialist philosopher Charvaka, as he was not just killed, but was demonised and his ideas distorted for generations. Charvaka was physically eliminated by a mob of servile brahmins because he could speak logical truth (so much for being called a “sweet talker” – a Charvaka!).

When the celebrations for the Pandavas’ victory in the Mahabharata war and Yudhishthir’s coronation were going on, the brahmins stood silently after paying their obeisance :

     निःशब्दे च स्थिते तत्र ततो विप्रजने पुनः

At this moment Charvaka came forward and started addressing them. He accused Yudhishthir of killing his own relatives and gurus, and thus unfit to live:

    इमे प्राहुर्द्विजाः सर्वे समारोप्य वचो मयि।
    धिग्भवन्तं कुनृपतिं ज्ञातिघातिनमस्तु वै।।
    किं तेन स्याद्धि कौन्तेय कृत्वेमं ज्ञातिसंक्षयम्।
    घातयित्वा गुरूंश्चैव मृतं श्रेयो न जीवितम्।।

His fearless statement stunned everybody. Yudhishthir and the Brahmins were speechless, afraid and ashamed:

    ततस्ते ब्राह्मणाः सर्वे स च राजा युधिष्ठिरः।
    व्रीडिताः परमोद्विग्नस्तूष्णीमासन्विशांपते।।

However, these Brahmins then started accusing Charvaka of being a demon and a friend of Duryodhana, and eventually, they killed him.

Since Yudhishthir was quite grief stricken and devastated at Charvaka’s accusation, a whole section is devoted where Lord Krishna consoles him, while demonizing Charvaka and justifying the act as preordained.

    स एष निहतः शेते ब्रह्मदण्डेन राक्षसः।
    चार्वाको नृपतिश्रेष्ठ मा शुचो भरतर्षभ।।

See Mahabharata (Pancham Khand): Shanti Parva, 38.22-27, 39.2-11, Gita Press

This incident has set a precedent. If you cannot logically refute your opponent’s argument, just call him a demon, burn all his books, and bump him off

  • The DMK has assured BJP victory in 2024

The DMK has assured BJP victory in 2024

I had earlier thought that the BJP will have to somehow whip up communal hatred and instigate communal riots to win the 2024 lok sabha elections.

But now I think that it is unnecessary. The DMK, a coalition partner of the INDIA opposition alliance, has ensured victory for the BJP, without the latter doing anything.

Udayanidhi Stalin, Minister in the ruling DMK state govt in Tamilnadu, and son of the Chief Minister MK Stalin, called Sanatan Dharma ( which most Hindus regard synonymous with Hinduism ) as a disease like dengue, malaria or covid, which must be eradicated, and far from expressing any regret he has repeatedly said that he stands by his statement.

Udayanidhi’s father, Chief Minister MK Stalin, has supported his son

Now, another DMK leader A. Raja, who is a former Union Minister, has gone further, and called Sanatan Dharma a disease like HIV or leprosy.

None of the opposition leaders have condemned this statement, though some have said that they don’t subscribe to it. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has not even commented on it

80% of India’s population is Hindu, and, as already mentioned before, most Hindus equate Sanatan Dharma with Hinduism, and they have been deeply hurt by Udayanidhi’s statement

262 eminent people have written a letter to CJI Chandrachud asking for suo motu action against Udayanidhi

Since the DMK is part of the opposition alliance INDIA, and since the latter have not condemned Udayanidhi’s remark, all hopes of the opposition defeating the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which were already doubtful, have now been dashed and are now buried.

When the opposition has a friend like the DMK, the BJP needs no enemy. Udayanidhi Stalin’s and Raja’s speeches have put a nail in INDIA’s coffin, and sunk the INDIA alliance, like the iceberg which sank the Titanic.

The BJP need to do nothing now to win the coming Lok Sabha elections. The opposition has ensured it.

  • 2024 Elections Loom as Communal Tensions Rise: A Critical Issue Ignored

2024 Elections Loom as Communal Tensions Rise: A Critical Issue Ignored

I have repeatedly said that the test of every state or political activity or system is one, and only one : does it raise the standard of living of the people ? Does it give them better lives ? In other words, does it help in abolishing ( or substantially reducing ) poverty, unemployment, hunger, lack of proper healthcare and good education, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities etc among the masses?

