    Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win of the season, beating Punjab Kings by eight wickets in their IPL match here on Sunday.

    Chasing 144 to win, Rahul Tripathi smashed a 48-ball 74 not out while adding a match-winning unbeaten 100 off 52 balls with skipper Aiden Markram (37 not out) for the third wicket, as SRH romped home with 17 balls to spare.

    Earlier, skipper Shikhar Dhawan slammed an unbeaten 99 off 66 balls to singlehandedly take Punjab Kings to 143 for nine.

    Dhawan played a lone hand, hitting 12 fours and five sixes, while Sam Curran (22) was the other batter to reach double digit, as other PBKS batters cut a sorry figure after being asked to take first strike.

    Mayank Markande (4/15) scalped four wickets, while the pace duo of Marco Jansen (2/16) and Umran Malik (2/32) took two wickets each.

    Punjab Kings: 143 for 9 in 20 overs (S Dhawan 99 not out; M Markande 4/15).

    Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field first against Punjab Kings in Match 14 of India Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday.

    Sunrisers have made two changes in their squad with Heinrich Klaassen and Mayank Markande coming into the playing XI.

    “We’ll bowl first. We are happy to chase. Looks like a good surface. Hopefully, we can bowl well upfront. To the eye, it looks a lot better. The atmosphere has been pretty calm, you can’t fix anything in a day technically. Hopefully, we can get our first win. Two new caps are Klaasen and Mayank Markande, excited for them,” said SRH skipper Aiden Markram at the toss.

    Punjab Kings made one change, Matt Short coming in for Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

    “We wanted to bat first. We’d like to put a big total. We have a good team environment. We have a good mix of experience and youth,” said PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan.

    Metro rails to run till 2 am on new year's eve

    Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail services have been extended today for the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. The match will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. As many fans are expected to attend the match, Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities have decided to increase the frequency of trains.

    To ensure that fans reach the stadium on time, the authorities have decided to increase the number of trains running two hours before the match.

    After the match, the last train will depart from Stadium station at 12.30 am.

    It is important to note that beyond the scheduled hours, entry will be allowed at Stadium station only. At other stations, only exits will be available.

    Kolkata: Bollywood and cricket make the perfect match. The IPL 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday saw superstar Shah Rukh Khan casting a spell over cricketers and spectators at the stadium.

    After KKR registered a remarkable win against the RCB, the team’s co-owner SRK entered the ground and met all the players. He also interacted with former RCB skipper Virat Kohli.

    Several images and videos from the Thursday’s evening fixture went viral. In one of the clips, SRK is seen getting excited at spotting Kohli. He went over to him and gave him a tight hug.

    Shah came to the venue with his daughter Suhana Khan and Sanjay Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor. The team’s co-owner and actor Juhi Chawla also cheered the boys in purple and gold on during their big win over the RCB.

    Speaking to ANI, Juhi expressed happiness over the win.

    “I’m very happy with our team’s performance. I just hope and pray that all our matches end like this. Every seat at Eden Gardens was occupied. Let’s make the finals this year, let’s be champions,” she added.

    KKR ended their innings at 204/7 in 20 overs, with Umesh Yadav (6) and Sunil Narine (0) unbeaten. RCB’s death bowling was a culprit as the side gave away 57 runs in the final four overs. RCB failed to chase the target. RCB were bundled out for 123.

    New Delhi: Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first against Delhi Capitals in Match Seven of IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
