  • Congress won’t raise Savarkar issue due to MVA allies’ differing views: Prithviraj

Congress won’t raise Savarkar issue due to MVA allies’ differing views: Prithviraj

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Veteran Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has said that his party has agreed not to raise the issue of V D Savarkar since the three Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners hold different views on the late Hindutva ideologue.

He made the statement in an interview to PTI days after former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray gave a warning to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a public meeting last month, saying that the “insult” of Savarkar will not be tolerated. In his speech, Thackeray said he considered Savarkar as his “idol” and hence Gandhi should refrain from insulting him.

Gandhi has often accused Savarkar of “apologising” to the British to get out of jail, and has routinely shot back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demands for an apology by claiming he was a Gandhi and not Savarkar to seek mercy.

Replying to a query on the issue, Chavan said the Congress has agreed not to raise the issue of Savarkar as there were divergent views on him among the MVA allies. The MVA comprises the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.

“Let the people decide about the truth of the freedom struggle. There is nothing to be apologetic about. We agreed to disagree and agreed not to raise the issue since our partners hold different views on Savarkar,” the former chief minister said.

On being asked if the Savarkar issue had been put to rest by the Congress after it was given on platter to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chavan said his party did not provide any issue on platter to the saffron party.

The BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, which are currently in power in Maharashtra, on Sunday started taking out Savarkar Gaurav Yatras in each district of the state to honour Savarkar’s contribution to the country and to counter Rahul Gandhi’s criticism against him.

  • Pawar favours SC-appointed panel over JPC for probe into Adani issue

Pawar favours SC-appointed panel over JPC for probe into Adani issue

    [ad_1]

Nagpur: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday put his weight behind the Supreme Court constituted 6-member committee, appointed by the Chief Justice of India to probe the alleged stock manipulation issue by the Adani Group, saying it would be more effective than the Joint Parliamentary Committee, (JPC) demanded by the Congress-led Opposition.

Justifying his stand, Pawar said: “It is a common sense that the JPC will have more members from the ruling party (BJP) since it has an overwhelming majority in Parliament. Hence, in terms of effect, the JPC would not be a balanced panel as against the Supreme Court appointed committee which has independent experts.”

On the controversy around Veer Savarkar, he said “at this juncture, it is not a national issue”.

    MS Education Academy

“Moreover, late Savarkar was more science-oriented with progressive thoughts. He built a temple in which he appointed a Dalit as a priest in Ratnagiri,” he said, adding Savarkar also had a scientific stance on the cow slaughter issue.

Refusing to comment on clashes that took place at Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) in Maharashtra on the occasion of Ram Navami, he said “it would not be proper to debate on the matter, and now, the priority should be to establish normalcy there”.

Asked about the possibility of simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha along with the Maharashtra Assembly in 2024, the former Union Minister said “there was no basis for such speculations”.

On the Opposition unity, he said that all non-BJP parties held a meeting recently and are likely to meet soon to speed up a joint alliance against the ruling BJP for the next general elections.

Pawar said another meeting is being convened within the next 10 to 12 days as per the convenience of other political parties to chalk out a strategy for the 2024 elections.

Is Samantha suffering from another serious health issue?

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the stunning actress who has won many hearts with her flawless acting abilities, has recently made headlines for her role in the upcoming series Citadel India. However, the actress has now revealed that she had another health problem while filming the project.

Samantha opened up about her health setback in a recent interview, stating that she had another problem while filming Citadel India. “I had a concussion on sets. I forgot everyone’s name for good two-three hours. To Raj, I was like, ‘Wait let me check my phone, what is his name?’ I hadn’t had a concussion before, I didn’t know how it felt, but I went back and shot after a few hours,” Samantha told Miss Malini.

Despite the fact that she did not reveal the specifics of her health issue, her fans are concerned for her well-being and wish her a speedy recovery.

In her interview with Bollywood Bubble, Samantha opened up on her struggle with the autoimmune disease myositis. She spoke about how she had lost control over how she looked during the course of the diagnosis of her disease.

Sam said, “One day I am puffy, one day I am fat, one day I am sick. I have no control over how I look. As an actor, your eyes are a medium to express emotions and every day, I wake up with pins and needles in my eyes. I am sensitive to light. I don’t wear glasses just for fun and style, the light actually affects my eyes. I have an intense migraine, and I have intense pain in my eyes, they swell from the pain and this has been the case for the past 8 months. This is probably the worst thing to happen to an actor.”

