  • JK Must Unite Against Forces Working To Undermine Its Interests, Says Farooq Abdullah

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Dr Farooq Abdullah, the National Conference (NC) President and Srinagar MP, addressed party members at the Nawa-e-Subha party headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday. He cautioned the public against the efforts of those working to weaken Jammu and Kashmir from within. In attendance were several NC figures, including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Addl General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal among others.

In a statement issued, Dr. Farooq Abdullah cautioned the functionaries about the forces that are working against the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “It is up to us to understand the consequences of dividing our voices. Any misstep at this juncture would have far-reaching consequences. They do not want the genuine representative voices of J&K to be heard. Having real and representative voices in place makes it more difficult for them to pursue reckless experimentation in the region.”

Dr Farooq called for increasing the party’s outreach to the people and stated, “Our workers should knock on every door and make people aware of the challenges facing the region. The party’s vision and mission must reach every household. We currently see the emergence of political parties and leaders in every corner of Kashmir. However, the political vacuum created by the decisions of August 2019 cannot be filled by such airdropped leaders. Only a representative government can instill faith in the hearts of the people and meet this challenge.” (KNO)

  • News reporters must not become activists with ‘vested interests’: Minister Jitendra Singh

News reporters must not become activists with ‘vested interests’: Minister Jitendra Singh

    [ad_1]

Jammu: The news reporters must not become activists with vested interests, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday as he called for showing the brighter side of the government which had taken many historical decisions for public good.

He also said under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the COVID-19 adversity turned into an opportunity as world’s first DNA vaccine and nasal vaccine for the coronavirus was indigenously developed bolstering India as a vaccine development and manufacturing centre.

The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office was speaking at two separate functions here.

“The media must show the brighter side of the government like the DoNER model of development in the North-East which has changed the development paradigms of the region, the ‘StartUp Stand-up’ revolution, historical decision of abolishing interviews for non-gazetted posts and the deep sea mission under the leadership of Modi,” said Singh, a former minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).

“The socio-economic reforms made by this government like the family pension to the divorce daughter, family pension to the families of missing government employees especially in J&K and North East and the digital life certificate must be brought to the public by the media so that information is disseminated to the deserving,” he said at the launch of J&K chapter of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) here.

He said the reporters must not become activists with vested interests as biases can creep in making news not newsworthy.

“Communication is emerging now as an institution and it becomes the responsibility of PRSI to place the institution above the individual for the welfare of the people,” the minister said.

He said the greater responsibility of PRSI is to fill the gaps in government communication in such a manner that the people are informed by the media according to the development communication models.

Calling Modi as the “best communicator in the world”, Singh said he has initiated new areas, laid the foundation of unexplored areas which were never in news, the best example being the ‘Swachhta’.

Attending Medicos Meet ‘Celebrating the Multi-faceted’, he said under Modi, the COVID-19 adversity turned into an opportunity in India when world’s first DNA vaccine and nasal vaccine for coronavirus was indigenously developed in India which has not only strengthened ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ but also bolstered India’s status as a worldwide vaccine development and manufacturing centre.

On the occasion, the latest 2023 edition of the RSSDI Text Book of Diabetes Mellitus for postgraduate students was released. The book has the foreword and an exclusive chapter by Singh, who is also a nationally known diabetologist and Professor of Diabetes and Medicine.

“The path breaking decisions by the Modi-led government will be written in the golden words in history not done from the last 70 years, be that the done away with the attestation by a gazetted officer,” he said.

  • Oppose unipolar world running in US interests: Putin

Oppose unipolar world running in US interests: Putin

    [ad_1]

Moscow: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Sunday said that the main cause of his country’s difference with the US and its allies was its strong opposition to creation of a unipolar world fitting Washington’s agenda, media reports said.

Moscow is striving to create a multipolar world rather than one that is centred around the US, he said in an interview to Rossiya-1 TV channel, RT reported.

The Russian President claimed that America’s “satellite states” are also well aware of the US’ “egoistic” intentions, but, have chosen to ignore it, for the time being, “due to various reasons connected first and foremost with huge dependence in the economic sphere and defence”.

He also contended that some of Washington’s allies also see confrontation with Russia as a unifying cause.

He cited the US government’s efforts to attract European businesses to American soil, as well as a submarine deal last year where Australia suddenly junked a contract with a French manufacturer in favour of its US rival.

Putin emphasised that Russia “cannot and will not behave like this”.

“In the end, such a stance – the fight for a multipolar world, for respect for each and everyone in the international arena, for taking into account everyone’s interests – I don’t have the slightest doubt, will prevail,” he said.

The Russian leader also claimed that Western elites will only be “satisfied” and prepared to “admit us into the so-called family of civilised nations” if Russia disintegrates into several independent states, where the the West would “place (the resulting countries) under its control”.

On his decision earlier this week to suspend Russia’s participation in the New START Treaty – the last remaining nuclear accord between Moscow and Washington – he said that the move was required to safeguard his country’s security as well as its “strategic stability”.

According to the Russian President, he opted for this course of action in light of a more aggressive NATO, which has announced that “its prime goal is Russia’s strategic defeat”.

Unity Crucial For Safeguarding Interests Of People Of J&K: Dr Farooq Abdullah

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and MP from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday asked people to unite against the divisive forces that are trying to disenfranchise them of their identity, land and resources.

This he said while stressing on the importance of maintaining unity in the ongoing struggle for restoration of J&K’s rights in Budgam. “I see no way of achieving anything in J&K without a lasting unity between different sections of our society. Unity in diversity must be our creed to last for all times and under all circumstances, otherwise there is no end in sight to our common problems in the shape of poverty, unemployment,” he said.

The cost of not forging unity will be borne out by our future generations, he said, “Recent developments across Jammu and Kashmir have heighten people’s fears. They talked of hand holding youth and bridging ‘Dil Ki Doori’. Hearts aren’t won by making poor and hapless people homeless. Far from winning the hearts, they have further alienated the people. Kashmiris, Gujjars, Dogras or Paharis are already suffering on multiple accounts. Snatching roofs from their heads will only precipitate the already grim situation. I hope the government retracts from the path it has chosen in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq were also present on the occasion.
