Telangana govt to introduce Ward Administration System in Hyderabad

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will introduce a ward administration system to facilitate people to approach their ward offices instead of the circle or zonal offices to get their work done, lodge complaints or give suggestions to the government.

Discussing the plan, the Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao in a review meeting on Wednesday said that the decentralised system would take administration closer to people.

The government plans to set up ward offices in all 150 wards of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and assign about 10 officers to each of these offices.

An official of the assistant municipal commissioner rank will be in charge of the ward governance system and officials from wings for sanitation, power supply, roads maintenance, entomology, veterinary services, town planning and water will work with the official.

“They will also receive complaints from people and resolve them,” said a press note.

Stressing that the new system will aid the government in learning about and quickly resolving people’s problems, KTR said the latest step would further the chief minister’s vision of decentralised governance.

The minister directed officials to set up the new system by the end of May and prepare teams to be assigned to ward offices and train them in the system’s objectives and functions to make them uniform and citizen-friendly.

KTR further sought the use of technology and social media to ensure better communication between all these ward offices.

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The government will introduce new technologies including GPS-based toll collection systems in the next 6 months to replace existing highway toll plazas in the country, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday.

The move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and charging motorists for the exact distance travelled on the highways, Gadkari said.

Addressing an event organised by industry body CII, Gadkari further said state- owned NHAI’s toll revenue is currently Rs 40,000 crore and it is going to soar to Rs 1.40 lakh crore 2-3 years.

“The government is looking at new technologies including GPS-based toll systems to replace toll plazas in the country…We will bring new technology in six months,” he said.

The ministry of road transport and highways is conducting a pilot project of an automatic number plate recognition system (automatic number plate reader cameras) to enable automated toll collection without stopping the vehicles.

During 2018-19, the average waiting time for vehicles at toll plaza was 8 minutes. With the introduction of FASTags during 2020-21 and 2021-22, the average waiting time of the vehicles has come down to 47 seconds.

Although there is considerable improvement in waiting time at certain locations, especially near cities, the densely populated towns there are still some delays at toll plazas during peak hours.

The road transport and highways minister emphasised on the need of reducing the cost of construction without compromising with the quality.

  • Apple may introduce high-end iPhone ‘Ultra’ in 2024

Apple may introduce high-end iPhone ‘Ultra’ in 2024

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Apple is considering launching a high-end iPhone “Ultra” above its Pro and Pro Max models, which could arrive by 2024 alongside the iPhone 16 lineup.

According to Apple tracker Mark Gurman, the tech giant’s plan to differentiate the Pro and Pro Max has fueled speculation of launching a high-end brand — the Ultra.

During Apple’s earnings call last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook did not rule out the possibility of a future price increase on iPhones.

Instead, he suggested that customers might be willing to pay more for a higher-quality product.

“The iPhone has become so integral into people’s lives,” Cook was quoted as saying.

“I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in that category,” he added.

Moreover, Gurman stated that it is unclear how the top-of-the-line model will differ, but it will most likely include additional camera improvements, a faster chip, and possibly an even larger display.

There also may be more future-forward features, such as finally dropping the charging port, he added.

Meanwhile, Apple will reportedly launch a new ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ with a larger 2.1-inch display next year.

The new wearable is expected to become the first Apple Watch with over a 50mm case size.

The new Ultra is also likely to feature microLED display technology, which will offer higher brightness, decreased power consumption and improved contrast ratio as compared to the current models with OLED displays.
