Telangana: Junior colleges to be fined for misleading ads

Hyderabad: In order to rule out misleading ads posted by junior colleges to hike up their admission drive, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) has decided to impose penalties against those who do so.

In addition, those advertisements featuring slogans like ‘guaranteeing success in competitive exams’, including EAMCET, NEET, and IIT- JEE will also be banned.

Speaking to the media at TSBIE office on Tuesday, BIE secretary Navin Mittal informed that the penalties would be in tune with the advertisement cost issued by the management.

“Not just penalties, but the colleges would be made to issue counter advertisements if a misleading advertisement was previously issued,” said Mittal.

Clearing the air that the board was not against the advertisement idea by the institutions, Mittal said that curbing false or misleading ads was essential so that the students and parents don’t get lured into false traps.

Stating that the student rank category should be mentioned in any ad that is published after getting approved, Mittal said, “If a student secures a rank, the educational institutions having the same name should issue advertisements duly specifying the college code but not randomly.”

The secretary of the board also warned that no advertisement should be carried out through hoarding, pamphlets, or wall writings without the approval of the committee formed to scrutinize the advertisements by colleges.

“No college should release advertisements about intermediate courses until the admission schedule was announced by the Board,” asserted Mittal.

Telangana: TSBIE deploys committee to approve ads for junior colleges

Hyderabad: A five-membered committee has been announced by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to look over advertisements proposed by private junior colleges.

The board, on Monday, mandated that those looking forward to advertising their students and publishing any other advertisement must first take the approval of the committee, comprising senior officials from the Intermediate board.

The move has been initiated to rule out the allegations of corporate junior colleges giving out misleading advertisements over the top ranks by students in entrance tests such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG to lure parents and students into their institutions.

Secretary of the board, Navin Mittal has announced that the committee will monitor the culture of advertisements and will also set a code to be followed by the private junior college managements.

Senior officials from the board to join the committee will include the controller of examinations, joint secretaries for exams, administration, and academic and Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Mittal briefed that private college managements must first submit their applications to the committee along with the advertisements to the PRO for approval following which the committee will then scrutinize the content of submitted advertisements, make necessary suggestions (if required), and then approve it for publication.

  • Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

Telangana Junior Panchayat Secretaries to continue strike despite govt’s ultimatum

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Junior Panchayat Secretaries in Telangana are determined to continue their strike for the regularisation of their services despite the state government’s warning that their services will be terminated if they fail to join duty on Tuesday.

In a notice served to the Junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPSs), Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania said that they formed a union in violation of their agreement bond and went on strike.

The official said that as per the agreement, JPSs should not join any service union or organisation or association. The employees also declared that they would not have any claim or right to be appointed on a regular basis.

“The regularisation of service of any contract employee cannot be for all, but will be subject to the assessment and evaluation of their performance by a committee appointed by the government and those whose performance is found to be satisfactory can only be regularised,” Sandeep Sultania said.

Stating that JPSs went on strike illegally, Sultania said they lost all rights to continue in the services.

“As a last opportunity, you are directed to join duty by 5 p.m. of Tuesday. If you fail to join duty by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, your services will be terminated,” he added.

However, the JPSs, who are on strike since April 28, said they would continue the strike till the government gives a categorical assurance to them.

There are about 9,500 Junior Panchayat Secretaries in the state. They were recruited through Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) on three-year probation and the probation period was further extended by one year.

They are demanding that the state government fulfill the assurance given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the state Assembly that their services will be regularised.

“We want job security. We are not against the government. Our demands are justified,” said a striking JPS.

“Even if the government regularizes our services there will be no financial burden on it. We are receiving Rs 29,000 salary as consolidated pay and after deductions like EPF we will get 26,000,” said another striking employee.

The strike by JPSs is having an adverse impact on various services in villages, causing hardships to people. They play a crucial role in village sanitation, drinking water supply, greenery work, in addition to issuing important certificates such as birth, death, marriage, and residence.

Telangana: Last warning given to protesting Junior Panchayat Secretaries

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Principal secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania on Monday cautioned Junior Panchayat Secretaries (JPS), who have formed a union and went on strike since April 28 demanding regularization, to end their protest and rejoin duties. They have been asked to rejoin their work by May 9 5 p.m.

In a press release, Sandeep Kumar said that the union’s protest was a violation of their agreement bond which is signed by all Junior Panchayat Secretaries before joining service.

Kumar said that JPS employees who have signed the agreement had accepted the agreements. “As Junior Secretary, they will not have any claim or right to be appointed on a regular basis and such appointment will be without prejudice to the regular appointments that may be made in future.”

    MS Education Academy

“The regularisation of service of any contract employee can’t be decided for all, however, it will be subject to the assessment and evaluation according to their performance by a committee appointed by the government, only those employees will be regularised whose performance is found satisfactory,” the principal secretary added.

Sandeep Kumar clarified that JPS employees have terminated all their rights to continue in service despite signing an agreement.  He went on to say that the warning issued would be the last chance for the protesting employees, who are on strike, to rejoin their work.

“In case, those who fail to join their duty by 5 pm on May 9th, their services will be terminated permanently,” he added.
