  • I have not issued any statement about moonsighting: Grand Mufti of Kashmir

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Apr 19: A video is viral on social media wherein the Grand Mufti of Kashmir Nasir-ul-Islam is stating that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.

To confirm the authenticity of the video, news agency Kashmir News Trust talked to Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam who said there is no statement from his side as far as the celebration of Eid on Saturday is concerned.

“How can I make a statement before a day when no attempt of moon sighting took place,” he said.

“The video that is viral is actually a pre-recorded one and is meant for the Door Darshan. It’s been a practice that DD records my two statements beforehand and airs one of them as per the situation,” he said adding that there were over 10 people in the room and somebody recorded his statement on his cell phone and made it viral.

“It was an attempt to create confusion and I reiterate that I have not issued any statement about moonsighting,” he said. [KNT]

Hate speeches: 8 BJP functionaries issued notices by Chhattisgarh police

    [ad_1]

Raipur: Eight Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries were issued notices by Chhattisgarh police on Friday for allegedly posting content on social media that spreads hate, an official said.

They have been asked to appear before police and present factual statements related to such posts, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal said.

The eight comprise BJP spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava, IT cell in charge of BJP Chhattisgarh’s Twitter handle Sunil Pillai, treasurer Nandan Jain, BJP trade cell president Kedarnath Gupta, BJP Yuva Morcha Mandal president Yogi Sahu, divisional Yuva Morcha coordinator Kamal Sharma, DD Nagar BJP Yuva Morcha member Shubhankar and party worker Bittu Panigrahi.

    MS Education Academy

The Congress had, on April 12, filed a complaint with Raipur police claiming such posts were spreading hate.

As per the police notice, these posts by BJP members allegedly used derogatory terms for Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in connection with the communal violence in Biranpur in the state’s Bemetara district.

The notice was based on a Supreme Court order dated October 21 last year directing action against hate speeches, police said.

After a fight among schoolchildren, violence rocked Biranpur village, some 100 kilometres from state capital Raipur on April 8, leading to the death of 22-year-old Bhuneshwar Sahu and injuries to three policemen.

Two houses were burnt during the statewide ‘bandh’ (shutdown) called by right-wing organisations on April 10, while the bodies of villagers Rahim Mohammad and his son Idul Mohammad were found with multiple injuries at a murum mine on April 11.

New guidelines issued for Umrah pilgrims safety in last 10 days of Ramzan

    [ad_1]

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of the Interior has issued updated guidelines for the safety and security of pilgrims and worshippers in Makkah and Madinah during the last ten days of Ramzan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has strengthened its preparations and increased security, health, emergency and volunteering efforts to provide services that help pilgrims easily perform their rituals during the holy month.

    Here are the guidelines

    • Pilgrims can use public buses from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, or buses from the car park in Makkah Al-Mukarramah to reach the Grand Mosque.
    • Pilgrims can also use taxis, as well as trains from Al Haramain Station from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Al Rusaifa Station in Makkah Al Mukarramah.
    • Pilgrims can walk if they live in the central area or next to the Grand Mosque, or they can take a private car which must be driven by non-Umrah pilgrims.
    • Non-Umrah pilgrims are allowed to stay in the parking lot located at the beginning of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. Pilgrims can use public transportation to reach the Grand Mosque.
    • The General Syndicate of Cars also provides a free public transportation service at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to transport Umrah pilgrims to Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
    • Inside the Grand Mosque, pilgrims must abide by the instructions set by the security services.
    • The green light on the main gates means that pilgrims can enter through that gate as there is room for pilgrims to pray, but a red light indicates the entry is denied due to all sites being full.
    • Collecting donations is prohibited in the Grand Mosque, adding that pilgrims are not allowed to smoke, beg, or engage in commercial activities such as buying and selling.

  • Invites issued for King Charles’ coronation on May 6

Invites issued for King Charles’ coronation on May 6

    [ad_1]

London: Invites for the May 6 coronation of the UK’s King Charles III have been issued by the Buckingham Palace.

Along with the ornately illustrated invitation from “King Charles III and Queen Camilla”, a new photograph of the royals which was taken last month in the Blue Drawing Room at the Buckingham Palace was also released on Tuesday.

The invite, printed on recycled paper, shows the coronation will mark a change in how Camilla is titled — from Queen Consort to Queen.

    MS Education Academy

In a statement, the Palace said the invitation will be issued in due course to over 2,000 guests who will form the congregation in Westminster Abbey.

At the coronation service, Camilla will be crowned alongside the King, 18 years after the couple married.

The invitation has been designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator whose work is inspired by the chivalric themes of Arthurian legend.

The original artwork for the invitation was hand-painted in watercolour and gouache, and the design will be reproduced and printed on recycled card, with gold foil detailing.

Central to the design is the motif of the Green Man, an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolic of spring and rebirth, to celebrate the new reign.

The shape of the Green Man, crowned in natural foliage, is formed of leaves of oak, ivy and hawthorn, and the emblematic flowers of the UK.

The British wildflower meadow bordering the invitation features lily of the valley, cornflowers, wild strawberries, dog roses, bluebells, and a sprig of rosemary for remembrance, together with wildlife including a bee, a butterfly, a ladybird, a wren and a robin.

Flowers appear in groupings of three, signifying The King becoming the third monarch of his name, said the statement.

A lion, unicorn and a boar — taken from the coats of arms of the Monarch — can be seen amongst the flowers.
