Farooq Resigns As NC President; New Party Prez Polls To Be Held On December 5

    [ad_1]

Dr. Farooq Abdullah has resigned as the party’s president, and elections are due to take place next month, thus the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference will soon have a new president.

Omar Abdullah, a former chief minister and vice president of the party, is most likely to succeed as president. The election scheduled on December 5 will, however, determine that.

Tanvir Sadiq, the chief spokesman for the party, was quoted by Excelsior as saying that Abdullah has resigned as NC president and that elections would take place on December 5. The mausoleum of the party’s founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, at Hazratbal, would host the polls, he claimed, and a notice to that effect will be issued soon.

Prior to this announcement, Abdullah made it known that he would be stepping down as party leader at a meeting of the In-charge Segments, district presidents, and other provincial office bearers held at the party headquarters in Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. But he will stay in office until the elections are held.

Dr. Abdullah announced his choice and urged the party leaders to take control of the party in an emotional speech at the party headquarters while crying. He said that his health no longer allowed him to lead the party.

In the discussion, Abdullah urged the party’s officials to grow the organisation and connect with voters in their various districts.
The current state of the Valley and party issues were discussed at the conference. The party officials also gave the party president an update on the ongoing party events in their respective sectors.

Abdullah outlined the difficulties that the populace was experiencing and urged them to collaborate closely with locals.
“Our ground force must serve as a link between the government and the populace. We must prioritise the needs of the general populace in addition to our just and peaceful campaign for the restoration of our rights. To ease people’s difficulties, you must provide excellent service, he stated.

The constituency in-charges were instructed by the senior party officials to be prepared for elections whenever they take place. They said that because the NC had already passed a resolution to this effect, there would be no pre-poll alliance.
They said that the PAGD would continue to function as a forum and that each party would run its own campaign. “It serves a greater cause. It is a platform for the defence of Article 370 and Statehood, not for any pre-election coalition, they said.

Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the party, also spoke to the crowd. He also emphasised the need for party building.
Ali Muhammad Sagar, the party’s general secretary, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, senior leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Mubarak Gul, Shameema Firdous, Nazir Gurezi, and Muhammad Syed Akhoon, Zonal Presidents Ali Muhammad Dar and Javed Dar, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, district presidents, constituency in-charges, and other provincial office holders were also present.

After A Missile Strike On A Road In Ukraine, A Massive Explosion Recorded On Camera

    [ad_1]

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published terrifying visuals of a missile hit on a road in Dnipro from the perspective of a vehicle on Thursday. This occurs on the same day as a Ukrainian surface-to-air missile above Kyiv successfully shot down a Russian Kalibr cruise missile.

The sound of the missile hit cuts through the music being played inside the car in dashcam video of a car travelling down a road. The automobile and those nearby start racing to escape the wall of flames and smoke that the missile strike has left behind

“The city of Dnipro. Ukraine. Today. XXI century. Terrorists are still not being punished. We will carry out justice. We will protect the international order,” Ukraine’s Defence Ministry captioned the video.

Russian forces attacked Dnipro today, injuring 14 people, including a 15-year-old girl, according to Ukraine’s first deputy foreign minister Emine Dzheppar, who also released the footage.

“A fragment of Russian missile stuck in the body of women in Dnipro, following Russia’s attack this morning. Doctors make everything possible to save her life. In total, in Dnipro 14 people were injured, including 15 years old girl,” she wrote.

Today, new Russian strikes were reported around Ukraine, the most recent in a string of assaults that have devastated the nation’s energy infrastructure as winter sets in and the temperatures plummet.

The regional administration of Kyiv said that two cruise missiles were shot down over the city today, though details on any injuries or property damage are still sketchy.

  • 72 Nations To Participate “No Money For Terror” Conference Hosted In India From 18th November

72 Nations To Participate “No Money For Terror” Conference Hosted In India From 18th November

    [ad_1]

In a two-day “No Money For Terror” event beginning Friday, India will utilise its security lens to show how it has been a victim of terror and the issues it has faced for decades.

This conference will be attended by representatives from 72 nations. Pakistan and Afghanistan have not been invited, but China has been invited.

“We have invited China,” Sanjay Verma, Secretary of the External Affairs Ministry. However, China’s approval is still pending.

“In all, 88 organisations are participating,” he said, according to NDTV, “including 15 multilateral organisations such as the FATF and Interpol.”

The ‘No Money for Terror’ conference will bring together approximately 200 representatives from anti-terrorism organisations from 75 countries, as per News18.

After two back-to-back conferences – Interpol and the UN Counter-Terrorism Conference – in Mumbai, this is the third in a series of conferences.

The ministry went on to say that because India has been subjected to various types of terrorism and its financing for more than three decades, it understands the anguish and grief suffered by other countries. In order to demonstrate solidarity with peace-loving nations and to help build a bridge for long-term cooperation on counter-terrorism financing, India hosted two global events in October: the annual General Assembly of Interpol in Delhi and a special session of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee in Mumbai and Delhi.

The conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and participants will debate topics related to terrorism and terror finance.

The two-day conference will have four sessions, each chaired by a minister.

“Issues like cryptocurrency and crowdfunding are going to be discussed at length,” a senior official said, according to NDTV.

He stated that terrorism’s financial backbone must be broken.

“The funding of terrorist activities often requires funds to be moved within or across jurisdictions. This might be done through official channels of the financial system remittances, or through unregulated channels or use of cash couriers. The informal system remains a preferred channel for terrorist groups because of cost effectiveness, efficiency (speed of transfer), reliability, lack of customer identification checks, lack of transaction records and tax evasion,” he added.

