JD(U) backs Satyapal Malik after CBI serves him notice in insurance case

Patna: After CBI served a notice to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik in the Reliance insurance scam case, JD(U) president Lalan Singh on Saturday came out in his support and called the Centre a “coward”.

Those questioning the Centre are being targetted, he added.

In a Twitter post, Singh said: “Malik Saheb is fighting but the ‘cowards’ are using government power to target their opponents. They do not know that the people of the country are watching them. There was an apprehension of action being taken against you on a day when you have disclosed the fact (Related to the Pulwama incident).”

“Sarfaroshi ki tamannah ab hamare dil me hai, dekhna hai zor kitna baju-e-katil meine hai,” he said.

Targetting the Centre, the Congress has also uploaded a tweet. It said, “Finally, PM Modi was not able to restrain. Satyapal Malik exposed him in front of entire countrymen, so CBI called him. It was expected.”

Earlier, the former governor claimed that the CBI had asked him to appear before it at his convenience on April 27 or 28. The CBI wants some clarification on the corruption cases.

Malik served as governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 23, 2018, to October 30, 2019.

AIMIM is B-team of BJP: JD-U

    [ad_1]

Patna: JD-U has said that the AIMIM and its leaders are “B-team” of the BJP who give statements to “polarise” voters.

The remarks came from JD-U official spokesperson Abhishek Jha soon after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for wearing Pathan suit, shawl and caps during the Iftar party at Rabri Devi’s residence on Sunday.

“Our government is taking action against those involved in communal violences in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif. The Bihar police is not distinguishing between Hindus and Muslims. If someone is accused of communal violence, he is being penalised. We are not looking at favouring any particular community. Anyone involved in communal riots is an enemy of society. The Bihar government has zero tolerance on corruption and we cannot look at a person or society through the spectacles of religion,” Jha said.

“As far as Owaisi is concerned, he gives statements to polarise voters in favour of BJP. He is a B-team of BJP and his statement is extremely unfortunate. Through his statement, he proved that he is making a statement to polarise voters of a particular community. Spreading poison in the society is his priority,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Owaisi while referring to communal violence in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif claimed that Nitish Kumar government is taking one sided action against youths of Muslim community and arresting them.

“Following the communal violence in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif, instead of sending the rioters of Hindu community into jail, the Nitish-Tejashwi government is sending the people of Muslim community to jail. The Bihar police is taking harsh action against Muslim youths and the secular chief minister and deputy chief minister are busy in fancy dress competition,” Owaisi said in a tweet.

Nitish Kumar went to Rabri Devi’s residence on Sunday to attend the Iftar party. On the occasion, Tejashwi Yadav was wearing a Pathan suit and Nitish Kumar was also wearing a shawl and cap.

JD-U comes up with posters featuring Red Fort to hit back at BJP

    [ad_1]

Patna: The Muslim holy month of Ramzan is noted for being politically significant in Bihar. It was in the Ramzan last year when the screenplay of the second Mahagathbandhan government was scripted when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar went to RJD leader Rabri Devi’s residence for the Iftar party and the government was finally changed in the months of August.

Now, JD-U MLC Khalid Anwar invited Nitish Kumar as a chief guest in the Iftar party in his official residence in Phulwarisharif in Patna and in the background of the stage was the Red Fort, while the caption read: “People of Bihar are along with you. The country is waiting for you, Ramzan Mubarak.”

With this, the JD-U has given a message that Nitish Kumar is eyeing hoisting the national flag next year from the Red Fort.

    MS Education Academy

Earlier in the day, Anwar had placed the posters of Nitish Kumar with the background of the Red Fort in the streets of Patna.

Nitish Kumar himself has denied several times in the past that he had no wish of becoming the Prime Minister. Even Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav claimed in the Assembly that neither does he have a wish to become Chief Minister of Bihar nor does Nitish Kumar have a wish to become the Prime Minister.

However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during the Nawada rally on Sunday, claimed that Nitish Kumar’s wish to become Prime Minister would not be fulfilled as there is no vacancy for the post. The Red Fort poster could the JD-U’s riposte to the BJP and Amit Shah.