Despite her health issues, Samantha has poured her heart and soul into the series, which promises to be action-packed and fascinating. She has been seen in high-octane action sequences and has even been injured on set. The show’s creators have gone to great lengths to ensure Samantha delivers a memorable performance, even hiring a Hollywood action director to train her in martial arts.

Apart from Citadel, Samantha has two other exciting projects in the works Shaakuntalam, a mythological film starring Dev Mohan, and Kushi, starring Vijay Deverakonda. Her fans are excited about the release of these projects and are praying for her quick recovery from her recent health issue.

  • ‘Rahul’s LS disqualification will be a key issue in 2024 polls’

‘Rahul’s LS disqualification will be a key issue in 2024 polls’

    [ad_1]

Bhopal: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday said former INC president Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha will be one of the key issues to corner the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Chavan said this here while addressing a press conference on the recent political developments following the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lower House of Parliament.

“The matter will not end… and the Congress will take this issue to the people during the general elections,” he said.

Notably, the All India Congress Committee on Wednesday organised as many as 35 press conferences in all states and major cities.

The former Maharashtra Chief Minister said Rahul Gandhi was targeted for questioning the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and business tycoon Gautam Adani.

“If Rahul Gandhi raised questions and demanded an investigation into the Adani group, did he do anything wrong? The entire episode is happening at the behest of PM Modi. Even BJP leaders accept that wrong things are happening… but they are unable to express their thoughts openly,” Chavan said.

The senior Congress leader also asserted that Rahul Gandhi is likely to face more attacks from the BJP in coming days.

Chavan said that “first, the BJP got Rahul Gandhi disqualified and to justify its decision, the party has created a false impression that Rahul Gandhi has insulted the OBC community with his Modi surname comments”.

“The defamation case in which Rahul Gandhi was convicted was closed. The complainant had himself written to the district court to put a stay on his complaint in a Surat court. However, the case was reopened with the permission of Gujarat High Court just nine days after Rahul Gandhi exposed PM Modi,” Chavan claimed.

Meanwhile, the Congress’ Madhya Pradesh unit criticised Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for “suddenly” calling a press conference at 3 a.m. — the same time when Chavan’s interaction with the media was scheduled to begin.

State Congress’ media head K.K. Mishra said: “CM Chouhan should respect the protocol of a former chief minister who is also from another state. What CM Chouhan did today, proved that there is no respect for Constitutional values. We condemn his act of calling a press conference at the time when a former CM was already scheduled to address the press. The Congress will also write a letter to him on this matter.”

Adani issue: Sebi chief declines to comment, says matter sub-judice

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Sebi Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch on Wednesday said the regulator will not comment on the Adani issue and that the matter is sub-judice.

In the wake of a report by the New York based short-seller Hindenburg Research on the Adani group in January, there was a steep fall in the shares of the ten listed Adani group companies and some of them lost over 85 per cent of their market value.

The allegations made by the short seller were rejected by the Adani group.

On March 2, the Supreme Court set up a six-member expert committee to look into the Adani matter.

The apex court also directed the markets regulator to investigate whether there was violation of Sebi rules and any manipulation of stock prices as alleged by the brokerage.

“We never comment on entity-specific matters as a policy, and on top of that, the matter is before the Supreme Court. We never comment on sub-judice matters,” said Buch addressing the media after a board meeting of Sebi.

“We will follow the advice of the apex court. We are duty-bound to follow whatever the highest court of the land has said,” she added.

It was Buch’s first press conference after the Hindenburg Research report on the Adani group.

Further, she said the apex court has also instructed the regulator to precisely give the update to the committee and it will be inappropriate to comment on the matter.

The group has rejected the allegations made by Hindenburg Research.

  • Conman Issue: Govt Orders Inquiry Into Visits Of ‘Shri Kiran Patel’ To Kashmir

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Mar 29: The Government on Wednesday ordered a time-bound inquiry into the various aspects related to the visits of “Shri Kiran Patel” who conned the security establishment in Jammu and Kashmir into believing him to be a PMO official and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time prior to his arrest earlier this month.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, as Inquiry Officer to inquire into the various aspects related to the visits of Shri Kiran Patel to Kashmir during the past months and security arrangements made thereof,” reads an order by J&K’s Home Department. “The Inquiry Officer shall identify the lapses on the part of the Officers/ Officials concerned and submit a detailed report within one week,” the order, a copy of which lies with GNS, reads.

