Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan does not shy away from experimenting with roles. He began his tinsel-town journey with Deewana in 1992 and went on to portray a gamut of characters. He even tried his hand at playing a dual role in films and ‘Fan’ is one of them.

Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, ‘Fan’ came out in theatres in 2016.

The film did not work at the box office but the audience and critics laud the actor for bringing something different to the table.

SRK plays two roles in Fan, one enabled by the use of makeup and CGI. The story follows Gaurav (Shah Rukh), a young man whose world revolves around the mega movie star Aryan Khanna (also Shah Rukh) or God as he refers to him. From Delhi, young Gaurav embarks on a journey to the city of dreams, Mumbai, in order to wish his God a happy birthday. When things don’t go according to plan, Gaurav’s love and passion for Khanna become a dangerous obsession.

As ‘Fan’ completed seven years since it was released, let’s revisit some interesting facts about the film.

The film’s logo was made up of 100 pictures of real-life fans of Shah Rukh. Basically, it comprises profile photos of over 100 lucky fans, who won a contest that the entire team had run before the release of the film.

The film had no songs. The team only made one promotional song called ‘Jabra Fan’

The Mannat you see in the movie is not, in reality, SRK’s house. The makers wanted to feature SRK’s mansion Mannat in the film but due to security reasons, the mansion was recreated in Film City.

If reports are to be believed, Fan is the first ever Bollywood film to be shot in Madame Tussauds Museum, London.

It was not easy to get the look of Gaurav, a man in his 20s. Apparently, he had to undergo 3D scanning in the US. International make-up artist Greg Cannom created the desired look of Gaurav in the film.

Some scenes for the film included real footage that was shot for SRK’s birthday in 2014 and 2015.

Prior to ‘Fan’, SRK played a double role in ‘Duplicate’, ‘Paheli’ and ‘Don’ among others.
In the upcoming months, the superstar, who is basking in the success of Pathaan’, will be seen in ‘Jawan’ and ‘Dunki’.

Virat Kohli shares his 10th grade marksheet with an interesting caption, pic goes viral

    [ad_1]

New Delhi, Mar, 30: Virat Kohli, the batting powerhouse of Team India, is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. However, like many other sports stars, he had to sacrifice his education to pursue his passion for cricket. After completing his 12th grade in Delhi, Kohli had to give up further studies to focus on his cricketing career. But his hard work and dedication paid off, and he has become one of the most respected sportspersons in the world.

Recently, Kohli sparked an interesting conversation by sharing his 10th grade marksheet on Thursday, March 30. The marksheet, from Savior Convent School in Paschim Vihar, shows his impressive scores in subjects like English, Hindi, Science and Technology, Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Introductory IT (Information Technology). However, there was not a single mention of Sports, despite Kohli’s superstar status in the field.

“It’s funny how the things that add the least to your marksheet, add the most to your character. #LetThereBeSport,” Kohli wrote on the Koo app.

As part of PUMA’s Let There Be Sport campaign, Kohli shared his own academic transcript to raise awareness about the significance of sports in conjunction with education and traditional studies. The image of Kohli’s marksheet quickly gained traction on social media, garnering widespread attention.

At 34 years old, Virat Kohli remains one of the most impressive and inspiring figures in modern-day cricket. After taking a six-week break from the sport in August 2022, Kohli returned to the field with a renewed vigor and quickly regained his top form. Since his comeback during the Asia Cup, Kohli has smashed an impressive five centuries across various formats, solidifying his position as the second-highest century-scorer in international cricket with a total of 75 centuries, just behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100.

Looking ahead, Kohli is set to continue his impressive streak in the upcoming 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). With his sights set on finally winning a title after a 15-year-long search, Kohli is sure to bring his A-game to the field and inspire his team to greatness.

  • Mercy Killing, Cancer, Poverty and Court: A Play Linked Interesting Extremes

    [ad_1]

    by Maleeha Sofi

SRINAGAR: The theatre play Fataah was an adaptation of Shankar Shesh’s play Fandi that artists from SR Theatre Ganderbal exhibited in the just concluded theatre festival at Tagore Hall. It linked interesting extremes to tell the story of death, poverty and the rule of law.

The play opens with a group of prisoners doing a traditional performance Dambael while the group is consoling a person in the middle of the circle formed by their lyrics Ma Bhar Cxe Gham (avoid stress). The person is the main character, Fataah who has been awarded a death sentence. A lawyer, Rustom Rahman has been appointed by the court, an amicus curie, to fight Fataah’s case as she could not afford one.

The court had chosen Rustom as his lawyer merely because he shares his name with his father. However, Rustom Rahman has never won any case before and is apparently a kind-hearted person who wills to help Fataah.

Fataah is hopeless. In the conversation with his friends and well-wishers, Fataah denies meeting him and accepts him as his lawyer as he thinks nothing can save him. Finally, however, he somehow agrees to it.

The story unfolds gradually. The reason behind his imprisonment is gradually unfolded in their conversation, so it does create a little suspense in the audience. Fataah has been charged with the killing of his father who was battling cancer. He had strangulated his father to death only to relieve him of the pain on repeated requests by his father as they could not afford the injections any longer. Fataah had taken debt from someone.

The lawyer plan to do a rehearsal of the next day’s court trial in which they both imitate the possible witnesses in favour of Fataah. Fataah himself plays the role of judge, the debtor, his wife and other witnesses. It seems as if they win, but it doesn’t happen. All the witnesses speak lies against Fataah and even his wife could not make it to court due to an accident.

Rustom helps to get him another lawyer who luckily does not charge any fee. The conversation after the next trial (The trial isn’t shown in the play) reveals that the lawyer has done well in the court but could not save him. They again rehearse for the next hearing and the play ends with that only without showing whether Fataah will win or lose. The decision is left for the audience to decide.

Fataah is a family man. The play sequences suggest he can not be the person who can kill his father. He had done so, however, to end his father’s pain. The main theme of the play is mercy killing and poverty. There are people who can’t afford the treatment of certain fatal diseases and they tend to die one day or another. Fataah was trapped in the same conundrum until he choked his father to death.

The role of Fataah was played by Sahil Shafi, who did a commendable job of playing different characters. He changed his articulation, enunciation, tone and draping style within seconds to shuffle from one character to another. The set-up was given a touch of Kashmir by choosing the props traditional to Kashmir.

The play is originally written by Shankar Shesh and adopted by Raja Maqbool. It was directed and designed by Sahil Shafi. The character of the lawyer is played by Ashraf Nago, the warden by Aaquib Hameed and Fataah by Sahil Shafi. Dambael was sung and presented by Nazir Ahmad, Bilal Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Sahil Meghraj, Shakeel Sheikh, Mohsin Qadir, Shahzad Ahmad, Aqib Nazir Paray, Maroof Majeed and Syed Imtiyaz. The backstage management was done by Mohsin Qadir, Nazir Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Aaquib Hameed, Masoom Mumtaz Khan, lights by Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Props by Haider, make-up by Rasid, Stage by Sahil and Ashraf.