“Misuse of social media for crowdfunding is common and there is consensus building among countries that it needs to be paid attention,” National Investigation Agecy chief Dinkar Gupta said.

Security services have provided comprehensive examples of how terror groups around the world are engaging in sectarian conflicts, which are increasingly predicated on ethnic-nationalist and sectarian lines.

“A substantial number of terrorist attacks continue to be perpetrated by local actors against local targets (state machinery) aimed at achieving local objectives, while certain global terrorist organisations have made a noticeable effort to perpetrate transnational attacks in the South Asian region,” a senior officer said.

India’s Exports Fell 17% To $29.78 Bn In Oct, Trade Deficit Widens To $26.91 Bn

    [ad_1]

India’s exports fell 17% to $29.78 billion in October, while its trade deficit increased to $26.91 billion.

According to data released by the commerce ministry on Tuesday, the country’s overall outbound shipments decreased by 16.65% to $29.78 billion in October as a result of a decline in some sectors’ merchandise exports, and the merchandise trade deficit increased to $26.91 billion from $25.71 billion the previous month, news agency PTI reported.

The report showed that imports for the month totaled $56.69 billion, compared to $53.64 billion in October 2021.

This year, from April to October, exports increased by 12.55 percent to $263.35 billion. Data show that imports increased 33.12% to $436.81 billion.

Between September 2022 and October 2022, both merchandise exports and imports slowed sequentially, which, in our opinion, was caused by more holidays associated with the holiday season.

In spite of the significant YoY decrease in the merchandise exports statistic, the trade deficit worsened in MoM terms during this time, albeit not alarmingly, according to ICRA Chief Economist Aditi Nayar who was quoted by Livemint.

When compared to November 2021, which had a later start to the holiday season, the sequential trend of exports in October 2022 is similar to what was observed in November 2021.

Given the current global demand issues, Nayar continued, “At this point, we anticipate some recovery in exports and imports in November 2022 relative to October 2022, albeit it may not be as substantial as the pattern seen in November and December of 2021.

  • Kathua Rape Accused To Be Tried As ‘Adult’, Not ‘Juvenile’: Supreme Court

Kathua Rape Accused To Be Tried As ‘Adult’, Not ‘Juvenile’: Supreme Court

    [ad_1]

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that one of the accused in the gang-rape and murder trial of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Kathua was not a juvenile and can now be prosecuted again as an adult.

The top court further stated that in the absence of statutory proof on the same problem, medical opinions on an accused person’s age cannot be “swept aside”, news agency PTI reported.

“Medical opinion regarding age in absence of any other conclusive evidence should be considered to determine the age range of the accused…Whether medical evidence can be relied upon or not depends on the value of evidence,” a bench of justices Ajay Rastogi and JB Pardiwala said.

It reversed the rulings of the high court and the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kathua, which had determined that the accused was a minor and needed to be tried separately.

“We set aside the judgments of the CJM Kathua and the high court and hold that the accused was not a juvenile at the time of commission of offence,” Justice Pardiwala said while pronouncing the verdict.

The girl was raped in a Kathua village in 2019. Three men were given life sentences in this case by a special court in June 2019, and three police officers received five-year sentences for evidence destruction. However, the Juvenile Justice Board was given the case against one of the accused.

  • What India requires is a modern minded dictatorship.

What India requires is a modern minded dictatorship.

    What is to be done

    By Justice Katju

What India requires is a modern minded dictatorship determined to rapidly industrialise and modernise the country, e.g. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk who rapidly modernised Turkey in the 1920s, or the advisers of Emperor Meiji who rapidly modernised Japan after the Meiji Restoration of 1868.

    Ataturk1930s
    Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

They did not do this democratically. The majority have reactionary, backward feudal mindsets and do not want modernisation. If their consent is sought, they will oppose it tooth and nail, and there will never be any modernisation, and the country will remain backward and feudal.

In India, we adopted the system of parliamentary democracy. But this runs largely on the basis of caste and religion vote banks. Casteism and communalism are feudal forces, which have to be destroyed if India is to progress, but parliamentary democracy further entrenches them. So it has to be replaced by a system under which the country rapidly moves forward.

What will this alternative system be is a matter which requires seriously consideration by the patriotic modern minded thinkers in the country

Five Journalists From Kashmir Resigned Allegedly After Getting Militant Threats

    [ad_1]

Five journalists who were employed by a local newspaper in Kashmir have quit after receiving online threats from militants, according to reports.

Recently, militants published a list of more than a dozen journalists who were reportedly employed by security services, IANS reported.

There were two local newspaper editors among the people on the list. Three of the five journalists who left their jobs on Tuesday posted their resignations on social media.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a militant organisation affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is allegedly responsible for these threats, according to the authorities.

The threats’ contents show what militants and anti-national elements have in mind. By openly accusing them of being corrupt and issuing a clear threat, they have endangered people’s lives, particularly those of media professionals, according to the police.

According to the police, a FIR has been filed in this matter, and over a dozen suspects have been apprehended and are currently undergoing questioning.

As militants threatened to target everyone working for three media outlets in Srinagar, three reporters posted their resignations on their social media profiles to avoid any difficulties.

A young reporter who covered local news claims that he has been charged with spreading the army narrative. He decided to quit his job, reports NDTV.

Such threats, according to the BJP, are unacceptable, and no one should be permitted to threaten journalists.

“Terrorists have touched new lows, which is against people and against the fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression,” NDTV quoted RS Pathania, spokesperson of the BJP.