Patel was on his third visit to the Kashmir Valley when he was nabbed by security officials from a five-star hotel in Nishat area of Srinagar on March 2.

As per the police report, Patel has prima facie forged and manufactured some documents including some visiting cards on the basis of which he has defrauded not only a single or group of person but “extremely elevated class of the society including high officials of the civil administration and police authorities.” At the end of the day, the police said, Patel succeeded in getting Z Category Security, bullet proof vehicle and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time.

“The documents, visiting cards and cell phone of the accused person have been sent for FSL examination, on the basis of which alleged Crime has been commuted, however the FSL examination report has not been received by the investigating agency,” the police had said in a report to court.

The police further said that investigation conducted so far has suggested that the accused has visited most “sensitive locations and areas of Kashmir Valley” which are highly protected and extremely sensitive as far as present security scenario of Kashmir is concerned. Hence, the police said, this aspect of the matter has necessarily to be probed thoroughly by the investigating machinery as to how and with what motive and object the accused visited these locations and areas.

“There is enough material available on the file, suggestive of the fact that while meeting different and variety of people and conducting meeting with highly elevated officials of civil administration and police the accused may have received hefty amount for different purpose which areas seem not to have been investigated so far,” the police had said, adding, “further no recoveries have been made by the investigating agency so far, hence a detailed and thorough investigating is also required to be conducted as far as this area of the matter is concerned.”

Furthermore, the police had said, the meticulous and careful perusal of case diary file and material available on record reflects that during this all period some more persons have remained closely connected with the accused person whose nexus with the accused person requires proper investigation. 5.

As far as “sophisticated and well planned criminal activities of the accused (Patel) are concerned”, the police said, a well knit network of the accused cannot be ruled out in terms of investigation so far conducted.

“More surprisingly the accused has posed to be Additional Director (Strategy and Campaign) PMO, New Delhi which in normal course has not to be taken lightly. Hence again a thorough investigation is required to be conducted as to what could be the other possible connection of the accused which can be checked, scanned and controlled at the initial stage, so that an ugly situation is not again erupted,” the police had said.

  • Uttar Pradesh forest officials soften stand on Arif-sarus issue

Uttar Pradesh forest officials soften stand on Arif-sarus issue

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: After serving a legal notice to Mohd Arif for ‘violating the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 (amended)’ by keeping a sarus with him for a year, senior forest officials in Uttar Pradesh seem to be having second thoughts on the issue.

Authorities have summoned Arif, who looked after the bird for a year, to explain his side at the office of the assistant conservator of forest in Gauriganj (Amethi) on April 2.

A senior forest official said, “The gesture of rescuing the bird will be considered while evaluating the merits of the case.

“Arif saved the life of the sarus. This gesture matters a lot even when he has been serviced notice that seeks explanation from him.”

According to the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 (amended), one cannot keep any wild animals with them.

“Arif rescued the sarus and treated it too. His only mistake is that he did not inform the forest staff. Whether one finds an injured human or a wild animal, you must report to the authorities,” said the official.

He further explained, “Birds contract diseases if they live with humans. In 15 days, an observation will be made to check if the bird is sick or ready to fly free. If all goes well, the bird will be set free in a sanctuary so that it could mate and live in its natural habitat.”

Meanwhile, D.N. Singh, divisional forest officer Amethi, said, “We have not broken the friendship between Arif and the bird. Sarus live in pairs but this one was alone and therefore, it is our responsibility to place the bird in its natural habitat so that it could lead a normal life.”

Arif told reporters that he never confined the bird.

“I found the bird injured and hence, gave it treatment and food. After the treatment, it kept coming back to me but I never kept it as a pet. It roamed freely for the entire day in the fields. Is it my mistake if the bird came to me for its food?” said Arif.

Arif found the injured bird in February 2022. He helped the sarus recover and soon, they developed a rare camaraderie.

Last month, the videos of the bird and Arif went viral on social media platforms.