From that perspective let us assess recent developments which have happened, are happening, or will happen in India.

    1. Mumbai Summit of the 28 opposition parties in Mumbai

Assessment : Irrelevant, as it has nothing to do with, and will not in any way improve the lives of the people of India. In other words, it will not in any way help in abolishing ( or substantially reducing ) poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, skyrocketing prices, lack of proper healthcare and good education, etc in India

    2. Tamilnadu Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s statement against Sanatan Dharma, and the letter of 262 persons to the CJI calling for action against him.

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    3. Special session of the Indian Parliament, which will be held from 18th to 22nd September, and is likely to have bills for one nation one vote, women’s reservation of 33% in Parliament, etc

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    4. G-20 summit to be held in Delhi on 9th and 10th September.

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    5. India versus Bharat controversy

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    6. Arguments for 16 days in the Supreme Court in petitions challenging validity of abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    7. Chandraayan landing on the moon

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

    8. 2023 World Cup Cricket matches from 5th October to 19th November

Assessment : Irrelevant, for the same reason

So are there are no relevant issues left in India ( apart from those mentioned in para 1, which are irrelevant in elections ) ?

Yes there is, and it is inflaming communalism and religious polarisation, in view of the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections

  • Gen Munir, the financial wizard

    Gen Munir, the financial wizard

One would have thought that the job of an army chief is to protect his country’s borders, and render assistance to the civilian authorities in cases of internal disturbances when asked by the latter. But it seems that the Pakistan army chief, Gen Munir, has other ideas, and believes he can fix Pakistan’s tumbling economy.

    Gen Munir, the financial wizard.

He recently held several hours long meetings in Karachi and Lahore with over a hundred prominent members of Pakistan’s business community to sort out the country’s economic woes.

Pakistan has a 27% inflation rate, and the prices of food have gone up recently by 40%. The currency has been rapidly depreciating ( presently about Rs 306 vis-a-vis the dollar ). Highly inflated electricity bills have resulted in massive demonstrations and protests all over the country. Traders are on strike.

Pakistan has a civilian government ( though a caretaker one ) and fixing the economy is surely the task of this government. But Gen Munir has now dropped even the fig leaf of civilian rule, and the army has taken full control.

In his meetings with the business leaders Gen Munir has announced a plethora of steps he is going to take viz corruption will be eradicated or largely reduced, 100 billion dollars will be invested in Pakistan by foreign countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, smuggling of Iranian oil checked, forex traders taxed, the ‘grey economy’ curbed, sick government industries privatised, etc

There are several problems with Gen Munir’s plans

Firstly, Pakistan’s present economic crisis was largely due to the misdeeds of these very business leaders whom he met, who along with corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and army generals looted Pakistan for decades. Now all they want is reduction in income and sales taxes, and various other concessions for themselves ( as they told Gen Munir ), and they are least bothered about the public welfare..

Secondly, checking corruption is easier said than done. Much of the corruption is by army officers themselves, as explained below :

So the army has a vested interest in maintaining corruption.

Thirdly, it is presumptuous to believe that anyone will invest money unless he is assured that he will get back the money he invests with a reasonable profit. After all, he is not doling out charity. Gen Munir may give his guarantee in this connection, but what are words when not backed up by deeds ? The past performance of Pakistan has been dismal, with its leaders repeatedly going around with a begging bowl to the IMF, Saudi Arabia, etc.

And lastly, recovery of Pakistan’s economy depends on peace and stability, which is only possible after a free and fair elections.

But Gen Munir, knowing that Imran Khan’s PTI will sweep the polls as he has support of 85% Pakistanis ( as all opinion polls indicate ), is adamant not to hold elections for parliament or the provincial legislatures.

In fact the very purpose of holding meetings with business leaders was to convey the message that first we have to fix Pakistan’s economy, however long it takes, and only thereafter can elections be held ( which is putting the cart before the horse ).

