Uorfi Javed issues clarification on her ‘go to hell’ remark against Ranbir Kapoor

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Uorfi Javed and controversies go hand-in-hand. She recently made headlines for saying “go to hell” to actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The whole incident spiralled after Ranbir expressed his views on Urfi Javed’s fashion statement while speaking to Kareena Kapoor Khan on her show ‘What Women Want’ last month.

On the show, Ranbir said he did not like Uorfi’s fashion choice, terming it as “bad taste”. On the other hand, Kareena in one of the interviews heaped praises on Uorfi’s fashion sense.

Uorfi recently spoke to Humans of Bombay, wherein she opened up on Kareena hailing her confidence.

“I was blown away, I couldn’t believe it at first. I thought she might have said something bad and these people are joking with me that she has said something good. But then I saw the video and that day I felt that I have achieved something in life. Kareena Kapoor complimented me, I was like I have achieved a lot,” she said.

She also “sarcastically” took a dig at Ranbir.

“Kareena Kapoor ne meri tareef ki hai! Kareena Kapoor ne! Woh jo gum tha ki Ranbir Kapoor ne bola ‘bad taste,’ maine bola ‘bhaad main jaaye Ranbir Kapoor (I was upset about Ranbir’s comment, but then after Kareena’s compliment, I was like ‘Ranbir can go to hell’). Kareena Kapoor ne meri tarif kar di hai fir kya hai Ranbir ki aukat (Kareena has praised me, I don’t need anyone’s validation or anything)” she added.

However, Uorfi’s remarks on Ranbir did not go down well with his fans. A section of social media users slammed Urfi over the “go to hell” comment.

On Monday, Uorfi took to Instagram Story and shared a string of posts, explaining that she was being sarcastic and didn’t mean that Ranbir Kapoor should literally “go to hell” for his earlier remark on her style being in “bad taste”.

“I never said go to hell Ranbir. I mean… I said it in a very sarcastic and humorous way with no disrespect meant to anyone. And bhaad is not equal to hell,” Uorfi said in a video clip.

In another video, Uorfi Javed said, “Mera sarcasm kisi din mujhe pitwaygi… (laughs)… in short meinkisi din pit jaungi yaar, ya toh mere kapdo ke wajah se ya toh mere baaton ke wajah se (I will be beaten someday either because of my words or outfits.).”

Uorfi rose to fame after featuring in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ in 2021.

  • Uddhav’s mouthpiece calls Javed Akhtar ‘true patriot’ for taking potshots at Pakistan

Uddhav’s mouthpiece calls Javed Akhtar ‘true patriot’ for taking potshots at Pakistan

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: ‘Saamna’, the official newspaper of Uddhav Thackeray faction on Thursday appreciated Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar for showing the mirror to Pakistan during the ‘Faiz’ festival in Lahore as he slammed the country for 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Saamna’s editorial stated, “A Muslim writer-poet did what PM Modi and his blind devotees could not do to Pakistan. Senior poet-lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar was invited to Lahore’s celebration on poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s commemoration day.”

The publication hailed Javed Akhtar’s guts to accuse Pakistan in Lahore and slammed the Modi-led central government for only indulging in narratives and wrote, ” It is not easy to go to Pakistan and utter such strong words’ as Akhtar did. It is easy to threaten Pakistan by sitting here in Delhi and Mumbai. A roar of “Ghuskar Marenge” by doing a ‘surgical strike’ during elections is common but saying the enemy,’ You are the enemy of our country on their face is not easy. Only a true patriot can do this.”

Saamna in its latest editorial further took on Bharatiya Janata Party for having different definitions for nationalism and treason as “for them who do not follow them (the party) or are not ready to be their slaves are termed traitors in their eyes. According to BJP, one who is not a Modi devotee does not belong to be in the country”.

“On the occasion, Akhtar said, “The mastermind of the 26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai is still roaming freely in Pakistan. We are Mumbaikars. We have seen the attack on our city. The attackers didn’t come from Norway or Egypt, they came from your country. If Indian people have a complaint about this, then the people of Pakistan should not consider it an insult,” the editorial read further.

“Akhtar also said, ‘I wouldn’t hesitate to say that though we have organised so many grand functions of Nusrat (Fateh Ali Khan) sahab and Mehdi Hassan sahab in our country, you couldn’t organise a single event of Lata (Mangeshkar) ji,” Akhtar said. The audience also gave a loud round of applause to Javed Akhtar. The courage of the audience who supported Akhtar must also be appreciated. Akhtar has set an ‘example’ of patriotism and courage in front of the country,” the letter reads further.

Meanwhile, questioning India’s leaders Saamna said, “The special thing about Pakistani’s audience and their rulers is that they tolerated these statements on their land, but is there so much tolerance and restraint left in our country today?”

Attacking on BJP, Saamna wrote, “BJP’s leaders and ministers openly say ‘we eat beef’, and burn innocent Muslim youths in the name of cow protection. They create Hindu-Muslim, and India-Pakistan tussle to win elections.”

“Pakistan is the enemy of the country, and so is China, but Modi only stands against Pakistan and is afraid of China. Modi government’s courage against China is only limited to the banning of some Chinese ‘apps’. These people create a raging atmosphere against the common Muslims of Pakistan and India for political benefits,” the editorial added.

“There was a time when the Tricolour was unfurled in Lahore as well and now Mr Javed Akhtar hoisted it again on the occasion of the memorial ceremony of poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz in Lahore,” the editorial stated.

“Javed Akhtar showed what a 56-inch chest is. Special congratulations to him!” the letter added.

  • Lahore: 26/11 attackers still free in Pakistan, says Javed Akhtar

Lahore: 26/11 attackers still free in Pakistan, says Javed Akhtar

    [ad_1]

Lahore: The perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks did not come from Norway or Egypt but are still roaming freely in Pakistan and Pakistanis should not feel offended when India talks about the 2008 carnage, lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar has said.

Akhtar made the comments on Sunday while attending the seventh Faiz Festival organised here in memory of celebrated Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

Responding to a member in the audience who told Akhtar to take with him a message of peace and tell Indians that Pakistan is “a positive, friendly and loving country”, the 78-year-old writer said: “We should not blame each other. It will solve nothing. The atmosphere is tense, that should be doused.”

“We are people from Mumbai, we have seen the attack on our city. They (attackers) did not come from Norway or Egypt. They are still roaming freely in your country. So if there is a grievance in the heart of a Hindustani, you should not feel offended,” Akhtar said at the festival which concluded on Sunday.

On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists belonging to Hafiz Saeed-led Lashkar-e-Taiba arrived via sea and opened fire, killing 166 people, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others during a 60-hour siege in Mumbai.

The attacks drew widespread global condemnation. Nine Pakistani terrorists were killed by the Indian security forces. Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist who was captured alive. He was hanged four years later on November 21, 2012.

India has repeatedly said that the key conspirators and planners of the 26/11 attacks continue to remain protected and unpunished.

“The key conspirators and the planners of 26/11 terror attacks continue to remain protected and unpunished,” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said during the wreath-laying ceremony to pay tributes to the victims of the 26/11 attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel last year.

Akhtar also told the gathering that even though Pakistani artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hasan have been warmly welcomed in India, Pakistan has never held a single show of Lata Mangeshkar.

“We hosted big functions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hasan. You (Pakistan) never organised a function for Lata Mangeshkar,” the poet can be heard in a video of the event, drawing loud cheers and applause from the audience.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Kangana Renaut praised Akhtar for his candid remarks about the 26/11 terror attacks, tweeting: ‘Ghar mein ghuss ke maara’ (He hit them in their own land).