Bihar JD-U MLA finds CHC staff drying wheat on hospital beds

    [ad_1]

Patna: JDU MLA from Valmiki Nagar of Bihar’s Pashchim Champaran district, Dhirendra Pratap Singh alias Rinku Singh, exposed the “mismanagement” at a Community Health Centre (CHC) in his constituency.

The MLA went to the CHC in Thakahara village on a surprise inspection and found that wheat is being dried on hospital bed. Further, the legislator found that the operation theatre at the CHC is being used as store room and the medicines were thrown in dustbins.

“It was absolutely shocking that hospital employees were using beds to dry wheat. Dirt and dust are piled up in the male and female wards. The medicines are thrown in the dustbins and an operation theatre is being used as a store room,” Singh said.

“When we checked the roster of the hospital, several doctors and nurses were found absent… There was a complete mismanagement in the CHC, which is not tolerable. I will meet the district magistrate and civil surgeon, and will complain about it,” he said.

  • BJP spread rumours about attacks on Bihari migrants in Tamil Nadu: JD(U)

BJP spread rumours about attacks on Bihari migrants in Tamil Nadu: JD(U)

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Thursday charged the BJP with spreading “rumours” of attacks on migrant workers in Tamil Nadu with an eye on “electoral gains”.

JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan also said that though his party did not favour criticising the country on foreign soil, it felt that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was well within his rights to express his anxieties about “threats to democracy in India” during his Cambridge tour.

“It has turned out that nothing had happened in Tamil Nadu. And just look at the people who have been booked and arrested for spreading rumours”, said the JD(U) chief, referring to cases being lodged against a number of BJP leaders by the DMK government in the southern state.

“So, this is the character of the BJP. Rumour-mongering, and coercion of parties opposed to it, all for electoral gains. But it is making a mistake. People of the country are now conscious enough to see through their designs”, said the JD(U) president, whose party snapped ties with the saffron party less than a year ago.

Asked about the controversy triggered by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks abroad, Lalan, whose party is now aligned with the Congress, said “we believe the problems in the country are best discussed on the home soil, which offers a very large stage. We do not think one’s own country should be criticised on foreign soil”,

The JD(U) national president, however, hastened to add “we also hold that Rahul Gandhi is well within his rights to express his anxieties about the threats to democracy in India. And the threats are, indeed, real. This is a fact borne out by the Supreme Court’s recent judgement on the appointment of Election Commissioners”.

He also sought to make light of speculations that Chirag Paswan, a known detractor of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Upendra Kushwaha, who recently rebelled against the JD(U) supreme leader and quit the party, were likely to join the BJP-led NDA.

“Just recall the 2015 assembly polls when these people were very much with the BJP. They performed dismally”, Lalan said referring to the high-decibel elections which saw the NDA being trounced by the Mahagathbandhan'(Grand Alliance) that had come into being with Nitish Kumar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and the Congress joining hands.

He also said that the BJP’s jod tod’ (attempts to split other parties) was at work in Nagaland where the lone JD(U) MLA ended up offering support to the newly formed government of which the saffron party was a part.

“Since we hold that we can have no relationship with the BJP, we held the Nagaland unit guilty of gross indiscipline and decided to dissolve it. The BJP had earlier broken away our MLAs in Arunachal, too. In Bihar, they wanted to do to us what they had succeeded in doing in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. But we got wind of their plans in time”, alleged Lalan, referring to last year’s upheaval.

“The BJP has no scruples. Its sole concern is power. Just look at Meghalaya where they had been accusing the government of being the most corrupt. Now the same dispensation has returned to power and the BJP’s top leaders flew down to attend the oath-taking ceremony”, said the JD(U) chief.

“The BJP has had no achievement to showcase despite having been in power at the Centre for so many years. Everywhere it keeps talking about the Ujjwala Yojana, which has been a failure as expensive gas cylinders make it impossible for beneficiaries to go in for a refill. Another scheme they rave about is the Ayushman Bharat. They should release data of how many people have benefited from the promise of Rs five lakh health insurance cover”, demanded the JD(U) president.

