Srinagar, May 07 : An Aged Man was rescued after he allegedly jumped into river Jhelum in a bid to end his life at Sopore Chankan Bridge area in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Sunday
Reports reaching Kashmir Scroll that elderly man was found by locals attempting to jump into river Jhelum at Chankhan bridge in Sopore.
“After noticing the movement as doubtful, locals rushed towards him, however, in the meantime, the man jumped into the river, but was immediately rescued,” reports said.
Meanwhile, officials while confirming the incident said, that the man was rescued and hails from village.
He has been shifted to the SDH hospital for necessary medical treatment, the official said—(KS)

Kerala man jumps to death after reportedly murdering wife in Kuwait

Kuwait: Indian expatriate man from Kerala reportedly jumps to death after killing his wife in the city of Salmiya in Kuwait on Thursday, local media reported.
According to the Arabic daily Al-Rai, 33-year-old Saiju Simon, a native of Poonkavu in Pathanamthitta, killed his 32-year-old wife Jeena and jumped to his death from the roof of his apartment building.
Police said that they found Jeena in a pool of blood and a knife next to her body at the apartment.

Neighbours reportedly said they heard the couple fighting before the incident, adding Simon and Jeena often argued in the past.
The couple were married for a year. It was their second marriage. While Saiju was an ambulance driver in the health department, Jeena was an IT employee at Salmiya Indian Model School, Kuwait.

Man Jumps Into Jhelum, Rescue Operation On

SRINAGAR: On Thursday, an individual from Barthan area reportedly leaped into the Jhelum river near PC Depo Bund Srinagar.
Despite the launch of a search and rescue operation, the man has not been found. According to an official, a team was quickly dispatched to the location after the incident.

Cops Rescue Youth After He Jumps In River

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police personnel on Thursday rescued a youth, who jumped into river Sindh from Wayil bridge in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district in a bid to end his life.
An official said that a youth jumped off the Wayil bridge to end his life, however, alert cops present at the spot rescued him immediately.
He said the youth was given first aid and his condition is stable now. (KNO)

Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar, family’s wealth jumps to over Rs 1413 cr

Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress president D K Shivakumar and his dependents’ wealth grew from Rs 840.08 crore in the 2018 Assembly polls to Rs 1,413.78 crore in 2023 election showing an increase of 68.29 per cent over the last five years.
The Kanakapura MLA, who is contesting again from the same constituency, filed his affidavit on Monday.
According to the affidavit, he has a movable property worth Rs 251.69 crore which includes Rs 6.75 crore from the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF). In all, the family has Rs 273.42 crore worth movable property.

Further, the immovable assets of the former minister is Rs 972.65 crore whereas his family has total immovable assets of Rs 1,140.36 crore.
Back in 2018, Shivakumar and his family’s movable assets were Rs 101.30 crore and immovable property was Rs 738.78 crore.
The Congress leader has 19 cases registered against him including four Income Tax related, two by the Directorate of Enforcement and one Central Bureau of Investigation. All these cases are ongoing.

Telangana: Woman jumps off building after engagement gets cancelled

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old bride-to-be attempted suicide by jumping off a three-storied building in Patencheru Mandal of Medak district. Her condition is said to be critical.
Yamini, a resident of Basthi town got engaged to her cousin 15 days ago. However, an argument occurred between both families after the boy’s side demanded dowry.
The engagement was finally called off. Heartbroken, Yamini attempted off the building.

She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical, doctors say.

Poonch, April 01: A girl died while two others were rescued and hospitalised after they jumped in a river in Poonch district last evening, police said on Saturday.
An official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that three cousin sisters jumped in the river near Sher-i-Kashmir bridge in Poonch yesterday evening.
He said soon after the incident a rescue operation was launched and all three girls were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
However, one of the girls was declared was dead one arrival, while two are undergoing treatment.
Deceased has been identified as Asia Kouser (18) daughter of Mohd Kabir. The other two have been identified as Amreen Kousar (25) daughter of Mohd Bashir and Sonia Kouser (18) daughter of Mohammad Arif.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.

Hyderabad records hottest day of year so far as temperature jumps

Hyderabad: Hyderabad recorded the hottest day of the year so far on Thursday as the maximum temperature soared high. Several other parts of Telangana also witnessed record temperatures yesterday, as per the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) report. The situation is expected to continue for the next few days.
According to the TSDPS report, the temperature in Hyderabad’s Tirumalagiri reached 39.6 degrees Celsius, and Saidabad recorded more than 39 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in the entire Telangana was recorded in Kamareddy’s Bhiknoor. The Mandal’s temperature reached 43.8 degrees Celsius. After Kamareddy, Nirmal recorded the second-highest temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius.
Temperature in Hyderabad to reach 40 degrees Celsius soon
The weather department has issued a forecast that predicts the maximum temperature in the state will be in the range of 37-41 degrees Celsius till April 2. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may be witnessed at isolated places.
In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is expected to be in the range of 35-38 degrees Celsius till April 2, but no rainfall is expected in the next three days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has also forecasted that the temperature in the city is likely to be high till April 3. As per the weather department, the temperature in the city is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius soon.
IMD Hyderabad issued yellow alert for Telangana
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for many districts of Telangana, but no warning has been issued for Hyderabad.
In view of the forecast made by both IMD Hyderabad and TSDPS, residents are advised to take necessary precautions and plan accordingly.
With the summer heat on the rise during the Ramzan, it is essential to drink enough water during sehri. As per various studies, a minimum of 60 ounces or nearly 2 liters of water can help a person keep hydrated for an entire day during the fast.

Apart from it, wearing loose, light-colored cotton clothing can also help in coping with the heat.

Indian jumps to death from high-rise after killing wife, 2 kids in UAE

Dubai: An Indian national jumped to death from the 11th floor of his apartment in Al Buhairah after killing his wife and two children, aged 4 and 8, Sharjah Police said.
Police told Gulf News that they immediately rushed paramedics to the site after they were alerted to the incident at 5.45 pm (local time) on Tuesday.
Investigating officers recovered a note from the man’s body which said that he killed his wife and two children, and asked them to shift their bodies from upstairs.
After the hospital, the bodies were taken to the forensic laboratory for autopsy procedures.
The man succumbed to his injuries.
Police did not reveal any further details saying that an investigation is underway.
The family has been living in the building for the past six months.
According to estimates, close to 3,860,000 Indian expatriates are living in the UAE, which makes up for over 38 percent of the total population of the Emirates.
