    CEO Anantnag warns private schools over collecting capitation fee, donation from parents

    *Directs all schools to have common curriculum from class 6th onwards as per NEP*

    Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNO): Chief Education Officer Anantnag has warned private schools of the district not to charge donation and capitation fee from parents at the time of admission after several complaints from parents.

    According to a circular issued by CEO Anantnag, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the office has also received complaints that private schools have kept text books available at particular bookshops in violation of the norms.

     

    “It has come to the notice of this office that some private schools of the district instead of implementing government orders and circulars issued from time to time with regard to fee structures, common curricular and other activities have framed their own bylaws, contradicting government orders and circulars,” the circular reads.

    CEO has also directed all recognised private schools to implement orders and circulars of the government issued from time to time and act accordingly.

    “No private school shall charge any kind of capitation, admission fee or donation as per government order and Right to Education Act 2009,” it reads.

    It also states no private school is allowed to sell any kind of books to students through their tuck shops.

    CEO Anantnag has further stated there should be common curriculum in schools for the upcoming academic session from class 6th onwards as per the New Education Policy 2020.

    “The instructions are to be adhered in letter and spirit and if any school is found making violation of Government orders or circulars, action as warranted under rules shall be initiated against the erring school,” the circular reads.

    It reads the schools will face de-recognition in case they are found violating the government orders. “The action against erring schools may include their cancellation of recognition and registration without any further notice.”—(KNO)

    Says Haj 2023 to be cheaper, more safe, more facilities in place

    Srinagar, Mar 10  In a significant decision, Haj Committee of India (HCoI) Friday announced to extend the date of Haj forms till March 20.

    Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), HCoI member Er Aijaz Hussain said that the date of filling the forms of Haj 2023 has been extended upto March 20. “Haj aspirants can fill the forms till March 20. Haj forms are available on the Website of HCoI,” Er Aijaz said.

     

    This year, Er Aijaz said that Haj has been made cheaper by Rs 80,000 while as better facilities have been ensured for the pilgrims at Makkah and Madina. This year, 25 embankment points have been set up across the country to facilitate pilgrims. Er Aijaz said that over 10,000 pilgrims will perform Haj from JK UT while as one lakh Indian pilgrims are expected to leave for Haj 2023—(KNO)

    DA to central employees may increase soon. There was a demand to increase it for a long time. Now it is believed that the announcement to increase it can be made soon. Actually it is being said that the cabinet has taken a decision on this issue, now it is yet to be announced. According to media reports, PM Modi can announce this on March 15.

    Actually, the government increases the dearness allowance ie DA of central employees twice a year. To deal with inflation, the government has to revise the dearness allowance from time to time. DA is increased in the first month of the year i.e. January and July. This year’s dearness allowance was to increase in January, but it has not been announced yet, in such a situation it is believed that it can be announced soon.

    Announcement can be done by March 15

    According to media reports, on March 1, a decision has been taken by the cabinet to increase the DA of these employees. Now it is yet to be approved by the government. It is believed that the government can announce this on 15 March. If this happens, then crores of central employees will be able to get the increased amount of DA by adding them from January.

    90,720 rupees will increase like this

    Usually the amount of DA is increased twice a year. Earlier, the government had increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 4 percent. If the DA is increased this time also by 4 percent, then the dearness allowance of these employees will increase from 38 to 42 percent. The existing amount will increase from Rs.6840 to Rs.7560. In this context, 7560×12 = 90,720 rupees will increase. That is, there will be an increase of about 90 thousand rupees in the annual salary of every employee. If this happens, money will come in the account of about 1 crore employees, along with it, the amount of arrears can also be given by adding it from January.

    Srinagar, Mar 9 (GNS): Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain on Thursday said the department is fully prepared for starting of new academic session on the culmination of ongoing exams.

    Talking to mediapersons, on the sidelines of a function here, Tassaduq Hussain said that the new academic activities will be started soon after the culmination of annual ongoing examination as we have already set a timeline in our sight.

    “The ground staff is all set with all necessary modalities”, he said.

    Asked about the charging of annual fee by private institutions, Hussain said people need to report it to us and we will accordingly initiate action. “From wherever we will receive any written complaint about any private institution charging annual fee, we will definitely act tough against such institutions”, he said.

    The Director also clarified that as of now there is no coaching centre from Srinagar registered with the them (DSEK).

    “We have not registered any coaching centre here in Srinagar neither have we fixed any fee”, he said adding the coaching centres are being run arbitrarily and the owners also charging fee on their own. (GNS)
