    Amaravati: Nine students in Andhra Pradesh have ended their lives after failing to clear intermediate examinations.

    The results of intermediate first year and second year (Class 11 and 12) were declared on Wednesday.

    Nine students have died by suicide in separate incidents since Thursday. Two other students attempted suicide.

    B. Tarun (17) killed himself by jumping in front of a running train near Tekkali in Srikakulam district. The student of intermediate first year hailing from Dandu Gopalapuram village of the district was disheartened over failure in most of the papers.

    A 16-year-old girl hanged herself at a residence at Trinadhapuram under Malkapuram police station limits of Visakhapatnam district. A. Akhilasree was upset after failing in some subjects of intermediate first year.

    B. Jagadeesh (18) ended his life by hanging at his residence at Kancharapalem locality in Visakhapatnam. He had failed in one of the subjects in intermediate second year.

    Depressed over failure in one subject in intermediate first year examination, Anusha (17) killed herself by jumping into a lake in Chittoor district.

    Babu (17), also of Chittor district, killed himself by consuming pesticides after failing to clear intermediate second year.

    T. Kiran (17) hanged self at his residence in Anakapalli as he was depressed over securing low marks in intermediate first year.

    The pass percentage for first year was 61 and second year was 72. Over 10 lakh students had appeared in the examination held in March-April.

    Police and psychologists have appealed to students to desist from taking the extreme step as they have entire life ahead of them and they can turn failure into a success.

    Hyderabad: Beginning this year, candidates in the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Admission Test (TS EAMCET) will be assigned ranks solely based on their performance in the admission test.

    The state government has eliminated the intermediate’s 25% weightage starting this year, The higher education published GO MS No.18 to that effect on Wednesday, modifying GO MS 73 issued in 2011.

    “Candidates who secured qualifying marks in EAMCET and candidates belonging to SC and ST category for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed should be assigned ranking in the order of merit on the basis of the marks secured in EAMCET only,” the amendment reads.

    Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the government modified this rule in recent years, and it has since been totally repealed.

    The EAMCET 2023 AM exam will be performed on May 10 and 11, and the engineering test will be held on May 12, 13, and 14. Both tests will be administered in two sessions, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

    Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate (TS BIE) on Monday released the hall tickets for the intermediate public examination (IPE) that is scheduled to be held from March 15 to April 4.

    College principals were instructed to download hall tickets from their logins and promptly distribute them to students

    The board advised students to check their hall tickets for accurate photos, signatures, names, mediums, and subjects. Discrepancies should be reported to the college principal or District Intermediate Education Officer for immediate correction.

    The TS intermediate exams will have a duration of 180 minutes (3 hours) commencing at 9 a.m. and concluding at 12 noon.

    Intermediate first-year exams will be conducted between March 15 and April 3 whereas, the exams for the second year will be held from March 16 to April 4.