I am afraid Gen Munir has bitten more than he can chew, and is living in la-la land

  • Controversial Remarks by Udayanidhi Stalin Spark Outrage and Political Fallout

Controversial Remarks by Udayanidhi Stalin Spark Outrage and Political Fallout

Udayanidhi Stalin, a Minister in the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, and son of the Chief Minister MK Stalin, in a speech has called Sanatan Dharma as a disease like malaria, dengue, corona, etc, which has to be eradicated. His speech has stoked up a row

Some DMK supporters have said that Udayanidhi meant the caste system which causes social injustice when he referred to Sanatan Dharma

Udayanidhi has clarified subsequently that when he spoke about Sanatan Dharma he was speaking against the caste system which discriminates against lower castes

The fact however remains that most Hindus equate Sanatan Dharma with the Hindu religion, and are deeply offended by the speech

Udayanidhi’s speech has recoiled against the INDIA alliance of opposition parties, many of which have dissociated themselves from the speech

In my opinion there would have been nothing wrong if Udayanidhi had spoken only against the caste system ( to which I too am opposed ) without referring to Sanatan Dharma.

If he had apologised and said that he was only against the caste system the controversy would have come to an end. But perhaps that is too much to expect from a Crown Prince

  • Gyanvapi or Shahi Masjid will be demolished before 2024 elections

Gyanvapi or Shahi Masjid will be demolished before 2024 elections

My dear friend Irfan Ali ( email irfan79@gmail.com ) who lives and works in Princeton, New Jersey, USA has prompted me to write this article. Evidently Irfan was put off by my article that the newly formed alliance of 28 opposition parties called INDIA ( Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance ) is a stunt

In response to my article Irfan wrote angrily on whatsapp :
” It appears that you don’t want an opposition in India? What would take you to support a strong opposition to fight this authoritarian demagogue? Should there be no opposition in India at all ? You seem more into Pakistan politics when your own system is screwed up. INDIA is a combination of 28 parties but NDA has 36. Who is doing a stunt? ”.
    To which I responded :
” I have never said I don’t want an opposition, so don’t twist my words. Of course I want an opposition, but the meaningful opposition can’t be within the system of parliamentary democracy, but can only be by a historical united people’s revolutionary struggle led by modern minded leaders determined to rapidly modernize and industrialise the country. I have explained this in detail in many of articles, which u may see ”.
I had earlier written an article that BJP will win the coming Lok Sabha elections in India in 2024.

Irfan thinks that INDIA can help in ousting BJP from power. I totally disagree.

What I foresee is this : a few months or a few weeks before the 2024 parliamentary elections the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, or the Shahi Masjid in Mathura will be demolished by a huge mob of fanatics ( just as the Babri Masjid was demolished ).

    Gyanvapi and Shahi Masjid

This will generate an emotional wave all over India, on the basis of which BJP will easily win ( never mind how many people will be killed or other ‘collateral damage’ done in the backlash ).
Most Indians are emotional, not rational, and they vote accordingly not on real issues like poverty, unemployment, hunger, lack of healthcare, price rise, etc. For instance, in 1962 the Indian army invaded Goa, and soon thereafter parliamentary elections were held, in which Congress swept the polls, with people in a victory mood. After Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984 parliamentary elections were held, and in the sympathy wave Congress secured a record over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha.

The BJP came to power in 1998 and in 1999 because of the fervour generated by the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation.

On 26th February 2019 the Indian Air Force conducted a ‘surgical strike’ in Balakot in retaliation to the Pulwama attack on 14th February which was attributed to Pakistan trained terrorists. Two months thereafter, and in a martial hysteria ( with the slogan ‘Pakistaniyon ko ghar mein ghus ke maara hai’ ), parliamentary elections were held in India in April-May 2019, in which BJP won with an increased majority.

The Babri Masjid was demolished in December 1992 when Congress was in power in the centre, and despite an undertaking given in the Suprême Court by UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh of the BJP that it would not be demolished.

So undertakings mean nothing, and now both Central & State Governments are of the BJP.
So a huge mob of fanatics will very likely demolish either Varanasi or Mathura mosque, with the police turning a Nelson’s eye.
Then in that emotional surge and communal passions elections will be held.

Hindus ( who are 80% of India’s population ) will be told to celebrate victory over the Muslim devils who broke our temples and committed other atrocities on us, and elections will then be held in this surcharged atmosphere, leading to a BJP victory, and with INDIA going up the chimney..
I am not approving this, but I can foresee this happening.

