  • Delivery Boy Steals 10 iPhones By Replacing Them With Dummies – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

A delivery executive of an e-commerce firm allegedly stole 10 iPhones by replacing them with dummy phones on the way to deliver them to the customer here, police said on Thursday.

Station in-charge of Matrix Finance Solution, which delivers Amazon’s parcel, Ravi in his complaint alleged that on March 27 delivery executive Lalit was handed over a customer’s parcel, which contained 10 iPhones and an AirPods, at his address, they said.

However, instead of delivering the parcel, Lalit replaced the iPhones with replicas and sent his brother Manoj to deposit them back to the company claiming that the customer could not be contacted, Ravi said in his complaint.

Suspecting some tampering with the packaging, the parcel was opened and the delivery company found the fake phones inside, police said.

Meanwhile, upon not receiving his parcel, the customer also cancelled his order, they said.

An FIR has been registered against Lalit under sections 420 (cheating), 408 (criminal breach of trust by employee) of the Indian Penal Code at Bilaspur police station on Wednesday, they said.

Efforts are on to nab the accused who is absconding, they said.

  • Truecaller Live Caller ID now available for premium subscribers on iPhones

Truecaller Live Caller ID now available for premium subscribers on iPhones

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Leading caller identification app Truecaller on Wednesday said its Live Caller ID is now available for premium subscribers on iPhones globally, including in India, for the first time.

The service uses a simple Siri shortcut on the iPhone to tell the user who is calling.

“We are witnessing strong adoption on iPhones and we are constantly innovating within the platform. Our team applied a lot of creativity to build this Siri powered Live Caller ID experience,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director, India at Truecaller.

    MS Education Academy

To set up this feature, a user needs to go to the Premium tab within the app and click on ‘Add to Siri’.

After this, whenever you get an incoming call, simply say ‘Hey Siri, search Truecaller’ and it will instantly tell you who is calling.

The app will then quickly capture the number, find out more information about the caller, and present it on top of the calling screen.

“This new feature is available to premium subscribers of Truecaller on devices with iOS 16 and newer. It leverages Siri Shortcuts and App Intents to deliver fast and accurate results within seconds,” said the company.

Live Caller ID with Siri searches the entire Truecaller database, thereby providing the same quality of information as Truecaller on Android, it added.

Truecaller has also enhanced its spam detection capabilities to better identify and protect users from spam calls.

Premium subscribers will receive automatic updates to the spam list, while free users can manually update the spam list to ensure best safe and efficient communication.

The update also allows users to view and add comments on spam marked numbers.

“Now, incoming SMS messages will be automatically categorised into Finance, Orders, Reminders, Coupons, Offers and Junk. This feature is now live for iOS 16 and newer in India, South Africa and Nigeria and will soon be rolled out to other countries,” said the company.

Truecaller has over 338 million active users globally, with more than a billion downloads since launch.

Qualcomm expects Apple may use its own 5G modems in iPhones

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Chip maker Qualcomm CEO said that it is expecting that Apple may move into making in-house 5G modem chips for its 2024 iPhones, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona.

Although Apple’s most recent iPhone 14 models use Qualcomm modems, the company has been attempting to go it solo in the wireless connectivity market for several years, reports CNBC.

“We’re making no plans for 2024, my planning assumption is we’re not providing (Apple) a modem in ’24, but it’s their decision to make,” Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, was quoted as saying.

The report said that the tech giant bought Intel’s modem business in 2019, and there had been speculation it would begin using in-house parts this year.

Amon said that Qualcomm had told investors back in 2021 that it did not expect to provide modems for the iPhone in 2023, but Apple then decided to continue for another year.

However, he did not confirm whether Apple would pay Qualcomm QTL licenses if it moves to its own modems, but said royalty was “independent from providing a chip”, the report mentioned.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm has announced that its Snapdragon satellite technology is coming to most Android smartphones.

The company said that the “Snapdragon Satellite” will be used in the upcoming smartphones from Honor, Motorola, Nothing, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