The BJP is also trying to shy away from the demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into allegations against the Adani group which is being accused of the biggest corporate fraud in history, the JD(U) chief said.

“On the other hand, it keeps harassing its opponents through vindictive use of agencies like CBI, ED and Income Tax department”, he alleged.

  • Nitish Kumar appeals to Rajput community to unite in favour of JD-U

Nitish Kumar appeals to Rajput community to unite in favour of JD-U

    [ad_1]

Patna: Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday appealed to the people of Rajput community to become united in favour of his JD-U.

He made the appeal at an event titled ‘Swabhiman Diwas’, organised on the death anniversary of Maharana Pratap, by his party at the Milar high school ground here. The upper caste Rajputs are considered core voters of the BJP and Nitish Kumar is seeking to make inroads in the community. He is also challenging ally RJD which is claiming to be “A to Z” party, rather than just depending on its core Muslim and Yadav supporters.

The JD-U has welcomed the guests in a grand style offering chicken and rice apart from other foods for them.

During the occasion, over 50,000 people of the Rajput community assembled at the place from across the state. During the occasion, they demanded the release of Bahubali leader Anand Mohan who is serving a life term in Saharsa jail for murder of then Gopalganj DM G. Krishnayya.

Reacting to the demand, Nitish Kumar, from the stage, informed them that he has been making an effort in this regard and Anand Mohan’s wife Lovely Anand is well aware of this. He asked them to contact her about it.

“We are giving respect to the people of the Rajput community since Samata Party. We have sent many Rajput leaders to Vidhan Parishad and Rajya Sabha apart from giving tickets for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. We have recently established the statue of Maharana Pratap in the heart of the city,” Nitish Kumar said.

Besides Nitish Kumar, every JD-U leader including Lalan Singh, Vashistha Narayan Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, Sanjay Jha, Sumit Singh, Lesi Singh, Neeraj Kumar and many other leaders were present in the event.

The event was organised by JD-U MLC Sanjay Singh, who demanded a film city in the name of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Bihar and a medical college in the name of Maharana Pratap.

  • BJP leaders up in arms at former JD-U MLC’s ‘Karbala’ remarks

BJP leaders up in arms at former JD-U MLC’s ‘Karbala’ remarks

    [ad_1]

Patna: In wake of the “Karbala” remarks made by former JD-U MLC Gulam Rasool Balyawi, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, terming him responsible for insulting the Hindu community.

“Due to the support of Nitish Kumar, his ministers and leaders are abusing and insulting the people of Hindu community. He is a helpless Chief Minister of Bihar. They cannot test our tolerance level. The people of the Hindu community are not wearing bangles,” he said while visiting Muzaffarpur district.

“One of Nitish Kumar’s cabinet ministers made remarks against the ‘Ram Charit Manas’ and other leaders are threatening to make cities of the country like Karbala. Bihar is going under the worst phase under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar,” he added.

BJP Rajya Sabha member and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said: “Nitish Kumar should take cognisance of statements on ‘Ram Charit Manas’ and Karbala. JD-U and RJD are competing with each other to spread resentment in the country. The Chief Minister has lost control over the leaders who are making objectionable remarks.” said Sushil Kumar Modi, Rajya Sabha MP of BJP.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Samrat Chaudhary said: “I don’t know what is the religion of that leader and I am not interested in knowing him but I must say that we will not allow any city to become Karbala in the country. It is not possible until BJP is here. BJP believes in respecting every caste and religion and we cannot make statements one-sided. We have strong objections over the statement of the JD-U leader and we demand action against him.”

Even the RJD leaders are criticizing the statement of Balyawi.

Party spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari said: “The statement of the JD-U leader was not right. The JD-U is a part of Mahagathbandhan and it is capable of taking action against him. The RJD respects every caste and religion.”

Balyawi, during a rally in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh on Thursday, targeted sacked BJP leader Nupur Sharma, over her controversial comments over the Prophet, saying that if anyone belittled him, “we will make cities of the country like Karbala”.

Earlier, Bihar Education Minister Chandra Shekhar Yadav, of the RJD, had termed ‘Ram Charit Manas’ as one of the books that spread hatred in the society.