BJP has been in power since 2014. Will it easily give up power ? No, it will resort to every ‘saam, daam, dand, bhed’ i.e. Machiavellian tactic ( as Congress had earlier done for decades ). All is fair in love and war, as the saying goes, and politics is war.

History shows that the wars for the throne of Delhi have been ruthless, and so will be the 2024 elections.
I am afraid Irfan is living in a dreamworld

  • INDIA is a stunt

    INDIA is a stunt

With parliamentary elections looming in India in 2024, 28 opposition parties have formed an alliance called INDIA i.e. Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. After its earlier meetings in Patna and Bengaluru, the 3rd 2 day meeting of INDIA just concluded in Mumbai, its main achievements being forming a 13 member Coordination Committee and 3 sub committees, and resolving to fight the forthcoming elections together ( but with the caveat ‘as far as possible’ ). However it did not announce any leader of the alliance, or convenor of the Coordination Committee.

I am no supporter of the BJP, but to my mind formation of INDIA is just a stunt, and despite all its efforts the BJP will still get a majority in the coming polls, though maybe with reduced seats, and again come to power.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si50ahsL6xM&pp=ygUXbXVtYmFpIG1lZXRpbmcgb2YgaW5kaWE%3D
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAmb1rBy4a8

The biggest problem for the members of INDIA will be seat sharing. We may consider certain states :

    INDIA IS a stunt.

    1. In UP, the biggest state in India, while the BJP is perceived as the common enemy, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party is pitted against the Congress, both seeking the crucial Muslim vote bank.

    2. In West Bengal, Mamata Banerji would not be willing to give the Congress or CPM more than a token 2 or 3 seats each, because its main rival has become the BJP.

    3. In Maharashtra there will be a tussle between Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Uddhav Thakre’s Shiv Sena for seats.

    4. In Punjab and Delhi the tussle will be between Congress and Aam Admi Party

    5. In Kerala it will be between Congress and the Left.

    6. In Bihar it will be between Lalu Yadav’s RJD and Nitish Kumar’s JDU

A common factor in formation of INDIA is the desire of non BJP parties to woo the Muslim vote bank, which is particularly large and crucial in North India. Muslims regard the BJP as their main enemy, and so welcome any move to oust it from power, like formation of INDIA. Hence parties not attending INDIA meetings become suspect in the eyes of Muslims. This is the reason why Mamata Banerji attended the INDIA meeting, though she does not need any support from Congress or the left parties in West Bengal, and can fight against BJP alone.

The member parties in INDIA have nothing in common except common animosity for the BJP, just like the Janta Party formed in 1977 after the Emergency, whose constituent members had nothing in common except animosity for Indira Gandhi.

Members of INDIA have no idea how to solve India’s massive problems of poverty, unemployment, child malnutrition, lack of proper healthcare and good education, etc. Even if they come to power after winning the  2024 parliamentary elections, there will immediately be a scramble among its members for lucrative portfolios, and thereafter discord and disputes on several matters, leading to its break up, as happened to the Janta Party in 1979..

Apart from the above, as I have repeatedly said, the test of every political activity or political system is one, and only one : does it raise the standard of living of the people ? Does it give them better lives ?

The moment we ask this question we immediately realise that it matters little whether NDA or INDIA is in power. Their difference is like that between Tweedledum and Tweedledee, because in either case massive poverty, unermployment, malnutrition, lack of healthcare etc will continue under their rule..

To get rid of these great evils will require a mighty, historical, united people’s struggle and revolution, not just changes in our present political leaders within the system of parliamentary democracy. I have explained this in detail in the articles below

    https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/satyam-bruyat/a-french-revolution-is-approaching/

  • India and Pakistan are one nation

India and Pakistan are one nation

Many people from both India and Pakistan have asked me how I say that India and Pakistan are really one nation, only temporarily divided by the British swindle called Partition, on the basis of the bogus two nation theory ( that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations ), but are bound to reunite again under a secular government.

I replied that we share the same culture, look like each other, many of us speak the same language Hindustani ( which Indians call Hindi and Pakistanis call Urdu ), and we were one since Mughal times.

No doubt much time has passed since 1947, but West and East Germany were reunited in 1990 after 45 years partition, and North and South Vietnam in 1975 after 30 years partition. So time is immaterial.
